They just don't make stuff like they used to. They had EVERYTHING I was looking for. I mean everything. Just moved to greenville and this is definitely a hidden gem worth checking out. They had pyrex too! There were dishes from Russia, England, and Chinese antiques for unbelievable prices. When I tell you I got an entire China set for $1 each piece I was taken aback! My husband got multiple vintage automobile books and some glass bottles from 1940's-60's. There were some awesome cook books too that I just had to have. I hope this place never goes out of business. And the lady who helped us out was the sweetest woman ever, she greeted us and got to know us and told us about a cool place to go and stay at near greenville. She was very helpful and informative about each antique and its purpose. She wrapped up everything properly for us and took her time. It was an amazing and personal experience. I guess The Purser's Chest would be a weird name for a restaurant. We walked in on the street side and it immediately looked like a small town furniture store but old school. Don't get me wrong, I fell in love with a couple of Settes that I thought I had to have, but for the most part, it looked like some things my grandparents would really like. Towards the back were some more upscale antique items, some french lamps, chest of drawers with hand engraving on the side, very nice items. I purchased a tray to sit summer cocktails on when we are hanging on our back screened in porch. I am not an antique expert but lots of the items were very pricey. There was a loveseat I fell in love with that had a clearance sign but upon inspection, clearance was $4000.

So I am "that person" who absolutely LOVES a great find, and is willing to dedicate a little…read moredigging around time to find the best "treasures" amongst the so-so options within a store. The hunt is almost as fun as finding the actual "treasure" sometimes...but then again this kind of shopping isn't for the faint at heart :) I found some GREAT baby clothes deals (each item only ONE dollar a piece...oh yeah!!! Well, unless it's otherwise marked..two piece items are typically priced separately...but the majority are not sets). I found a great sweater for myself for only two bucks, and that beats the 2 for $2 at your local McDonald's by a long shot...sorry I just had to go there! They have got a lot of name brands at pretty reasonable prices for the most part (especially their half off deals)! However, their prices on used shoes may need to be rethought a little. There was a large selection, which is great...but the most likely reason there is such a large selection, is because their prices are just way too high on the actual shoes themselves. Found a cute pair of kids boots...but 8 dollars for used boots?! I don't think so! There were several pairs of running shoes I liked as well, but when I knew I could get kids shoes for 3 dollars a piece (for the most part) at Goodwill, I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much more here on a pair of used shoes...once they bring those prices down on the shoes (and jackets as well) they will be selling them like hot cakes and won't have such a build up of those items taking up so much space! Sheesh! The workers were polite and nice, and the store was well maintained. They seem to work hard at keeping order as best they can with this much stuff in one place! My daughter and I really enjoyed our shopping experience, and I even left with a quality Learning Spanish set for my kids to use at home for only two dollars...Nice! I left with a smile on my face, and so did my incredible daughter :)
