I honestly love green thumb nursery and I've been coming here for years. Only issue is I don't live on this side of town otherwise I'd come much more frequently. I Absolutely love their selection of flowers and plants. Their quality and quantity of flowers to pick from here is unmatched! It's the Disneyland of gardening. Green thumb is comparable to any home garden store meaning they have an indoor area with different gadgets and outdoor repair and gardening items. Outside they have a massive flowers, trees, and plants area. They also have plenty of pots and statues. This spot is massive and I always wander around finding that the time flies right by because there is so much to see. I know some people make comments about it being pricey and it's hard for me to assess that as I only garden or do big outdoor projects 1-2 times a year. For that reason I am not well versed on pricing and honestly all hobby's like gardening are expensive to me lmao. Jokes aside I do think you get what you pay for. They have a variety of plants here that I can't find anywhere else, especially not at big brand stores. It's worth a visit or a couple of dollars more to get exactly what you want. Staff here have always been nice and helpful. A gentlemen named Chris (I believe) helped me out at my last visit and was really nice. I've always had a good shopping experience here and will continue to support them. They have so many plant options. I got an abundance of yeses. And they are healthy. Lots of pots too. The guy that helped me was very knowledgeable and patient as I went through my lists of plants. I appreciated the information and also the help to navigate around the nursery, pots, and green house. It was confusing to me. But, having a human GPS and Google helped immensely. :) It's a bit far for me to drive. However, it was nice to get a bunch of things I wanted. The smaller pots are more affordable and the bigger one less so. There are dwarf varieties and standard. So, there are a lot of things to choose from. I think it's a good place to go. It's kind of a distance for me. But, really worth the trip. Checkout was quick. A wagon was provided. I recommend them. read more

I absolutely love this place! They have such a huge selection, well organized and have very unique items. It is slightly pricier than most places but it's a small business and a huge store. The staff is always kind and courteous, knowledgeable. My one huge thing about this place is their Christmas trees. I absolutely LOVE them! They do the nicest job on set up and organizing the trees and no other place flocks the tree the way GT does it. Straight up: I'm a Jewish girl who loves Christmas and GT was the first place I ever bought a tree from. Made the mistake of getting my tree at Home Depot one year... absolute disappointment! Have been a regular customer at this particular store. Many of the employees are great friends of mine; especially with Jonathan Burton, outside in plant nursery areas. His supervisor Danny Blanco is a major factor of my regular trips from Simi Valley, even though the Canoga Park store is a lot closer. The selection is massive and enticing. My apartment is loaded with houseplants from there and my downstairs dry river rock bed container gardening and landscaping (mostly tropical fruit trees) wouldn't be as great if it wasn't for their weekly fulfillment inventory. read more

Just the visit was entertainment, the butterflies, old pollinators blooming in this garden center were such a treat !! it's huge and its inventory is quite vast, the service is amazing. I had an individual help me pick out two edible grapevines for an edible great landscaping project that we've got going and I just wanted to give these guys a quick shout out and let anyone investigating whether or not Green Thumb is a place they like to visit I highly recommend it it's like going to a botanical garden All the while you're shopping at a Garden and hardware store ..... it's magic! My boyfriend and I visited on the 25th and were informed that beginning the next day, they would be closing at 6 PM. We returned yesterday to purchase a mistletoe, but the entrance was blocked with cones, and an employee sitting in a truck was dismissive and disrespectful when he told us it was closed. It's frustrating to be told that closing time is 6 PM only to find that they actually closed earlier at 5 PM. While shopping for a higher-end weed-whacker recently, I switched from looking at Amazon reviews - "take with a grain of salt" - to calling Green Thumb. Why not go to the source (or closer to, anyway), eh? I was transferred to Diego in the garden dept, and, without pressure in my opinion, offering only info and not a pitch, he told me of a brand, Stihl, I hadn't seen on Amazon. Long story short, I visited the Ventura store that day, and walked away with a first-class tool that is easy-to-use, even for a beginner such as myself, and a real workhorse. The kicker was the time Diego spent on the phone and in person with me. He was truly as helpful and informative, in a personable way, as possible. Preface this by acknowledging my husband is the gardener in the family. He can grow anything just by sticking a stick in the ground However expensive waste of money seeds from the Hawaii airports are just not working so since my guy wanted a few more tropical to go in the plumeria forest (ie backyard) I suggested Green Thumb. Ohhh what a treat! Nicest employees who were so helpful to everyone they were around. Now being a guy when I suggested to "ask" if they had certain plants, you would think it was for directions! So he toddled off and I went in search of a smiling employee (5 steps away). Hands down the best place on earth. Like Disney for garden people...and their Christmas stuff is absolutely amazing.

I forgot to check in (like most of the time) this location is by far the best one. They have a huge variety and unique plants in all types. They sell passion fruit, calamansi( native to Philippines) and gumauchile (Mexico and other tropical or Asian countries) these are not very common. You'll see some in my photos. You be the judge: I saw an "S" shape wire plant hanger, and asked one of the employees, where I can find it. He points to a wall in the next room. I looked there were none there. I asked another employee, where can I find this "S" shaped wire plant hanger and pointed to what I wanted overhead. He points and says they're in that room. I went to that room, none were there. I asked yet another employee, can I buy that plant hanger. He said,, I've been here 20 years, and we don't sell these. I asked yet another employee to get that plant hanger down for me, he did and I bought it. Then I went to the gazebo and asked an older man, I bought 80 Agave from here, and five have died, can you tell me why. He said that's like asking a dr. why my friend's shoulder hurts in Sacramento. I come to this nursery about 2-3 times a month and it's frustrating because I love the plants here but one of the older ladies at the register is rude and always finds a reason to not let me use a coupon. I have no issues with the other people. It's already my 3rd time getting a green thumb coupon rejected by this lady. Update 2024: came to buy 2 houseplants and again the cashier gave me a hard time about the coupon. Every single time I use a coupon they have to make a fuss about it and get a manager involved. I love going to Green Thumb nursery in my town which is located in Santa Clarita. I've always wanted to visit this location and was in town for the day. Needless to say I was not disappointed! The front of the place is deceiving as it looks small but it actually huge! There is a giant selection of all sorts of plants. I was really excited to have found a variegated string of hearts. Definitely, by far the BEST nursery I've ever been to. The plants all are beautiful and well-maintained. They offer all sizes and they are all clearly priced. The staff indoors and outdoors were genuinely happy to be there, including the cashier (don't give too much weight to the negative reviews about cashiers being rude). The prices were so much better than anywhere I've been. They offer it all, give yourself plenty of time to look at everything. I was in town for something else and had I known how much the nursery had to offer I would've given it it's own day to go through. This was like a gardener's Disneyland! Called to see if they had Alpine Strawberries in stock before driving from Thousand Oaks, but was left on hold for 16 minutes the first time before hanging up and calling again. After explaining what happened (hoping it was just an oversite) I was left on hold again for 12 minutes before giving up. Very UN-helpful staff!! read more

The selection is great but the plants tend to be a little over priced for what you get. Also, I have had two different plants purchased months apart come home from the nursery with pest infestations. One with spider mites and one with scale. On my most recent visit I asked for a discount on a houseplant that had clearly been under watered and uncared for. Every leaf was singed and dry around the edges and they all would have fallen off within a few weeks. I would have had to cut the plant all the way back in order for it to recover and I don't think it is appropriate to try to sell plants that clearly need rehab at full price. The manager even had the audacity to say that the plant in that condition is part of its natural life cycle. read more

Green Thumb is my local fave for a variety of house plants, gardening tools, pots (from Italy, Mexico, etc), soils, gravel, fertilizers, garden and vegetable plants. Outside of plants, Christmas is an absolutely beautiful time of year. They decorate trees and have quite the variety of ornaments and decorations for your tree or gifts. The pricing is very reasonable and it's always good to support a local store. The gardening staff have years and years of knowledge and can answer about any question you have. From identifying plants to pests to helping make the right soil choice, they are simply the best! The store and garden area are always well kept. The bathrooms are clean. Parking may take a few extra minutes because the store stays busy, but they do offer handicap parking and some parking on the backside. They do allow well behaved animals on a leash. Drove all the way from Moorpark to green thumb in Ventura. I knew they have a good inventory on rose trees. I wanted specifically pink. They had two in stock but both were covered in heavy white fungus. I asked if the one I wanted to purchase could be discounted and the checkout girl said she didn't know so She called for someone to come to the front register from nursery. Unfortunately it was the same nursery employee I heard while trying to shop in the nursery dept. going on a rant and rave session and lecturing and talking over a Latino employee while sitting inside the nursery customer service gazebo about the differences in legal and illegal immigration. It was putting a very negative impact on my shopping experience because I was forced to hear this rant and I felt it highly inappropriate in the workplace and especially when everyone can hear the conversation because he talks in a very loud tone. Politics do not belong in the workplace especially when the whole store can hear it! He talked over the employee and was obnoxiously loud. So he comes over to the checkout in a very combative state of mind and when I asked about a discount he Proceeds to ask me if I live out here and if I know that it's a common occurrence due to the marine layer. The way he spoke to me was very patronizing and combative. He just shut me down before I could say much of anything. I don't appreciate being talked down to in that manner. All I asked was if the rose bush could be discounted because it was covered in fungus he didn't need to go into a rude rant and lecture like that.I literally could not say a word but I finally had to just turn my head and start ignoring him and concentrate on continuing the payment process because he just kept ranting and raving in a loud obnoxious way and would not stop. I felt attacked. I was highly embarrassed . He continued to go on and on even when I tuned him out. The lady behind me couldn't even believe it! It was unreal and uncalled for. I was not rude to him in any way. All I asked was a simple question. All the other employee encounters I had at Green Thumb were amazing, helpful and cheerful but management definitely needs to train this one with better customer service skills! First, the star is for Ray outside, HE was incredible. The staff outside is great, super knowledgeable and friendly. Great selection of trees. The inside staff is TRASH, so rude. They all act like you're bothering them and give the ugliest looks. My last visit a few months ago I experienced the same treatment with the inside staff and today "Brisa" was extremely sarcastic when checking us out. Very unfortunate when this is the only nursery in the area. Looks like Home Depot or Lowe's will get our business now. read more

By far the best nursery around! We are lucky enough to live nearby, and it's our regular spot to find amazing additions for our yard (So regular, that we are there just about every week to see what new stuff they have each time). Sometimes we just wander around through plants just to adore the beauty, but let's be real- we always go home with stuff! We have houseplants, succulents galore, and an entire vegetable/herb garden from them.. All of our plants are in great shape, and have given us years of joy and produce (same same). Decided to stop in for the first time yesterday afternoon, and will never be going back. The pricing was outrageous, but even more off putting were the horrible cashiers. I am a local business supporter, but unfortunately this local business isn't it. Picked up a Begonia from a display table that advertised, in big bold letters, so that it will catch your eye, "Rieger Begonias $6.99". The display was only filled with 6" pots and larger. When the incredibly RUDE and DISGUSTING cashier rang it up, I told her it was advertised for $6.99, not the $16.00 it was ringing up as. She told me I was wrong and pointed to the price. She said it's only 4" pots. I walked back to take a picture to show her, and my mom, who stayed back, asked if she would send someone back to assist me. She told my mom "No". The colorful decorated signage states in big bold letters "Rieger Begonias $6.99" and then in tiny letters, "Each 4 inch pot". I searched the full display for 4" pots and couldn't find anything smaller than 6" pots. I took a picture of the incredibly deceiving and hard to read signage, along with a picture of the display containing only 6" pots and larger to show her. She tried to tell me that the plants in my picture were the 4" pots and that I picked up a different one, which I didn't. Instead of sending someone back to assist, she refused to make eye contact, ignored my mom and I, and just stood there flicking her long fingernails like she couldn't be bothered with the customers in front of her. An older gentleman walked up and asked if there was something we needed help with, so we asked if they would adjust the price to what this Begonia was being advertised as, and he said "No". I asked if he had any of the 4" pots and he said, "I don't know. We're probably out." When I made the comment, "You should to take the deceiving signage down until you get the actual 4" pots in, and put them on display," he just scoffed. Nobody was willing to help. Nobody was willing to remedy the situation. Staff walking all around the store, standing around, both in the store and out in the garden, just having conversations. Yet she couldn't be bothered to call someone to help. Beautiful flowers, but the rude and inconsiderate staff at this business ruin the experience. read more

We picked up items for some window boxes, mostly herbs and lettuces. They had plenty of choices and we also impulse-bought a gorgeous dahlia that was on sale. We had no problem with customer service, because we didn't ask for help and no one offered it. We would have bought a bucket, if we could locate them, but didn't see anyone to ask. The place was packed on a hot and humid Sunday - too many people during a pandemic. Parking lot was full and social distancing was damn near impossible. Normally, I'd give it 4 stars; however, they are dog friendly and Ginger really enjoyed the outing and all the customer love. She also met another golden retriever on our shopping excursion. There's your 5th star! It was well worth the journey from Santa Barbara, where for some reason, our best nursery is closed on Sundays. read more
