We as a family caught the train into DC to avoid parking and the traffic. We got on at the Greenbelt station where there is tons of parking including Handicap accessible parking as well. We required some assistance with getting all of our tickets from the attendant which was super helpful. The ride was smooth and the station was clean. I did have some challenges with getting out of the parking lot after returning to car. It is a bit confusing on how to get out due to poor signage in my opinion but ultimately figuring it out. All in All it is very easy to get into DC on the train however, after events it can be super crowded. I would recommend added a Tap option for an easy way to pay to get on the train. This is my go-to Metro station as it is the closest to me. The parking lot is huge, and I have never seen it completely full, although some of the spots are pretty far from the entrance of the station. The metro is always so clean and I find it usually runs on time. There is usually only one station attendant here, and there is a bathroom but they need to unlock it for you. The station also connects to Marc on the lower level. It currently only runs Green line, but is set to alternate green and yellow in December 2025. I wish they'd expand the green line farther north to Laurel, Jessup, or Dorsey station. read more

This station was clutch for visiting DC! It's about 30 mins outside the DC area and just one train ride to the attractions. Apparently Sundays is free parking which makes me wonder is that a religious observance thing or just coincidence. Had I not seen a recent review that mentioned the free parking I would have felt awkward driving off without paying only to have someone show up at my door to arrest me over $5. Super easy to park with like 200+ spots easily. Accessing the train is dumb easy and it made for a fun adventure. It felt like riding the NYC subway back home so I likely didn't look like a tourist since I felt comfortable riding the train. read more

Very nice station at the end of the green line! We went on a Sunday and parking was free! The train had no wait and we were in DC within 20 minutes. I'd only suggest they need new/ updated announcement speakers to make it clearer to passengers in some of the cars. Highly recommend ! read more

I found this metro station very easy to navigate. It has a decent amount of parking. The payment kiosks didn't all work though. It runs on the green line, so you can take it to a larger station like L'Enfant for example to get on different lines. read more

The end of the line, at this point, until they decide (if they ever decide) to extend. Not at all a bad stop to use. The one really good thing about it is that if you start your journey out here, you are guaranteed a seat. With this being where it is at, there is a ton of parking available, at a price. Accompanied by a bus stop and it having it's own exit off the Loop, it makes for an easy place for people to start their journey southward. I feel like this is a weirdly set up Metro stop as it is bigger than most, but everyone seems to be funneled into one entry point. The platform is quite big and it has connection to MARC. This seems to be one of the more active ones. Every chance I get to come here I always seem to run into something set up outside of the exit. One day, I even got a Club one day for my vehicle...maybe that wasn't a good thing. read more

Park in the Park and Ride, ignore the parking spaces where you pay by app. I parked here on a Friday afternoon for a trip into DC. Good experience. Almost all the turnstiles were working. All the ticket sale machines were working. Came home about nine pm and felt safe. read more

Plenty of well-lit parking, 3 gates to the various highways, and gets you to DC in about a half an hour. Color me happy with this station.

This is public transportation. Don't expect luxury. This station could use a lot of improvements and changes, but it runs. There really isn't much I can say. It's mostly clean and the trains run on time most of the time. read more

This metro station is the last one on the green line on the north end. The big parking lot is just that---a wide, sprawling lot with minimal shade. The lot is much further away from the entrance of the station so you end up walking a lot more than at other stations with garages. Still, it is convenient, right off of the beltway, and easy to get to from local roads. The station has friendly newspaper dispatchers at the entrance handing out the freebie Express newspapers, a product of the Washington Post. There is also a cheerful homeless man who compliments every woman walking by, telling them that they look gorgeous, as well as wishes everyone to have a good evening. The stations is mostly clean, and I've never felt unsafe at this location, but I also travel during the normal morning and evening rush so there is always people around. read more

This is the northernmost green line station you can go to, and I only happen to if I have to drive to Montgomery County, Laurel, or anywhere else North immediately after work. There is plenty of parking, and quite frankly I've never seen the lot get completely full. The catch is that some of the farthest parking spots from the station are really... Really... REALLY.... far. It can be a 5-10 minute walk just to the station itself depending on where you find free spaces. Otherwise, the station itself is nice, I've never seen it look messy. The option of two exits is also really nice, as one will take you towards Old Greenbelt, and the other one will take you directly to the Beltway, which is super convenient! One last thing worth mentioning is that when you're on the Beltway, you can ONLY directly access this station from there if you're going South, not if you're going North. Be mindful of that. If you're going North, get off at exit 23, make a right, and you will start seeing signs. Safe travels! read more

This is the main station that I use for getting into DC on the weekends or on days that I'll be staying at work later than the last bus on my route. It serves the Green and Yellow lines. Another thing I've noticed is that these lines seem to have more of the newest subway cars running on them than the other lines. But the best thing (besides free parking on the weekends) about this, and other stations on the ends of the lines, is your choice of seats. Just remember to be a gentleman and give up your seat when needed. read more

Easiest way to get into DC from MD. Super large parking lot and easy to get around. Open air terminal and since this is the last stop on the line, the train is empty when you are headed into DC. Also, buy a smart card. The paper ticket adds $1 onto your standard fare in each direction. read more

The pros: Large parking lot which is free on weekends & holidays Easy access from 495 however the leaving the station you can only head one direction, towards I-95 It takes about 30 minutes to get downtown DC once you're on the train The facility isn't pretty but it's not dirty either I've never not felt safe here but traveling with people and during the day is implicitly a little more safe. The Cons: Metro has ever increasing fares and this is at the top of the Green line meaning you are the farthest away from your destination and will pay have the highest fare costs. Sometimes the lighting in the lot is out and with a large parking lot comes outskirts. I've heard stories of break-ins near the edges of the parking lot. Overall it's relatively clean and I've never witnessed a safety problems. The only downside is it's at the top of the green line which makes it the longest to and trip back from. read more

I usually really enjoy the Greenbelt metro and love the convenience it provides. I knew the customer service wasn't always incredible, but it wasn't that big of a deal as I've used the metro for years. However, today's experience made me reevaluate my stance towards the staff members. I usually carry one to two metro cards with me, just in case.Today, I politely asked a man to check the balance on the cards as none of them were allowing me to exit the station, although I knew one of them had sufficient fare money. He gave me the worst attitude and proceeded to tell me, "YOU'RE supposed to monitor all this, not me." I tried to explain to him that I tried to check the balance on the exitfare machine but it kept telling me to see the station manager. He continued to grumble and state that he should not be expected to do this. If assisting customers with small matters like this makes this man grumble and complain, I truly do not understand what he is getting paid for. I've used the metro system for years and have never encountered this level of rudeness for such a simple request. read more

Great way for trips to DC. Ample parking! Parking is free at Metro-operated lots on weekends and federal holidays. Most weekends, it's easy to find a space at Metro parking lots. They are very serious about no food or beverages being eaten on the train. Heard a woman being called out while eating on the platform. Purchasing and reloading SmartTrip card is easy. Parking is a little tight during the week but with quick access to the beltway this is your go to station for a trip into the city or DCA or Dulles. The price for a week day is$5.20 for a rider. Ouch. But the good news is the parking is free on the weekend. The station is wide open with lots light and security guards so the experience feels safe. I wish the the price for fares was better and that Metro covered more of the area but that is a rant for another day. read more

Convenient to the MARC train in the mornings and it's easier for me to catch the Metro here than deal with the insanity at Union Station every day. My stop is right across the street from work, so it works out better for me. Staff is particularly friendly when my MARC/Metropass doesn't work properly (which seems to be every month as of late.) I'm not a fan of the very long passageway underneath the MARC train tracks, though. You know the scenes in horror films where the girl is always snuck upon by the killer and stabbed/bludgeoned/strangled/etc. to death? That's what that tunnel underneath there feels like when I walk through it. There isn't much security at this station, either under the tunnels or in the parking lots, and I'll be honest in that it makes me very nervous, considering that the Green line runs through some of the worst neighborhoods in D.C. Some security cameras, or a guard or two, wouldn't be amiss here. At least some safety lights would be nice. Otherwise, I can't much complain. Train service is always quick here and I'm at my destination in no time. read more

BEWARE OF THE TAXIS that line up here outside of the Greenbelt metro!! I took a black car that was marked "independent taxi" that fleeced me and the lied to my face about it. He took me in the opposite direction of where I needed to go claiming that was the only way to get on 495 from the Metro when I confronted him about where he was going. I didn't want to have an altercation so I just paid the man what he asked. A trip to Ikea/the holiday inn took 15 instead of 2 minutes and cost me considerably more. The next day the hotel shuttle picked me up and showed me the real, direct route!! If you need a cab do yourself a favor and call a reputable company that operates in the area like Barwood or Sun Cab or call an uber. These folks are gypsy cabs as far as I am concerned and don't have a company that they are affiliated with. The metro station itself is fine, with plenty of parking and helpful attendants and bus stops. Just don't use the cabs that line up here. read more

This is the station I use most often. It's convenient because there is parking and it's the closest station to Baltimore City. However, I often have to park really far away and when I return in the evening the parking lot is not well lit and there is no police, security or even metro personnel around for safety. read more

The train platform is a nice, open-air environment... But other than that, I really don't like going to this station. Its entrance is only accessible from 495 North, and its exit leads only to 495 South. If you're on the wrong side of either one of those, the next closest exits to turn around at are either one or two miles away. Who planned that? Also, no parking garage - just a vast, football field-sized lot which means no protection from any sort of weather, and also means that unless you're arriving early in the morning, you'll be walking for awhile to get from your car to the actual station. One of the most affordable and under-advertised ways to get to Baltimore Airport is to take the B30 bus from Greenbelt. Timing of the arrivals could be speculative in that if you miss the bus, it could be another hour before the next one. Overall, I recommend this but recommend planning around some uncertainty plus or minus twenty minutes on the train schedule could make a plus or minus difference on how long it takes via bus. read more

I used this station quite a bit when I was working downtown. Much saner on a weekend! The tracks are showing their deferred maintenance, very rattly on the last few hundred feet as the train arrived. And OMG, weekday parking is up to $5.10! read more

How exactly does one "review" a Metro station? It's clean, safe, relatively well-maintained. There is ample parking in the paid lot. I am not aware of the station having any washroom facilities, which I guess is both a blessing and a curse. It's relatively easy to get a seat when leaving from the terminus. read more

A very helpful and friendly worker at the station made our vacation go so much smoother! He helped us figure out the DC Metro system and what was needed to get around. The station itself was clean. There are no public bathrooms but the gentleman who helped us did open the door so we could use a small customer bathroom in the mechanical room. read more

This is my favorite station of all the filthy subway stations! The gum smashed into the ground combined with bird dropping and urine stains create a sort of collage that make me feel right at home. The concrete you stand on itself is sturdy and the different slabs were well placed. The beautiful artwork displayed on the subway cars is truly a marvel to behold. My heart lights up everyone I see the disgusting train cars slide into the greasy station! The diversity of tags add a colorful and welcoming vibe. I recommend this station to anyone looking to contract Hepatitis C. Love this station with all my heart. 5 stars! read more

Great metro but definitely busy during Nat games..lol We thought it would be easier to catch the metro to save time in finding a parking space at the game. Well, it was a long trip back from the game because the train we were on, broke down so we were elbow to elbow with hundreds of others and with two cranky babies in tow. It was warm, smelly, and a tad bit claustrophobic. That's what you would expect, right? Right! We just hated being the lucky ones with the broke down train.. I won't hold that against them. We always find parking and its either a front row spot or one 10 miles away, hit or miss. Either way, our little ones enjoy the metro or "train!" ;) We will definitely be using this way of transportation in the future but just more organized next time. :) read more

Typical above-ground Washington Metro Station. Station is very clean and couldn't ask for more. First problem is elevator does not work now (as of 10/10). Second problem is not enough local bus services (for Anne Arundel County) run there, but that is not fault on WMATA. read more

It was pretty good. I've only had a problem once, and I take it into DC every time I'm home in Maryland on break from college. The only problem I have had was taking a trip with my brother, the car caught on fire and the doors would not open. My brother had to force-ably open the doors, the car was filling with smoke. Terrifying, but the metro let us all off as soon as possible and another came along to pick us up. Every other time, I had no issues and the station is always clean. read more
