Great bakery - open really early (I've hit it at 0630 and been served with a 'sleepy' smile. Get…read morethere before 1500hrs - they really start running out of fresh bread by then. Great for lunch too - pizza, fresh sandwiches. ...there Saturday morning sausage rolls are pretty great too.
Now renamed Craddocks Bakery, it's never quite hit the mark. Apart from two price increases since…read morethe change of management, the quality of the produce isn't always up to the high standard of the old management. The Sausage rolls are more expensive and seem to be lower quality, as are the sandwiches. Some of the pastries are ok but they don't justify the new prices. Such a shame.

This will take you past a parade of shops near Ashtead train station and this bakery is located there. They open early and I sometimes stop off to buy a little snack on my way in to work. If the fresh doughnuts or apple turnovers are ready, then the staff may get a little present! Their prices are better than the bakers on the High Street. They also offer a fresh sandwich service but I've not tried that yet

Well when I last used this, must have been 15 years ago. I have no idea this Bakery had anything to…read moredo with Watsons, only I loved sticky buns and doughnuts, paid for that later, not in cash but lifestyle. Anyway I am getting rather tired these days of reviewing these names where the service has not changed ,a bakery is a bakery no matter who owns it in my book. Of course quality matters that's is why we Yelpers exist? I only hope the Moderators read this review!

Corteil & Barratt is a little unprepossing shop on the corner of Ewell High Street. From the…read moreoutside, it looks like a cake shop but inside is a treasure trove for cake bakers. They will take orders for wedding and celebration cakes to be baked to order but if you fancy baking yourself, there is every accessory available for baking and decorating your cake here. They also run classes for baking, usually aimed at the more experienced baker, such as classes in sugar flowers. If you want to bake to impress, head to Corteil & Barratt for a helping hand.
I can't recommend this cake shop enough - the shop itself is understated and fairly small, in the…read morecentre of Ewell village, but the cakes are absolutely to die for!! We discovered Corteil & Barratt when looking for someone to make and deliver our wedding cake. After tasting their vanilla, chocolate and fruit cakes we were so impressed that we ordered a tier of each!! The cakes are moist, full of flavour and every one of our guests commented on how delicious they were (with many people sampling all three - the benefit of over-catering!!) Corteil & Barratt delivered the cakes to our ceremony venue (in Wales!!!) and when I saw the finished display I was thrilled - they looked absolutely stunning and were everything I'd hoped for. I had asked for lots of intricate icing and sprays of sugar flowers in white and the finished article was just beautiful. Since then we've had two children and Corteil & Barratt are always our first port of call for Christening and family Birthday cakes. Each time we're always hugely impressed with the standard of the beautiful icing and decoration, as well as the delicious cake itself. We've had hula huts, cricket pitches and number shaped caked with trains, etc... the list goes on and will no doubt continue to grow as the years go by!!

All the pastries were lined up and they even had ready made sandwiches that looked delicious. We ordered tea and two food items because we were starving. I was really looking forward to having a light lunch at Paul with my husband as I have always loved…read morethe food and drink selection from Paul. On first impression as very disappointed with the cleanliness and hygiene of the place. Opening the door the handle was very sticky. Being disabled I had my wheelchair. The space was very tight and no offer of assistance to find a table, there were a couple of customers but the staff decided to huddle for a conversation while I struggled to stand and order. There was limited choice of food compared to other locations. The tables were also sticky and not wiped down. I asked to use the toilet to wash my hands and the soap dispenser did not work which seems to be ongoing as someone has written a note to the staff on the hand dryer, the floor was soaked. The customer seating area and floors were disgusting. Not one table was cleaned or wiped down while we were there over 40 minutes. I enjoyed the mocha but my husband choose not to eat and just have a coffee. The croque Monsieur was dry and we not up to the usual quality or standard. I will not be coming back to this Paul again. The standards and quality have dropped, I hope it is not the same for other Paul locations.
