I requested a site visit so I could talk through our lot (it is irregular in shape) and our specific needs (the mulch beds and shrub trimming, plus possible other future items). Matthew came out to meet me and we walked the property and talked about our needs. He was very courteous and anxious to help us. Today (07/23/2025) their landscape team arrived early and worked very hard. The lead guy talked with me and I walked him through the specific areas of concern (TV cable and sprinkler heads and piping). He was quick to ask a question if the crew was unsure about something. They were very good at this, cutting the beds (to help keep the mulch in the bed), and trimming our shrubs. They worked very hard and the result is amazing. They paid particular attention to areas that I marked for caution (TV cable runs right at bed edge, along with a couple of sprinkler piping areas close to surface). They were very careful in these areas, with no problems. Our yard has not looked this good in some time. I would highly recommend them for lawn and landscape services.

During the process I ended up replanting the drift roses in front as they just threw them in with no planned positioning. They planted 2 spruce trees in wrong places...one on my easement so it's no my tree now. They did half of the work and when I called to have him come out to see if he would work with me on balance due since all the work wasn't done. His response was you changed it. Why should I pay for work that wasn't completed? Shame shame shame on them as I am one who sticks with a company and I would have used every year for mulch and feeding of trees. His response again was he has customers he's had for 50 years. Well...the way he works now he won't be getting any repeat business from me!

When I finally got the bill and called because I had questions on it, he verbatim called me a liar that I had never received the bill previously. His rationale was that I wouldn't have been able to know that number to text for the bill unless he had sent me the bill through it. I had to inform him that I knew the number because he had originally texted me at 10:15am on May 5th that he wasn't going to be able to make the 9am-10am window. Then he got really defensive so I said I'll just pay this bill and never do business with you again. I then hung up. Again, the employee was very friendly and helpful that came out. Instead, dude goes, "Yeah, I'll cut some up for you and leave a pile." ...Huh? I thought this was 2025, not 1953 when neighbors actually helped each other. I legit didn't know what to do with that level of decency. Just nodded like, "Cool, cool," while internally wondering if I owed this dude beer or my money. 15 mins later--clean pile of perfect firewood like it spawned there on its own. No mess, no drama, no sketchy Facebook marketplace vibes. Just done. Also saw the job they did at Brookside Park when done--tight, fast, clean. No standing around pretending to look busy. "My Linden tree project" is complete! I looked to my neighbors for referrals. Many companies were…read morebooked because of Indiana storms in late June. After contacting 11 companies, receiving 8 quotes ranging from $414-$1195 and narrowing it down to 3 finalists. I paid nearly $800 with Sav-A-Tree (formerly Ping's Tree Service). My tree had a special needs situation and Sav-A-Tree offered a plan to repair. The largest upper branch split into 2 near the top. It would have left a gaping hole if it was removed. Sav-A-Tree offered to secure it with a cable so the limb wouldn't break during future high winds. I also loved Davey Tree Experts, they were my second choice. They offer a VERY price competitive "winter scheduling incentive." Definitely require proof of being insured & bonded for tree work or you could have a homeowner insurance claim for their workers if they're hurt. All the major firms and most family-owned tree companies could produce their insurance/liability information with their quote. Here's my before and after with clean in between and I couldn't be more pleased!
