You do have to arrive and check in before the visitor center closes, and there is no one there at night if you have questions or need anything. We were told we'd have access to the courtyard by the visitor's center after hours, but the doors were locked. Not a huge deal. Didn't see any snakes, though I know they're around, but I did meet a few tarantulas and some whip scorpions (they won't bug you, just watch where you step). I had made the reservations about 3 weeks before. As with the last time I booked, I was very surprised that it wastn closer to sold out already. We have been to a few different hot springs some have been pretty cool, literally. The last one was outside Fairbanks Alaska in the winter. But one thing that is common at these spots is that they are communal pools. There tends to be a creeper now and then. But Riverbend has private pools, facing the Rio Grande. So this time I made note of the temps of each individual pool on the website, and got us the hottest one. It was perfect. It really does have pools that drop off right into the Rio. It was close to dusk and the river was flowing past the long shadows in front of us. The hour of relaxation flew by. It is the best we have been to. I am sorta happy that they arent so known as to be overbooked. Because we will be back again next time we are in the area.

There is only one elevator, so it's not unusual to spend a few minutes waiting for it. The fitness room is very basic, with just a treadmill and a small selection of weights. The pool, however, has finally been updated. The biggest advantage of this hotel is the staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly, check-in and check-out are quick and easy, and service requests are handled promptly. I stayed here for three months, so I had a few requests during that time, and they were always addressed quickly and professionally. The complimentary breakfast is another highlight. There is a good variety of options, including fresh coffee, cheese omelets, pancakes, fruit, and other breakfast favorites. Overall, while the hotel could benefit from some updates, the excellent staff, responsive service, and good breakfast make it a solid choice if you're staying in Deming.

At some point, this will be a nice place to spend a day or an overnight, but that day is not here…read moreyet. At the present moment, the hot springs has two pools open. One is tiny and maybe fits 2 actual adults, except the temperature in the spring is 110-111. That makes it very uncomfortable to sit all the way in. There is a pipe that pipes in cool water if you want it, but even with the thing running full blast, the water will not get below 108. Again, too hot for most people. The second tub fits 8 people although it is quite shallow. The temperature of that one was 102-103, which made it more comfortable to stay in for the entire 45 minute session. Now, here are the reasons why I am only giving the place 3 stars: 1. The place is undergoing major construction projects, resulting in large piles of dirt, yellow police tape, and poor signage, so that people coming to the site have no idea where to check in. To get there, you have to drive down a one-way sand road that goes underneath a railroad trestle. The area is not accessible to emergency vehicles. 2. There is no way to communicate with the person in charge without walking all the way back to the main office. 3. People are not clear on how long their sessions are supposed to be. There is no signage or instructions. The people right before us stayed in the pool for a full hour and then stood around on the deck getting dressed while we were getting in. What should be obvious from what I just said: there is no cleaning of anything between customers. 4. The existing pools have no privacy whatsoever. The owners are in the process of building a lot more pools that also have no privacy whatsoever. 5. The atmosphere surrounding the pools leaves something to be desired; not just the big piles of dirt, but the fact that in the evening you can hear the unskilled musical screamings coming from the Blue Moon bar in Radium. So, not peaceful, although inadvertently hilarious.
