Such a wonderful experience!…read more Although the food and setting was gorgeous, service felt unpretentious and wonderfully paced. The soundtrack for the afternoon was likewise; I think I expected some form of ambient trance and, this is not a joke, "Down in New Orleans" from Disney's "Princess and the Frog" played during our appetizer course (we thought this was hilarious and awesome). With regard to drinks, the seasonal Sorrel Daiquiri was my friend's favorite and the wine selection was very interesting with lots of English and Welsh options. I ordered off of the vegetarian menu and I didn't miss meat for a heartbeat--and, as a bonus, they grow, harvest, and serve a number of vegetables from their own property. It can feel like a financial investment, and it's certainly out of the way, but well worth it.

A very warm welcome awaited us, and we were shown to our room where freshly-baked warm Welshcakes awaited us. I took a leisurely bath and got ready for our tasting menu dinner. The food was phenomenal - having eaten shortly beforehand at Tom Kitchin's in Edinburgh, aspects of this meal were even better. The canapes, the cocktails, the bread, the nice touch of the nettle macaron to send you off to bed - all amazing. The service was really exceptional, really fantastic. They were also happy to accommodate my dietary requirements and substitute dishes, which was great. The only downside to dinner was that the chef patron walked out of the kitchen and straight past us (and then back to kitchen) without greeting any of the diners - seemed a bit odd when he wasn't really that busy and there were only 4 of us. It didn't mar our enjoyment of the meal, but would have been an "icing on the cake" touch. The chap who was in charge of service was really brilliant - his recommendations were spot-on. The dining room is very small, only one other couple were dining at the same time of us - the atmosphere was a little weird as they appeared to have fallen out before dinner! But we had a great time, despite my partner having a terrible cold. We had a great night's sleep in the comfortable bed, and then breakfast next morning was another culinary triumph. I can't wait to go back soon!

I rang them to book a place for my parents and from that first interaction the service was very good. They made sure there was a parking space for them when they arrived and showed them around the beautiful old house. There's a sitting room and honesty bar if you ever get bored of your room. They opted to pay extra for cooked breakfast and really enjoyed it. Loses the 5th star because its a bit out of the city centre which meant taxi rides.

What an absolute find! If you ever find yourself in Cardiff (which my partner assures me is now a…read morelot different and nicer than it was in the past), you HAVE to stay here. Forget the chintzy chains or the high class hotels that just treat you like a number, you become one of the family instantly. This terrace house was recently renovated into a boutique 7 room hotel. The rooms are well appointed, with free wifi, a TV and a DVD player. There's even an ipod dock / speaker for your Apple music goons. The beds were definitely comfy, and the linen fresh. The only thing I'd say was that the pillows were a bit too thick for my liking and gave me a bit of a neck crick the next day. (I usually sleep with relatively thin pillows though, and so at least maybe having that option would have been nice). Anyway, Helen greets you at the door (no matter what time of day you come - we were the last guests for the day) with the greatest smile and a gigantic dollop of Cardiff charm. We were knackered from a day of walking in the Brecon Beacons and were promptly shown how all the amenities in our room worked. The showers were great and everything looked new and well cleaned. The breakfast was continental, and while it would have been nice to have a fully cooked option included in the price (it costs £5 more and you have to order it the evening before), but a brief chat with Helen makes you understand why. She's passionate about the business and treating guests like family. This boutique hotel gives you great value for money, and a top notch level of service - although almost - just almost bordering on it being too much. Helen also knows the Cardiff area well and can be a great source of information for your travels in Cardiff. Parking is available and reservable in the rear of the house and the back room is well stocked with things to entertain you. I'd recommend Room 2 because of it's little veranda outside for you to sit in (when it's not pouring out like it was when we were there). Definitely will return and be a part of the history of Hotel One Hundred.
