I was surprised my call was answered & thrilled that Gerado said he would be in my area in an hour or so & could take a look. When he arrived he gave me a quote & said he could repair it now. Everything was in good repair & done at a very reasonable price. A week later late in the evening I noticed another section had begun showing some seeping at the popup heads & figured to check it in the morning. Next morning to my surprise I received a text from the water co that my smart meter had alerted them to a continuous flow. I went right to work & saw I had a valve problem. I thought I could handle the repair on my own following some you tube advice, I replaced the top of the valve body. Long story short I was unsuccessful & couldn't stop the ebb. I called Gerado who determined possibly because my original valve was over 16 years old there could be some minor variance to the molding process or I purchased a defective valve. We agreed to replace the entire valve assembly. Gerado who returned again on Sunday with a new valve installed the valve in short order. Immediately all was back to good working order. Situation: I hired Daren at over twice the bid of others as thought he would do the job right and good timing. Our garage /yard was flooded from an ocean storm surge with several inches of sand and we needed cleanout leaving areas "nice and clean" Reality: the place was a mess when I inspected to give Daren payment. There was still sand/debris of up to 4 inches in multiple areas throughout. You could barely see the red pavement below all the sand still in garage and backyard and entry areas) (see photos). When I requested Daren finish sweeping sand away, he became combative and said he did the best he could and would not do more. He threatened to sue me and put a lien on my house if I did not give him a check immediately. After I refused to pay him till job was finished per our contract, he reluctantly sent his guys to finish job. When I gave Daren his check and said how disappointed I was with his earlier threats, he continued to insult me ( and my neighbor who was with me as well). All I was looking for was a thank you for my business and a sorry he did not do the job right the first time. I have never experienced this lack of professionalism in my 30 plus years working with contractors. That is why a one star even though job was finally completed. Buyer beware.

He came over one more time two weeks later as we had to update our drawing. Then he said he'll give us a quote. Sure. Sounds all legit. Three weeks later, after multiple unanswered emails, calls, texts, he dropped off the quote in paper and drove off. We reviewed the quote and had a few questions on line items that were not actually applicable to our job. He showed up again 2 weeks later and apologized saying those should not be in there, and it's his fault and he'll update the quote and come back to us. Great attitude, we thought. And little did we know that was the last time we saw him. A few more weeks went by and we got a little worried as we didn't hear anything from him. It has been over 2 months since we gave him the updated drawing and he originally promised an early June start date. We didn't want to be rude, but didn't like being in the dark either. So after a bunch of voicemails, he finally called us back. Very aggressively on the phone, he claimed that he won't be able to take our job until late July, which would push our project back by 2 months. He also started this weird ranting about how busy he is and he can't do it. We were like, I guess it's fine, maybe we can wait for you? He then admitted he got a big gig somewhere. That's when we realized how stupid for us to wait patiently for him trusting he runs a decent business, but he didn't respect our time at all. He rudely interrupted us multiple times when we were trying to figure out a timeline and simply said 'just go with someone else' and hung up. We were shocked to say the least. Never, I repeat, NEVER have I experienced anyone running a business so rudely to a customer. The action item was on him to update the quote but I guess he decided $30k is not worth his while. Very dishonest business. He could have just said I'm sorry I can't take your job any more cuz I got a big job somewhere else but I can give you a referral. Nope. He's probably the least Aloha person I met since I moved here. Can't decide which is more accurate to describe this behavior - Aggressive, unresponsive, irresponsible, or lying? Well, good luck with the new gig and with an attitude like this, you should not be in this business.
