I found this practice from the holistic dentist directory. The office is clean and modern and was packed to the gills with patients but the wait wasn't terribly long. The staff is super friendly. Something did not resonate with me about the prognosis I received and I found another holistic practice for a second opinion. Not only was original Prognosis not fully accurate, the cost would have been 1,000% higher than I ended up paying. I think Hazen can become a great holistic dentist once she's gotten more experience under her belt. read more

My wife and I went to Dr. Hazen for several years. No complaints about dental care other than frequent recommendations to try the "latest and greatest new thing" - with an upcharge. My insurance was a "high" plan with United Concordia. My wife and I had periodic maintenance in May and June, 2024 with no issues. In October 2024 I received an email saying I had a past-due bill of approximately $90. Since I had no outstanding bills I printed the email and went to the office to check it out. I was told there had been a "price increase" that wasn't applied to the last two visits. Since it had been so long they would waive the bill since I was a "valued customer" but price increases would apply to future visits. My wife's next visit was that afternoon. Her bill was significantly higher than what had been normal but I had been told to expect that. Three days later I got an Explanation of Benefits from United Concordia. It outlined the treatment for my wife and stated that we had paid the "out of network" price. I had always been "in-network" so I called United Concordia. They said Dr. Hazen had dropped out their network on 1 May 2024. Dr. Hazen's staff didn't tell me that, just that there had been a "price increase." A few days later I got an email bill for another $80 for my wife's visit. I went in and was told they had expected a particular procedure to be paid for by insurance but wasn't. I paid the additional bill and cancelled my November appointment so I could review my dental insurance options during my upcoming open season. When open season arrived I went in to Dr. Hazen's office and asked for which companies they were "in network." They told me United Healthcare. I changed my insurance to United Healthcare and rescheduled my November appointment for January 9, 2025. When I arrived I gave the receptionist my new insurance card and said I wanted to verify I was "in network" before my appointment began. The insurance coordinator came out and spun a story about how they were in network with some United Healthcare plans - but not mine, despite what they told me earlier. That was it. I'm done with Dr. Hazen. Her business practices and customer relations are abysmal. Insurance plans seem to be some classified subject about which they won't give you a straight answer. I had the 1st of 2 (descaling) treatments performed by Heather. I have heard horror stories about this procedure. I am happy that this was not the case. Slight discomfort and Heather was considerate with topical lidocaine. The cleanliness and process was incredible. Review of bacterial, ozone water and air filtration. I was with my prior Dentist for 30 yr. I was not able to have treatment for 3 years - due to COVID. He changed practice and that office did not accept my insurance. This stressed me to the max.....as I have anxiety. The professional and caring staff...indeed helped my anxiety. Informing about probiotics and stressing importance of flora throughout my system / in balance to enable health teeth and gums .....I feel that this is a positive and healthy environment and change. read more

Bad experience for myself and my daughter. They charged more than what was owed. My insurance covered everything and instead of them refunding me the overcharge they kept it because the insurance didn't pay what they wanted to be paid for the service. My daughter had a filling done and had multiple problems with it causing pain and discomfort because they drilled so close to the nerve at 20 years old, they told her she may need a root canal for a first cavity ever. She was seen by another provider and has since alleviated the pain and discomfort. I would not recommend this Dentist to anyone for anything. Very disappointing that they are just concerned with the money not the patient's care. read more

Trying to set up an appointment because I'm new to Mount Dora. You always get a voicemail when you call their office, they're always too "busy with another patient" to answer their calls. Have always been friendly staff. The whole family goes here. Today it was my 3 and 5 year old. The dental tech and the dentist were both patient and understanding of the kids. They both found creative ways to interact with the kids to make it a more enjoyable experience for the kids. read more

So we recently moved to the area, left a very honest and trusted dentist. My husband shows up for his cleaning appointment. He was there for 1.5 hours, they gave him a list of things that needed fixed before he could get his teeth cleaned. Umm he just saw his dentist before we moved everything was fine and was told to continue routine cleanings. This office never completed his cleaning and said he has other issues that should be addressed before his cleaning. In my opinion they are just trying to take your money! Cancelled all of our appointments and definitely will not recommend this office read more

I first went to Dr. Hazens office a coupe months ago. I chose the office out of convenience of location and because they took my insurance. I was terrified of going because I had been having dental pain but had avoided going to the dentist for 5 years prior. During the first appointment I found out I had an extensive treatment plan that I needed. I needed 4 crowns and a couple fillings as well. My gum health was bad. This wasn't a surprise to me as I knew I had pain I'd been neglecting. I cried on the first visit in the office out of embarrassment and overwhelm. The staff there was kind and encouraging. They allowed me have my meltdown, gave my tissues for my tears and assured me we would get me to where I needed to be one step at a time. So far I've tackled 3 of 4 quadrants in my mouth . Each time I go to the office it is clean and the staff remains professional and caring. The staff and Dr. Hazen work together really well, they are quick, knowledgeable and efficient and seem to make a great team. The financial aspect is a stress but it is what it is. I payed my copays out of pocket for the first couple visits and applied for the care credit which I'm using for the remainder of costs. After getting some temporary crowns this past Monday, I believe I accidentally partially dislodged one of them while flossing. Last night I found myself in excruciating pain and I didn't know what to do. The pain was so bad i was panicked and in tears. I didn't know what else to do so hesitantly texted Dr. Hazen personal cell which is on the office voicemail for emergencies only. It was 10:15 PM on a Friday night and Dr. Hazen called me immediately, let me know she was out of town but gave me suggestions on what to do and let me know she could come in early before regular office hours Monday if need be to take care of this. She also was able to call in an antibiotic to my pharmacy. I've never called a Dr. of any kind out of business hours. The care that I feel that she was able to respond and help so quickly really means the world to me. I see that there are some negative reviews here but whatever issues they may have had must have gotten worked out. I've felt nothing but cared for by Dr. Hazen and her entire staff. The dentist can be a scary place for some but they really make you feel comfortable. Highly recommend! read more

In the new reality of the Covid-19 world this office has risen to the challenge by installing the latest in air scrubbing technologies, enhancing equipment, and implementing the protocols needed to ensure maximum safety and hygiene for both staff and patients. We wouldn't even give one star if that's possible. This has to be the worst dentist we've ever been to. All they ever want to do is make you spend more money. You could have the smallest issue with your tooth and Dr Hazen wants to stick a crown or an implant in there. When I first went I thought they were going to be good because they got me in immediately for an emergency. It was downhill from there. One particular crown that I have fell out three different times because of their error. Then they had the nerve to charge me to cement it back in. My husband and I both had some implants and crowns and there are huge gaps between them. Like I said do yourself a favor and go somewhere else read more
