I was quoted $102/month with discounts for completing a defensive driving course ( paid $60 and sat through a grueling course for 6 hours) , signed up for the safe driving app ( tracks driving) and wrote two positive reviews . Later, they increased it to $168, claiming the underwriter found "points," even though I took the course to have that cleared. When I asked for written documentation showing how the premium was calculated, they refused. I wrote to Jon Farney , President and Chief Executive Officer of State Farm and received a letter back from Alan Wheeler which doubled down on his bait-and-switch . Would not recommend...waste of time.

If you have a computer, go that route. It will not only save you money, it will save you time, stress, and clear up miscommunications. You might think, as I once did, that having a rep in the neighborhood might be useful when dealing with your insurance company. That dealing with a person face to face would be more expeditious. But that has not been the case with Modica. When a simple billing problem snowballed, this agency made matters worse rather than better by telling me things were taken care of, when they weren't. It started when I moved. Despite the change of address, renewal notices were coming to the new house while bills were still going to the old house. Late fees were compiling. In the end, to avoid a stain on my credit I had to contact the insurer -- Travelers -- myself to get the issue resolved. Which they did in exactly five minutes. No more middle man. Next time, I go with the Gekko.
