Better than Great -- OUTSTANDING! A huge limb (itself, the size of a tree) was snapped off our magnificent 100-plus-year-old Maple Tree in the recent windstorm, fatally compromising a pre-existing crack in the trunk, supported by a cobra cable. Categorized as "hazardous" by the City, we called several tree companies in an attempt to avoid further damage to property and/or personal injury. One was Grey's Tree Service. Lee Grey answered our call immediately and soon came to give us a quote, which turned out to be very reasonable under the circumstances. His brother, Ryan, a masterful climber, appeared subsequently to check out the close to 100-ft. tree. A hard-working crew of six arrived on schedule and worked for hours, felling the entire tree in one day, to meet the City's requirement. Today, the final sawing and cleanup was completed, as scheduled. Grey's was polite, professional, reliable and respectful, doing everything they said they would do (and more) in a timely manner. It was heartbreaking to lose that tree but having such excellent service helped to soften the blow. We highly recommend this company. read more

Ryan and his crew were fantastic. Very professional, they took the tree down under less than ideal conditions. There were Bell & Rogers cables next to the tree zone and the tree was next to a neighbour's yard. Everything was lowered onto my property, a difficult job considering they were sandwiched between a fence and the cables. Afterwards they cleaned up the yard and even went into the neighbours yard to make sure that no leaves or anything else had landed there. I have used arborists many times on this property and others I've owned and Grey's is very reasonably priced. An added bonus is Ryan, his brother and the crew are really nice guys. We faced an emergency situation with a big oak branch that was hanging by a thread above our glass-walled deck. Ryan arrived to do the estimate just a few hours after we called, and less than an hour after that he, his brother Lee and a crew were on site to deal with the problem. Ryan and Lee understand good business and customer service. They removed one tree completely down to the ground as we requested - no big stump sticking up out of the ground. They also cut back another tree that is too close to the roof and for that, they called a couple of times to confirm the arrangements with our neighbor, the extent of the cut and then on the day of the work, Lee called again to confirm exactly where the cut was required. Measure twice and cut once! They were more responsive than the other arborist I have used in the past and so I would use their services again in a heartbeat. read more

Lee and Ryan came and gave us a quote promptly after we contacted them via Yelp. The crew showed up on time as promised and were all masked and following Covid 19 protocols. The made short work of removing a very large dead and very dangerous boundary tree from our backyard. They outlined their plan to us prior to the job and were able to convince us that they could do the job safely. They were courteous and did minimal damage to the lawn. Ryan & Lee are courteous and super professional. They arrived within the hour of the call to take down a huge tree that was at a dangerous incline. The condition of the tree and surroundings was assessed and a quote provided which was very reasonable. It was scary to watch as Ryan climbed up the adjoining tree to secure the leaning tree and interesting to watch their technique to safely take down the tree.
