Warm and beautiful smells of fresh bread would waft over the garden walls and float into our kitchen. I could stand there, bathed in this smell forever. It is in The Split Tin that I get that smell again. It is not the smell of any old bakery, but rather one that makes bread with love. The pizza sticks, mince pies, wholemeal pasties and sausage rolls at The Split Tin are all made fresh and daily; sometimes flying off the shelves so quick they have to close early. This isn't an in convenience but rather how it should be - not a high street place with stacks of frozen stuff ready but a natural human-run bakery. A table outside with local fruit and veg and some of the creamiest meringues inside - this place is a life line for its community and well worth the visit.
