Avoid this company. completely a rip-off, charges unreasonable "service fees". A so-called "glue fitting" costs $100+tax, opening the lid costs you extra $75, even though they opened it up just 2 weeks ago. All I wanted was to replace an aging septic system.. though Bill Seabrooke and his engineer Steve Bassett designed a system way over our budget.. being seniors and living in rural Ottawa we were baffled by the complexity of all this.. after further thought we decided to go with a 'conventional system' rather than the ATL system they had designed.. I guess we should have been more cautious and did some homework... getting a contractor to do a different design meant a revision (Mr Bassett charged more than RVCA said it would cost).. well I ended up with a filter media bed.. raised 5 feet high taking up half my lot... ridiculous I still cant believe they could do this...that is the biggest hump I have ever seen (usually mounds are built near waterways we are no wheres near water! a hump is a hump.... 5ft is not A hump its a 'mound'.. and the cost of the sand and gravel brought us close to what Green VALLEY had original quoted us.. I have to live with this mound looking out my window everyday I m close to tears.. have some feelings for homeowners will ya... friends and family shake their head in disbelieve.. and Rideau Valley Conservation Office no thanks to you.. when walking into your office you give us an application a list of engineers and your on your own... Granted we were very impressed initially with GVE when dealing with the septic designer Steve Bassett who was quick to show up, polite and knowledgeable; and even though the system we choose was comparatively more expensive than other companies/systems on the market we chose to go ahead with the job after owner Bill Seabrooke came out in person charming us with his smooth talk and promises of a beautiful graded yard with no typical septic hump. Unfortunately, as first time home owners and parents of a 6 month old we should have read online reviews and perhaps done some more homework because once the job commenced it has been nothing short of a headache. A septic job which we were advised would take a maximum of 6 days turned into 14. This meant pushing many of our other trades and deadlines. Workers are best described as lazy and disrespectful. Work would commence no earlier than 9am with more than half the day spent taking breaks both on and off the property, smoking marijuana on the job, speaking poorly of the homeowner when simple requests are made, no respect for homeowners property (leaving garbage, brush they cut and mud/clay on street at end of job). When following up with concerns (not putting the proper amount of loads of fill back to make property level) and what was clearly indicated on plan/design, met with comments "there is always something". Charging for extra loads of top soil (tandem/ not Tri-axel), contract doesn't even include seeding the property, asking for payment prior to completion of job and topping it off with walking through the middle of freshly seeded top soil when returning to site. We would not recommend GVE to our family, friends or general public as we have quickly learned that they are more concerned about money than customer satisfaction and at a cost of 40k, we wrongly believed we would get what we paid for... learn from our costly mistake and avoid GVE! read more

I hired Green Valley Environmental to look at my property, give me all possible options for installing a new septic system, prepare a design and apply for a permit. They were very pleasant people and the design they created was very professional. However, they only provided me with one option - a very expensive, experimental septic system - and told me there were no other options for my site. When I put their plan out for bid, I found out that was not the case. I ended up terminating their plan and permit, so all the money I spent on them was wasted. I went with a local installer and saved over $25,000 on the system quoted to me by GVE. And in case you think I was looking for a "Cadillac" system, this was a small septic system for a seasonal summer cottage. The only reason why I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is that they can probably be a very good company if you know exactly what you want and are looking for your design to be written down in a professional manner. Worst company ever!!!stay far away!!get some other company to service,not these crooks!! Bill the owner is a fake scam artist and has a crew of drug addicts working for him!!i was home the whole time, the service guy was here 5 hours and charged me for 10 and a half hours!!then i had an older timer that still worked, his service man told me they had new timer unit and was only 200$-250$, and wasnt worth my time to keep it, then after installed saw on invoice they charged 600!!!!!!plus tax.plus they charge 130$ an hour, and they charged me travel time, when he was at another clients house 5 mins away before he came, which he charged them travel time aswell then me too!!!!!stewart his service guy started telling me hes going through hard time in his life and has been going on "drug benders" as he said, this guy im paying 130$ an hour...so then i call for bill to explain invoice and he cant tell me where all the labour hours came from, yes he didnt know,kept saying he'd call me back,i would call him and hed give me run around,and say he would call me back,then he started hanging up on me, VERY PROFESSIONAL HUH?...Then found out he put a lean on my house for the amount, never once refused to pay, just wanted an explanation on labour and part which they were trying to rip me off for, and there answer was childish and sorts....AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! read more
