This has been the worst dentist experience of my life. I'm relatively new to Lexington and I scheduled an appointment with Smart Dental based on their online reviews. I scheduled a cleaning and new patient exam. They sent me a text at 10 pm the night before my appointment (one I took off work to go to) to tell me they have to cancel my appointment. I finally was able to reschedule it with them. After over an hour of xrays and an AI generated exam (they use AI to see if you have cavities??), I'm told I have 13 cavities. I was shocked because I've never had more than 1 cavity before. They told me their hygienist wasn't in so I wouldn't be able to get my cleaning that day (how was I scheduled to get a cleaning when the hygienist wasn't in?) The dentist made it seem like I needed to address three cavities on my upper right side urgently so I went ahead and got those fillings done. They charged me 190 dollars after insurance. A few weeks later, I get a bill that is 140 but it didn't say what it was for. Because their office kept calling me DAILY for weeks to see if I would come in sooner than my scheduled appointment and that they didn't have me down for a cleaning, I called the morning of my second appointment to confirm that I will be getting my cleaning (because of how unorganized they have been). I called a second time later in the day to ask what the 140 was for and that there appears to be a discrepancy between what they said insurance paid for and what my insurance agent said they have paid. The lady (Nancy) was very short with me. I was very kind and thanked her for clarification. At my second appointment, they were confused on which part of my mouth they were doing. The dentist isn't even the one doing the fillings. All she does is numb you and drill your teeth then leaves. The dental assistant hit my head HARD twice during the fillings with a metal tank because the cord was tangled up. The assistant said "these should go by fast because the cavities are so tiny." This is when I realized this dental office is a scam. When I told the dentist that I wanted to wait till January to do my next fillings for when my insurance restarts, she just said "okay" and then left. If these cavities were to the point where they needed fillings, wouldn't my dentist inform me that putting it off till next year would cause problems like needing a root canal? After my fillings and cleaning, I was charged 500+ dollars. I asked the lady at the desk an insurance question and she did not know. She had the first lady I spoke to (Nancy) text me the next day to answer my questions. My mom called our insurance and the agent told her that they did not charge me correctly & that they shouldn't bill me for the difference between a silver filling and tooth colored filling. The agent called Smart Dental, with my mom also on the line, to ask what was going on. The lady at the desk (Nancy) got very defensive and spoke terribly about me to the agent. She said I called them so many times yesterday and that I don't know what is going on. I still don't know what I actually owe because they refuse to answer any billing questions. She was incredibly rude not just to my mother but to the insurance agent. I am disgusted by how terrible their customer service is. Please save your money and go to an office that treats their patients well and are transparent about cost. read more

Best dentists and hygienists ever! Dr. Tina McGeorge is the best dentist I've ever seen. She's great with patients of all ages and super knowledgeable about all kinds of dental issues. Every hygienist has been both helpful and just plain fun at each appointment! My childhood dentist was a nightmare, but Dr. McGeorge has made it so I actually look forward to visiting the dentist now. I was recently a patient at Smart Dental. I went there to have dental work done and to get upper and lower partials. I paid my bill as I had work done and have receipts to show a zero balance. After 6 month's of waiting for the partials, I went to pick them up and was told not only did I owe for the partials but an additional $2000 that I already paid. I tried to say that I had receipts but everyone became argumentative, including the dentist who come in on the end of the conversation. No one would listen so I left the teeth I had waited 6 months for. These people are unprofessional and do not know how to document payments received. They will try to get money that was already paid, confirmed by credit card payments. I would not recommend them at all. read more

I got a quote of $213 to pop a crown back on & they said they weren't able to do it but for a new quote of $1500 they could do it but they did manage to put a painful slice into my tounge . No I would not recommend them to anyone unless you wanna leave in worse shape than you came in. I'll definitely never go back there again read more

I was going to a dentist and he said that I had 1 cavity and needed 1 crown on a molar that he could do for around $800 because he was not in network with my insurance. I figured that if the dentist was in network with my insurance my total cost would be less. That's when I found Smart Dentistry which they said that they were in network with my insurance. So when they looked at my mouth they said I have 8 cavities and need 4 crowns. Right then I was wondering how my usual dentist could have missed that much, but they convinced me that I needed all that work done. So when they give me an estimate It was something like $4600. I pay the $4600 and ask the receptionist if that paid me up in full. She said it did, So they begin all the work. They wanted to clean and polish my teeth in between doing the crowns to save time. I requested that they wait till all the dental work is finished before cleaning and polishing my teeth but she insisted on cleaning them in between doing the crowns to save time. So now my teeth do not feel smoothly polished but feel rough and dirty to my tongue all the time. After all the work was done I get another bill for $500 in the mail. I call them and they said my insurance didn't cover as much as they thought it would so that's why I owe more! I said I wasn't going to pay it, so they said I could pay half that just $250. I said no I wasn't going to pay that either but they still sent me a new bill for $250. After me not paying it for 6 months they turn me over to a collection agency. So I call them again and they claim they have me on recording agreeing to pay the reduced $250! Not true! I don't want a $250 bill to hurt my good credit rating so I agree to pay the $250, That's when they tell me that now it's more then the $250 it's now $312 because of the collection agency fees! Don't believe them when they tell you that your paid if full, they will send you more bills! read more

Okay. You're not going to believe this but I have found a PAINLESS DENTIST! It started out with my making an enquiry about replacement costs for broken implant crowns. I was a walk-in but Dr. Mayes graciously agreed to see me. I was so impressed with him and his staff that I went ahead and made an appointment. On my first visit I didn't even know he had injected me. I figured on my final visit I would surely feel pain because I was looking for it. NOPE. NARY A BIT! Dr. Mayes is an excellent dentist and has the greatest staff imaginable. I also must tell you that he has the most modern up to date office I have ever been in. No more gaggy impressions(optical scans)or complicated x-rays. If you are looking for a dentist just go by an look at his office. read more
