Then my blood pressure shot up and I had a seizure, which I've never had before. When asking Dr. Provenza, of course he denied doing anything wrong. Well since I confronted him with my problems and concerns, he "discharged" me for inappropriate behavior. This here proofs his wrongdoing to me. Found this out today and now that he has passed away, he can't justify his actions and lie about my "behavior" He wasn't the only shady doctor there, they fired the other one that was prescribing medication that actually helped me instead of covering the pain. If you want pain meds and don't want to fix your pain, this is the place to go, they give it out like candy.

The prescribed a lose dose of pain medicine that I took at night to sleep. Mysteriously at one of my appointments, a rep from Boston Scientific shows up promoting the spinal stimulator. It was interesting, but I was already seeing a spine specialist who was scheduling me for the device. I completed the trial and it worked. I am awaiting the permanent implant surgery. I had my appointment with the Pain Center and explained my situation. The Dr. abruptly tells me that she can no longer see me and any further issues should be treated by the spine surgeon. I thought they "pain management doctors". It appears that everything is fine as long as you go through them for the Boston Scientific procedure. Now I have no means of managing my pain before my surgery. Would not recommend.

I came hoping for a meaningful assessment and was instead shut down almost immediately, with verifiable clinical and factual inaccuracies. I forced him to cite his reference to support his conclusions. I asked that the citation be included in the clinical notes. He did not include it. After going back and requesting it, his office staff spoke to him and they provided a citation that undermines his own conclusions and documented findings. Don't expect an honest assessment. I have already placed a call to file a formal complaint. So far I have not received a response.

Knowing exactly nothing about me or my very complicated medical history, he busts in to the exam room, proceeds to speak very loud and fast, leaving little space to interject. I mentioned that about a year prior, a doctor had suggested Lyrica, but I'd held off taking it, as I am extremely sensitive to side effects, and that one scared me. Then, he asked what I'd tried for pain. As I began to recount the myriad therapies, meds, supplements, programs over the years, I'd no more than opened my mouth before again being cut off, with him saying, "you either want to get better or not. You either want to take the med or not. That is what's available. Meds are what's tried and true. You have to weigh the pros and cons. Take it or don't. It's up to you." I had to clarify that he was talking about the Lyrica. He wasn't even the one who'd prescribed it. I had NEVER seen this man before! I was absolutely stunned at this response. I said, "I guess my Ehlers Danlos specialist and I were just hoping that you might have any guidance on any new therapies or anything in the early stages of development or any meds targeted to my issues... just curious if there is anything outside the box that could help." His reply was, "no, there isn't." And that was that! I've probably seen a hundred doctors over that past 35 years for multiple chronic health conditions. This was by far the absolute worst experience I've ever had. If this little angry man holds this level of contempt for his patients and his job, then he needs to stick to research!

I've been trying to find a Dr on the Southside that does osteopathic manipulations and really tries to get to the root of the issue - and she does! She does not take insurance so you have to file on your own, but it is still so very worth it. I have had increasing digestive issues as well as some injury from a stretching class that continues to cause pain and so was so thankful to find help. The treatments have gotten me to where I have almost no pain and she is helping to figure out the root cause, so that it can be treated as well as avoided in the future (if it did come from the exercise). I like the calming music that is played and she has a warming pad on the table which helps with relaxing. The time goes quickly but she also gives you a full 45 minutes which makes such a difference. I can't give enough stars for this Dr and her work, and recommend her to everyone. It isn't cheap, but I've decided this will be what I save for as I work as it is just so very life changing.
