This place is RIDICULOUS! I parked here to attend a show at the house of blues and let me just say I AM NOT SATISFIED. I arrived to the garage at 5:30 pm and parked here for 5 hours. On all the signs surrounding the garage, parking for 0-12 hours is advertised to be $16.00. After my show, I scanned my ticket to pay for my parking and the total came out to $46.00!! So obviously, I pushed the button to talk to an employee and ask why my total was so high, and he had no explanation. I talked to a total of 3 workers throughout this night and none of them were any help. They all said there was nothing they could do for me and that their end said my correct total was $46. First time parking here. Recently came here to park for the House of Blues event nearby using a parking app that gave me a great price to park near all evening at a fair price compared to what I was normally thinking for a typical weekend in Chicago. It's in the heart of nearly everything too walking distance wise. Clean elevator, great amenities and even parking for EV vehicles. Overall, typical parking garage! read more

Greenway is on Kinzie, up the street from my office, and where I usually park, due to their early bird special. They are quite a bit cheaper than other lots downtown, and between Spot Hero and Park Whiz, I can usually find an all day rate for less than $15 when I need to come downtown for my now hybrid schedule. (Them and the lot next to CVS on Kinzie are neck & neck with reasonable rates for this part of River North.) It's easy to navigate, good sized spaces, and easy to get in and out of. The only problem I know of is theft and damage in the past and poor security, although personally I've never had an issue. There are two entrances and two pedestrian entrances too, making it super convenient. read more

While parking here wasn't bad and they have plenty of spots and it's in a decent location, The prices are a bit high, however the Hyatt hotel I stayed at used this garage so we parked here. On our third night here we went to the parking garage at 6:08 am to get van and the window was broken into glass everywhere we followed all the rules left NOTHING in the car except for the rental car agreement in the glove box parked on an end spot next to elevator well lit and still had this happen. However, it was also the car next to me also got there window broken into. Now the parking garage attendants told me that they were aware of the situation and seen the perps how is it that this happened to more then 1 car then. I totally get it things happen, but it truly sucks when you are on vacation for this to happen. Also, while one guy was very helpful in getting me to write a report one guy was not so much. It took this other guy to come and tell me let's get this written up on an incident report. I know there were signs everywhere don't leave belongings etc etc. they are not responsible, but for the amount of money paid to park in this garage per night seems like there would be some sort of security driving and or monitoring the place in the wee hours of the morning. read more

Honestly, no complaints for this prime downtown location for parking. Pretty much anywhere in Chicago, you're going to find that parking costs a boatload. I mean, $38, or $40 / $42 for max per day really is the norm. I know this sounds like highway robbery ... but hey everyone is doing it. However, Greenway Self Park is very easy to use, the floors are easy to differentiate, and the parking spots are pretty large. There really isn't anywhere else if you MUST park that's better than this. read more

Parking lots in downtown Chicago, I feel, are a lot like the customer service people at an airline or at one of the wireless carrier companies. At best it will be acceptable, and likely I'm going to find something to complain about. All in all, this was a good spot for our car to rest for the weekend in Chicago. It was something like $46 per night for the car to hang out, but that seemed to be pretty on par with everything else in the area. The elevator area had some nice pictures to help me remember where I parked my car - I think we were on the Sun level. Any nature enthusiast should appreciate the different reminders of each level, as should anyone who has difficulty reading, as the pictures were very nice and seem to convey the information appropriately! If you're unfamiliar with the Sun, trees or stars, this may not be the place for you as you may have a difficult time locating your car- perhaps a nearby establishment that utilizes colors or shapes as reminders would be better. However, if you do, and you have $50 that you didn't want, this is the place for you! read more

You have to do it online, but it's very convenient that way. It's called the Nightlife rate, and it is the most generous rate I've seen in years, both in price and in allotted hours (in after 4 pm, out before 7 am.) Hold onto your briefs, fellas. Eight dollars. $8. Eight. W-hat. Plus a 50 cent surcharge, it's still 50 cents cheaper than taking the El if there's two of you, and waaaaay cheaper if there's four of you, but I can't do math in my head anymore so you work out exactly how much. Instructions: Go to www.greenwayselfpark.com, and click "Buy Parking Online." You'll be transferred to Click & Park. Click on "Greenway Self Park [Current Month]". You'll get a radio-button menu of upcoming days. Select the day. Pay with your credit card, put in your email address, and get an email with a PDF of your receipt and your permit with a barcode. Print your permit/barcode, and fold along the dotted lines. When you get to the garage, hold the barcode under the scanner and your ticket will print. Take it with you. Go out and enjoy yourself. When you come back, put your ticket in the machine in the lobby, which won't charge you, but will spit your ticket back out. Exit garage. You just got up to 15 hours of parking for less than the rate of two hours at a downtown paybox. Yay for you. If you know you're going to park FOR SURE during the evening hours, definitely pay online for the special fare. I was SO glad I found this before I parked myself! I saves about $15 by doing this. Experienced a little difficulty trying to scan my prepaid pass, but the men in customer service were so sweet and helpful that I wasn't even mad about the 5 cars honking behind me when I was stuck at the gate. As long as you have the printed proof of your prepayment, they'll let you out. If I ever need to park in the area again like this, I will definitely utilize this option again. read more

Chicago's best kept secret! As my co-workers and I found out one night, parking in the city is freakin' frackin' expensive. Even the parking in Los Angeles doesn't hold a candle to some of the rates they charge here. The background: We were meeting some of our co-workers on Michigan avenue and my boss had the misfortune of parking in the Nordstroms parking lot. We were probably gone maybe 3-4 hours at most and returned to the pay kiosk where we saw a couple looking a bit perturbed at the screen. We didn't think anything of it until my boss popped his ticket into the kiosk. $39 please... O_o! Insert any expletive because it certainly was warranted. Us like the other couple were suffering from sticker shock. Fast forward to the next night. There had to be some cheap parking in downtown so fortunately I got on Yelp at the hotel and found Greenway Self Park! Oh baby, if only I had the forethought to find you sooner. Located at the corner of Clark and Kinzie this is the best deal in town for parking. All you have to do is go to: http://www.clickandpark.com/apps/events?m=detail&event_id=21327 and purchase your parking. Get this, its only $8.00 plus a $0.50 service charge! You can park your car anytime between the hours of 4pm and 7am! They e-mail you the permit, print it off show up scan it to let you in park and you can take all the time you want checking out the city! The parking structure is also pretty cool. They have spaces for those with electric cars and hybrids. All of the levels are themed so if you can remember the theme (we had level 6 for food) then you remember where you parked. Its well lit and the spaces tend to be a bit wider. I suspect this is a newer parking structure compared to the others. This is a hidden gem in the world of parking. It's even cheaper than what they'll charge you for valet. If you don't mind walking (this is a city built for walking and walking is encouraged) then get your spot here and save your money for food and shopping rather than parking! read more

One of the best deals in the city! If you're looking for cheap weekend nighttime parking, this is the place. Only $8.50 as long as you're in after 4:00pm and out by 7:00am! Just go to their website, http://www.greenwayselfpark.com and prepay for the evening. You print out a ticket which you scan when you get there. Here's a tip though...scanning the barcode didn't work when I came in, so I just took a ticket from the machine. Luckily when I left I figured out the trick. The scanner creates a box around the barcode. Hold the paper far enough away for the box to get the whole code scanned. I'm guessing if I scanned in the beginning correctly, I would have received a fake ticket which would have let me out automatically. read more

What a great find this was! I was going to a show at the House of Blues and though we usually take public transportation to go into the city, we were worried we would have to leave the show early to catch the train. Since we didn't want to rush, we decided to drive. Now the question was, where to park? The reviews for the HoB talked about parking being a nightmare and valet being $20. I Googled "parking garages near the HoB" and came upon Greenway. It said they charge $8 if you buy your ticket online. You can park anytime from 4pm to 7am. That sounded perfect, considering other garages are way more. I was worried it was going to be a shady little lot on the corner of an alley since the price sounded too good to be true. I came on good ol' Yelp and saw the reviews. Everyone said it was great, so I took their word for it and bought my ticket online. Make sure you have a printer so you can print the parking pass. We got to the parking garage and I could not find where I was supposed to scan this thing (Hint: it's the first box thing you see upon entering). I pushed the help button and the woman told me there was a scan box. I had to get out of my car to do it. Don't press the button for a card. You don't need one if you have your pass. Finally, I was in. I didn't find parking until the 11th floor, but in retrospect, I probably could have gone down the other way (the way you exit) and found more parking. The elevator lobby area is super warm so you don't freeze your butt off. Also on the first floor is where you pay for your parking, if you didn't get a pass online. On the way out, I was confused again. I went to the middle lane, which didn't have a scan box. Again, I buzzed for help and the woman told me to go to the left lane. I guess the middle one is the only one that doesn't have it. I feel like there should be a sign indicating this. What if there was a car behind me? How would I get out? Luckily there wasn't, so I just went to the left lane, scanned my pass, and I was out. Seriously consider this garage if you're nearby. Great value and safe parking. read more

Greenway is no longer charging $8 for evening rates. It charges $12.60 for evening rates. Disappointing to lose a reasonably priced option. No such thing as "reasonably priced parking" in downtown Chicago though. Went to house of blues a few blocks down. Felt pretty safe, but a homeless lady asked me for money while we were going back to the car (not in the garage). I told her I didn't have any money. Then she lectured me about how I should always have cash in my purse. We had given our extra cash to another homeless person who sang for my fiancé and I while waiting in line for the concert. If you are the type of person who finds it difficult to say no to beggars, then assume the cost for parking here will be higher. I understand that they need help, but it can be unnerving for a young lady to be stopped in the middle of an unfamiliar area. It's fair to know beforehand, that is all I wanted to express. read more

GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK... This place's mission is to be an Earth friendly parking lot. Fun wallpaper dress the lobbies of the Self Parks, with 'green' names such as AIR, SUN, HEAT for its floors. It will set you back $25 for 2-12hrs. Hardly any competition, this place reminds me of an overpriced Municipal Parking Lot, except much cleaner and self-serve. That's right, you check out with your ticket before returning to your car. The automated cashier TALKS also, go figure. A cheaper alternative to the Hotel's Valet service. I like the fact that you can go DOWN ONE WAY through the middle of the floor instead of wrapping around every floor, two way. Hint: Parking on the way DOWN will yield plenty of empty spots. Would give 0 stars if I could. Accidentally drove to the incorrect hotel and lost/threw away our parking ticket because we didn't know we would need it. Had to pay a whopping 51 dollars just to get out of the f**cking parking lot. Then, accidentally left my credit card in the parking garage office. I was positive I left it there and I called TWICE to ask if they had it. Both times I was quickly told no. I call to cancel my credit card, assuming I must somehow be wrong and I dropped it somewhere. 5 minutes later, I get a call that it was found. Did they even look? Lost 50 dollars and my credit card for nothing. I realize many of these mistakes were on my behalf, but I can't believe I was charged so much after staying in the parking garage for a total of 20 minutes, and that after that they would not even have the courtesy to look for something that was blatantly left on the counter. read more

This place is a haven for parts thieves. I and a co-worker parked on different levels on the same day, and both had hubcaps stolen. Discussions with Rob Cucchi (GM) and Thaddaeus Johnson (AM) pretty much summed it all up. "We are not liable..." and we really don't care. If you value your auto, save yourself the trouble and expense of parking here. The only thing green in here is the auto parts market! Trust us, your car will be lighter when you leave. If I could give this place 0 stars I would! I am staying at the hotel connected to this garage for a month so I prepaid for a whole month of parking and was given a transponder. I used it for the first time tonight and it wasn't working. I called the assistance line which connected to an office right in front of me and the lady took 15 MINUTES to come out and help. When she finally did I asked her what was wrong with my transponder she did not answer at all, completely ignored me and instead muttered something about charging me more if I don't leave in a certain amount of time and then she quickly rand away. So completely rude especially since I'm spending over $300 to park there!!! Ridiculous. Don't ever ever park here. read more

Parked here tonight and was very disappointed with the staff. We came around 5pm to catch an early dinner and some guy standing by the gates told us there was a $20 special. We paid him cash and got a ticket, only to find out later the ticket was completely useless and not even for this garage. We went to the security office and they wouldn't help us. Told us they couldn't do anything about it and made us pay a second time. You would think these garages would have better security and customer service. Watch out for these scammers. read more

You can pre-pay online for events at House of Blues, pay for monthly parking, or the all nighter special ($8.50 from 4PM-7AM). You have to buy it in advance, but I HIGHLY recommend it! I used to think this was the best deal in the city until I had a bad experience when checking out of the garage the last time I used this place. Prior to this, I never had a problem, but this experience and the lack of resolution by the manager has made me rethink parking here ever again. If you're looking for cheap nighttime parking, this is a great find as it only charges you $10.50 to park as long as you're in after 4:00 pm and out by 7:00 am. You prepay online, print out a ticket, and scan it to enter the garage. The parking structure is safe and well lit, and I've never had a problem finding a parking space. That being said, I forewarn others about using the garage's 12 hour MERCHANDISE MART parking pass as we had problems when trying to exit the garage. When we scanned our pass to get out, we had to call an attendant over because the machine was telling us that we were exiting AFTER the time of prepaid parking period. Being an extremely prompt person, I know we were within the time period allotted. We ended up having to pay $12 extra and the attendant on duty was less than helpful. He kept telling us to prove the time we entered the garage and of course we couldn't because we didn't need to take a parking ticket when we entered the garage because we already had a parking pass! We asked to speak to a manager who, of course, wasn't onsite. We asked for his contact info and contacted him about a refund for the $12. We sent him copies of our parking pass and forwarded the email proving the date we purchased the pass. He said a refund would come by check in about 8-12 weeks. Here it is Nov 11 and still no refund. So long story short, scan your prepaid pass AND take a ticket from the dispenser when you enter the garage to cover yourself. read more

I bought a $12 3-hour space the morning I needed it, drove to the garage on time, and it would not scan my code. I used the call button but no one answered. There was a line behind me and I had to enter. I used call buttons throughout the garage repeatedly which were not answered. I ended up paying again -- $32 more -- to leave the garage. As you may see most of the reviews you are reading are for evening parking. Steer clear of this place in the morning for the work day. The lot is filled with HUGE oversized construction pick ups from multiple on going nearby projects. Clearly the garage doesn't care about regularly sized cars needing to park. Also, deplorable customer service from any staff i've encountered as well as a garage office in the worst most unsafe to access location ever!! I hope you dont need to visit the garage office because chances are good you'll be hit with a car on your way there.
