I will try…read moreand be as brief as possible in restating my encounter with Mikeal Ostrander, the owner/optometrist. It's been awhile, but I will never forget the horrible treatment I received here. It left an impression. I had an eye appointment and immediately upon entering the office, I presented my insurance card and a copy of my eyeglass coverage. They appeared to make copies of those items. I assumed (incorrectly) that they would run things through my insurance. When choosing glasses, I presented the insurance coverage document to that person as well. She assured me that if I had coverage and their office was paid again, they would reimburse me for what I was paying out of pocket that day. When I found out they didn't submit the items to insurance, I asked them to pay the amount insurance would have covered, had they done what they were supposed to do in the first place. I was told they weren't required to submit to my insurance. Then why take my insurance documents and make copies? What's the point, if you're not submitting it to insurance? The optometrist/owner didn't care about the fact that his staff dropped the ball on their end. He was extremely unpleasant and unreasonable in working with me to fix the situation they caused. Countless unpleasant interactions later, the owner/optometrist would not reimburse me for the $75ish they were supposed to repay me. They were standing by their mistake. I now go to a different eye doctor in Hayward (Northview).The staff actually look up your benefits and tell you specifically what is covered. They are wonderful to deal with. REPLY TO "TIM F's" COMMENT: Ironic that Tim F. was not involved in this dispute but you're writing using his name. You are not Tim F. Yet another questionable business practice. My original review, under my name, was up for the majority of the last few years. It recently disappeared and not because of some fake name. I had watched it through the years and it had been read by many, many people. You could learn a lot from Northview Eye Clinic. I walked in, presented the same information I provided to your staff, and by the time my exam was done, they told me exactly what I would be paying for glasses out of pocket and what my insurance would cover. It went off without a hitch, as it should. I didn't mention this in my first review, because I didn't know at the time, but the prescription you gave me for distance was not correct. I wondered why I couldn't wear those glasses without getting a headache. Now I know. It was off by quite a lot. Northview fixed that as well. Bottom line, I presented all my insurance information to your staff, and you didn't run it or tell me you wouldn't run it. Eventually, my insurance did get involved at MY prompting. I reported you to the State of Wisconsin as well. Insurance said you could run it through correctly and then they could cover it. You refused. You should have done the right thing and chose not to. You still would have gotten your money from my insurance company. You dug in your heels and chose not to run the claim correctly. All I can do is inform others of the truth, which hasn't changed since it happened years ago. I had sincerely hoped you would have learned by now that treating the public the way you treated me, is not good for business. Sadly, it seems you haven't. Also, replying to my review with outright lies doesn't boost your credibility with anyone. You messed up. We all do, but you need to admit it and move on.

Generally I've only had cleaning, but recently needed an old bridge replaced. They did a GREAT job in prepping for the new one, including matching tooth colors to existing teeth. I brought my 3 year old in for a simple fluoride treatment (she sees a pediatric dentist that is an hour and a half away). The dental hygienist saw our intake form, knowing my daughter was afraid of the masks and put one on anyway. Then, Hawksford came into the room and proceeded to yell at my daughter to stop crying, took a mirror and said, "This is what you look like when you are crying," and then asked me what was wrong with her and if she's been through trauma. Finally I stepped in as things were escalating and told her she was making it worse. She then stood up, and said, "Ok! Well if I'm making it worse then we are done!" Pushed her chair very firmly and stormed off. I picked up my things and left immediately. No treatment for my daughter. I asked where to file a formal complaint and the front desk person told me to send in a letter. My daughter has been to the dentist several times and is usually upset, but calms down after the treatment. We have never seen anything quite like this. Needless to say, I will NEVER bring my child here again. I will also be making my experiences known to anyone that is seeking dental care in the Hayward area. This review is hard to do I don't usually call out an entire company but I just can't stay quiet on…read morethis.  My son has cerebral palsy and had recently outgrown his braces so we were in a period of time where he had no orthotic support and we figured some chiropractic work would help to loosen the muscles in his back hips and neck.  We went to the initial visit and decided to have my son go four times a week (he was very tight and his gait was very much off) I agreed to this, we could do this for a month or two until his braces came in.  After two months of this, my son drastically improved he was feeling so much better, and has his orthotics now, standing taller and his neck muscles are not tight!  We Love what Lauryn did for him, but he is feeling better so we made the decision to stop going, a week goes by and $435 was taken out of our bank account, even though he wasn't going?  So I called and apparently on my son's second visit his father was given paperwork to sign, he wasn't a part of the initial visit and knows nothing about healthcare and just signed the forms this is what we wanted for our son's health at that moment.  Unbeknownst to me, my husband signed a contract for chiropractic work for $435 for 4 months, to go 4 times a week for those 4 months.  (A little much don't you think eeesh!) Why was this never brought up during the initial visit?  I never would have gone through with this care, I would have sought put a different facility.  You can not put a time limit on health, every "body" heals differently.  A contract for health care with prepayments is nonsensical and predatory in nature, you are being lied to and your symptoms are being taken advantage of for monetary advancements on the company's end.  Face value everyone is nice and all have smiles on their faces every day, I appreciate the care my son did get, but a contract for health services is unethical.

We signed up for the plan and followed their recommendations and have had amazing results. We haven't done a nebulizer in almost 2 months and we have a walking pro. Their staff is very friendly and willing to work around schedules. We love it here and are so glad we took the leap of faith and tried it.
