This is such a great place to stay or camp and it kind of reminds me of Jasper National Park but smaller and with a lake that you can swim in (without freezing your #$$ off). It is very non-commercial with neat little shops in the town across from the lake. The beach area is a good size and the sand is nice and smooth. Not many big rocks at all. You can walk along way out too. I went to the end of the bouys that marked the beach area and it was about 6 feet deep at that point. They have some change and shower rooms right off the beach too. When we left Edmonton the mosquitoes were just raging bad and upon arriving at Waskesiu Lake we were very please that there were very little. I'm sure this isn't always the case though. We found a Disc Golf course and were going to rent some discs to play a round but some rain moved in unfortunately. We will try it next time though! If you are a golfer there seems to be a beautify golf course there. I didn't get a chance to check it out but we drove by it and it seemed very very nice. We also saw a few elk just hanging out on a fairway. The have a great rental shop that you can get just about anything you would ever need to have fun there. Lots of people enjoy watercraft on this lake. Tons of people waterskiing, tubing, etc. The beach was busy but not overly packed. It does seem to be a very popular place. We enjoyed out trip here and I am sure we will be coming back at some point!

The resort is a fairly nice place to stay and probably deserves an extra star. However, my…read moreexperience during my last stay was not a brilliant one I am afraid. Our issue was not with the resort, but rather with other guests that were situated next to our room. The hotel staff actually handled it as best as they could and fully reimbursed our second night that we left before we used it. We were looking forward to a quiet stay so we could celebrate in peace. Unfortunately, the bride's party for a wedding was next door with rooms across the hall from each other. The doors of both rooms were left with the lock bolt preventing them from closing shut, leaving easy access for those wanting to enter in and out of each room. The doors banged loudly and very often for hours. We complained politely to them to no avail. We did not begrudge them for being excited and jovial. Just the incessant banging and the promise of how things may be later. We checked out when they all went the ceremony and cut our weekend short.
