I had two breakfasts here. My comments are the bacon isn't cooked enough leaving lots of fat on it and it is not crispy, served wimpy in liquid of water or fat with the lid steaming the bacon. The congee was extremely boring. No minced Chinese preserved mustard greens and pork sung that the Chinese eat congee with. What looks like soy sauce didn't add flavor or salt to the congee. Some people thought the scrambled eggs were too runny, but I like it like custard This was so runny you have to drain the liquid out of the spoon before putting in your plate. The breakfast selection was not large, but gets the job done. The Wi-Fi was so slow. But on the day I checked out and had to wait in the lobby till 2 pm to board the ship, I told the front desk how slow THE CUT wifi was, that my email would not send. She put my phone on a different wifi and the email sent right away and wifi was no longer a problem. Location is two blocks from shopping and eating places, but mostly takeout food , pub stuff, I did not see really nice sit down restaurants.

Folow up with corporate office resulted in an offer for a discount for a future stay. Are they kidding?

Good recommendations on food and things to do. On site laundry room for $3/wash and $3/dry. It's convenient for someone whose been traveling for several days. Yeah free wifi for an 1hr/day/user. Better than no wifi at all. This review is courtesy of said wifi. Cons: I would update the shower and make it less plasticy type feel. Yes I know plasticy isn't a real world but it's the best way to describe it at the moment. Parking per night is $25 but I am not complaining since parking in Auckland is a pain and you pay for this everywhere like San Francisco. It's also a small and tight squeeze but maneuverable. Gym is provided but it's offsite about a 10 minute walk. Conclusion: I would come back and recommend this place to friends who aren't overally picky and don't want to break the bank for a place to sleep and rest.

I am used to there being a bit of separation between shower and toilet, but not here. It was a bit weird and I probably could have showered while sitting on the throne. Also your feet will get wet if you need to go soon after your shower. Again, it was very clean, but no night stand, no closet space at all therefor a tiny kitchen unit. Don't come here if you are claustrophobic. It is also loud at night. The noise from the nightlife outside is fairly constant. They do however offer luggage storage before and after your stay.

We checked in on a rainy day much earlier than our time, but they had a room ready for us and were happy to have us. The lobby is simple with cushy chairs, plenty of outlets, and a breakfast area (extra fee), for people waiting for transportation. The hotel is kept clean and nice. The rooms are small as expected in a big city. The bathroom has a shower together with the toilet and sink, so your feet/socks will get wet if using after a shower. A small kitchen area was also provided. We loved opening the windows on both sides for cross ventilation; we had a nice view of the city below. The desk staff were super nice for our entire visit. They have a free luggage storage area and I felt safe leaving our things all day. The hotel was close enough we could come back often to drop off treasures we bought and freshen up. For the price and location, we'll definitely be back!

We purchased the continental breakfast option and thoroughly enjoyed a buffet of yummy food in the mornings at the restaurant. It's not exactly 5 star, as it's a bit run down in places. However, perfectly comfortable if you're looking for a place to lay your head. Grey Lynn isn't the nicest area, but they have a resident cat to keep your comforted.

Seedy in a "This-is-an-old-gaming/sports-bar" kind of way and you get what you see. Located on the corner of Newton Rd and Symonds St, I have often passed but never entered. Inside is a clean, if dated, bar which is surprisingly spacious. There is plenty of seating, an outdoor courtyard, a pool table and, the pièce de résistance, a pinball ball machine. Oh, so it's old and sticky and needs to be plugged in via an extension cord to the kitchen. The entire reason this pub exists is to drink cheap booze and get rowdy, not to worry about the decor and Instagramming plates of food. Edinburgh Castle is a pub for sports fiends and pokie players (generally over 40).

I'm not sure whose idea this was - the place doesn't exactly scream "lovely place for a dinner innit?" They have free pool nights on mondays which is pretty cool . Their happy hour specials are great, and it's not a bad place to come and sink a few for a couple of hours. But it's no nightlife hotspot.

Our room had a huge spa bath in them, (which we made good use of!) and with it's location right next to Takapuna, if you want a nice romantic time away but still be within walking distance of a great dinner, a few drinks and a moonlit stroll down Takapuna beach, there isn't any better place than here. And for rooms for $170 a night, it's not necessarily the cheapest property around, but you pay for the location and the rooms are well worth it, plush, comfortable, fantastic.

My visit to Mollies was by chance; I was offered an assignment to write a story about elite destinations in my home city, and Mollies was on top of the list. Not knowing what to expect, I expected the normal 5 star boutique hotel experience, but what I got, was so much more. The food was spectacular, the service excellent, and the setting, just perfect. After dinner we sat and listened to light opera and a piano recital, and in the morning I didn't want to leave. Mollies is not for everyone's taste, but it is worth every cent. And it is the perfect place to celebrate an anniversary or special occasion.

I also had a bit of oven-baked market fish, but I steered clear of my boss' favourite confit duck leg (on account of both my pescaterian diet and her militant love of duck). For some reason everyone at the table ordered different mains - a total oddity in my experience - so the festive meal looked even more festive with all the colours and flavours decked out in front of us.
