I was referred to Dr. Carman by my dentist after developing cold sensitivity and pain in a tooth that required decay repair and a new crown. Unfortunately I've had numerous root canals but this was my first appointment at Lexington Endodontics. I was thoroughly impressed with the steps followed by Dr. Carman and his staff to understand my problem. My dental assistant Sara did cold and bite testing on several teeth in the area of sensitivity as well as taking several x-rays to help confirm the problem teeth. After sharing her observations with Dr. Carman, the doctor had a detailed discussion with me regarding my teeth. In addition to a treatment plan he shared techniques with me to help recognize future root canal symptoms before permanently seating new crowns. My experience with this practice was markedly different than that of a previous reviewer. I found Dina (the person handling scheduling and billing) both courteous and professional. It's easy to become frustrated with staff when you're experiencing pain and can't have your problem resolved as quickly as you'd like, but many of the best health care professionals are booked weeks in advance due to their skills and expertise. I find that as you build a relationship with a practice they are often more than willing to show flexibility in their scheduling, according to your needs. Additionally I get far better results when I am kind, courteous, and patient. I highly recommend this practice and it's staff...so much so that I'm considering looking for a new dentist with the same skill set. This doctor is sexist and his staff is beyond insensitive. "Doctor" Carman proceeded to tell me he doesn't see many men for veneers because they aren't as vain. Let that sink in. I got veneers years ago because of an enamel issue caused by Invisalign and a previous dental tooth whitening combined. Unusual yes. But not a vanity issue. This office's use of a frozen wand to identify teeth sensitivity should be qualified as a torture device. No pain medicine given. No warning about pain. Then the actual root canal. I was told to take two pain/anxiety relief medications and bring one for the procedure. I asked for the extra medication during the procedure and was told, "I don't think you need it." My referring dentist will be told in full about this office. Horrible experience overall. read more

Dr. Carman traumatized me for good. I have anxiety, to which he found annoying. He called me a pussy, he said it was my fault I have anxiety, and he made no effort to make me feel better. He made me cry and called the cops on me for crying in his office. This was one of the worst days of my life. My tooth is still broken, and my root is still infected. But I am so traumatized that I would rather deal with the pain than try to fix my tooth. Dr. Carman and the rest of that office set me back years. They belittled me. I can't begin to describe how awful they made me feel. Dr. Carman is an awful, awful human being. I'm forever affected, for the worse, by what he did and said to me. read more

Dr. Weigl performed my root canal. I am not the greatest dental patient, but Dr W was incredibly patient with me. He explained everything carefully. His assistant was terrific. She also explained everything she did. The office staff was friendly and helpful. read more

If clients are all treated the way the receptionist, Dina, treated me it's no wonder the practice isn't bigger than it is. Seriously, I had a problem with a tooth that needed a root canal and called on Friday (in pain). She basically advised me in an annoyed voice that their office was closed on Fridays and she'd work me in on Monday and to take ibuprofen. Monday is here and I'm held up in traffic and call to tell them so. Dina rudely tells me that my appointment was 10 minutes ago and I tell her I am 5 minutes out. She says she will tell "them". Ok, etiquette requires that you call if you're more than 10 minutes late. Maybe she's having a rough day? Nope. I get there and as I am checking in I see a sign that states if a patient requires nitrous oxide, let them know prior to the appointment. I question this as I do want nitrous for the root canal. I've been in irritating pain since Friday..just get in there and leave the rest of me alone, right? No. Apparently it's MY fault for not telling them, and I cannot be treated WITH it because someone else was using it. What?! She tells me their "policy" on this is spelled out on the back of the referral from my dentist. I pull it out of my purse and hand it to her. This wording must have fallen off the back of my slip, because it's plain white paper back there! She tells me my doctor has old slips. After a few more words, we rescheduled the appointment for later in the week. I got to the car and called a different endodontics clinic. They scheduled me for tomorrow morning. WITH NITROUS OXIDE. In conclusion, Dr. Carman may well be a gracious person and knowledgable endodontist. His practice, however, is being poorly represented and handled. I have never felt as comfortable after a root canal as I feel today after seeing Dr. Carman yesterday. My experience was much like Michael's review from 1/22/2016. I was warned ahead of time about the extra fee and warning needed for Nitrous Oxide. I decided the $75 wasn't worth it, so I went in knowing I wouldn't receive Nitrous. I received the numbing gel and the shots that everyone dreads. Funny thing was I didn't feel a pinch or anything else. The area just went numb. Other dental professionals tend to go a bit overboard and numb the entire side of my face. Dr. Carman only had the area right around the affected tooth. I too received tests for hot and cold sensitivity, and they followed up by making sure I was as comfortable as could be with sunglasses to block the shine from the light they use. There was no pain during the procedure. No discomfort. What was best for me was that Dr. Carman gave me a play by play of what was happening. I didn't have to wonder what was going on, or how much longer they would be working on my tooth. I was given a prescription for anti-inflammatories and pain killers. I didn't fill the pain killers, as there has been no pain at all. Dr. Carman and his staff really took great care of me. I even received a call this morning to make sure I was feeling ok. I would hope that I never need to go back, as I hope my teeth never break again. If they do, Dr. Carman is my choice for an endodontist. read more

I needed a root canal and I was terrified. The pain in my face, ear and mouth was unbearable, so I found myself in the chair at Dr. Carman's office. I had a lot of questions. All of them were answered with kindness. They took me seriously and listened to my concerns. The actual procedure was SO MUCH BETTER than I thought it would be. Dr. Carman took the time to make sure I was totally numb. There was no pain at all during the root canal. It has been one day since the procedure, and all of my previous pain is gone. I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. They even called me this morning to check on how I'm feeling. I highly recommend!!!!!! read more
