The staff is super friendly. Something did not resonate with me about the prognosis I received and I found another holistic practice for a second opinion. Not only was original Prognosis not fully accurate, the cost would have been 1,000% higher than I ended up paying. I think Hazen can become a great holistic dentist once she's gotten more experience under her belt.

My insurance was a "high" plan with United Concordia. My wife and I had periodic maintenance in May and June, 2024 with no issues. In October 2024 I received an email saying I had a past-due bill of approximately $90. Since I had no outstanding bills I printed the email and went to the office to check it out. I was told there had been a "price increase" that wasn't applied to the last two visits. Since it had been so long they would waive the bill since I was a "valued customer" but price increases would apply to future visits. My wife's next visit was that afternoon. Her bill was significantly higher than what had been normal but I had been told to expect that. Three days later I got an Explanation of Benefits from United Concordia. It outlined the treatment for my wife and stated that we had paid the "out of network" price. I had always been "in-network" so I called United Concordia. They said Dr. Hazen had dropped out their network on 1 May 2024. Dr. Hazen's staff didn't tell me that, just that there had been a "price increase." A few days later I got an email bill for another $80 for my wife's visit. I went in and was told they had expected a particular procedure to be paid for by insurance but wasn't. I paid the additional bill and cancelled my November appointment so I could review my dental insurance options during my upcoming open season. When open season arrived I went in to Dr. Hazen's office and asked for which companies they were "in network." They told me United Healthcare. I changed my insurance to United Healthcare and rescheduled my November appointment for January 9, 2025. When I arrived I gave the receptionist my new insurance card and said I wanted to verify I was "in network" before my appointment began. The insurance coordinator came out and spun a story about how they were in network with some United Healthcare plans - but not mine, despite what they told me earlier. That was it. I'm done with Dr. Hazen. Her business practices and customer relations are abysmal. Insurance plans seem to be some classified subject about which they won't give you a straight answer. Time to find a new dentist.

If you tend to give people and businesses the benefit of the doubt and assume they will do the right thing, just make sure you have your guard up before doing so here. They are not bashful from changing commitments on you unless you go in thinking like a lawyer yourself. I desired to do business with them, and even after what seemed an impasse, I extended one more olive branch so that this step of a review online was not necessary. In light of their choices, however, it became my duty - as a tenured Mt Dora resident - to forewarn other Mt. Dora families with school age children. Who is the warning for exactly? Families who take it for granted that a business will act with integrity and do the right thing. I received a written quote. I then got new insurance. I called the kind office staff in order to catch them up and let them know. When I did, I discovered that I qualified for a discount. You can imagine my excitement! I called back to get things in motion and start my child's treatment. That is when things went sideways. I was THEN told that they didn't "do that any longer" and would not honor what I was told. I had several subsequent conversations to make sure at least I was acting in good faith... to no avail. Bending over backwards, even after those conversations, i made one more attempt to avoid the need to make this known in the marketplace and giving them the opportunity to act with integrity. They. Just. Didn't. All that to say, I am sure that the care and the doctor himself are excellent. Their business side of things, however, needs some serious 'customer service' review.

I called the first one on the list that was near my area (Greenberg). They said that they were only doing their current patients. I said to them "what if he became a current Patient?" They said that they would first have to schedule a consultation and that they would not repair the braces because they did not install them in the beginning. Therefore, it would cost upwards of $300+ for the upper and $400+ for the lower. I said thank you and hung up. Next I called a friend of mine who used to manage a local gym and she gave me the phone number of a dentist we both new who also was a member of the gym at one time. I called his (Dr. Chris Lunsdford) office and told Ashley of my predicament. Ashley to me to call Dr. Dave/Chris Wollenschlaeger's office and tell them that Dr. Chris Lunsford referred me to them. I called Dr. Wollenschlaeger's office and spoke to Catherine and told her that I was referred to them by Dr. Lunsford and explained the situation to her about my son's braces. She asked a few questions and then scheduled appointment for my son later that day. We arrived for my son's appointment, filled out a few papers with the help of Terry (she was so helpful and polite). No sooner than we were halfway through finishing the paperwork, Dr. Chris W. came and got my son (he was extremely friendly and courteous). Within 15min my son was done and we were on our way home. As we were driving home my son told me that he liked Dr. Chris way more than his Virginia dentist. This was the best dental experience I have ever had, seriously! Thank you Terry, Catherine and Dr. Chris W.. I will definitely recommend Dr. Chris Wollenschlaeger for everyones orthodontist needs. Also kudos to Dr. Chris Lunsford for the referral.
