Run absolutely as far as possible from this place! My father passed away and I utilized Griffin as I was from out of state and they had previously handled my grandparents services. I traveled to town and handled the cremation paperwork in person and was told his ashes would be ready by the end of the week (which I would still be in town). I picked up the ashes (which were split into 2 temporary urns) before traveling back home 7 hours. I was contacted a few days later to advise that they *think* the ashes I had in my possession were not correct. The boxes were sealed and the outside stated they were my father. In order to verify we had to open the boxes where clear bags contained my father. Which after a sudden and recent loss this was absolutely gutwrenching. Low & behold, the tag inside was not my father's and I had some other persons ashes. To which it was confirmed another person had MY DAD'S ASHES instead of me! Griffin seemed like they wanted to remedy the situation quickly as I was obviously upset and they significantly screwed up. I spoke to Brittany (the director) and the owner traveled to my house overnight to collect the ashes. I spoke to both of them that due to this negligence & major screw up, I would anticipate compensation once the correct ashes were given to me. Though I was very upset by the call I tried to remain calm and treat them both with respect as I know neither the director or owner was the person who mixed up these ashes and it was likely done at the crematorium. They both apologized and acknowledged they would absolutely be compensating me for this grave error. It took them several days to get my father's ashes correct (I would hope they are actually him but of course I'll never know for sure given this situation). To which they aimed to overnight ship them to me. I specifically requested several times to use UPS or FedEx as the US Postal Service has been consistently unreliable. I then received a shipping confirmation of NOT OVERNIGHT and also through the US Postal Service. I had to spend several days then stressing out to hope everything would make it to me. I received the package and set up a call several days later to discuss compensation. Brittany was late to our call because she was "driving and then checking into a hotel,"though we previously arranged this call you would think she would have had her schedule cleared... ? The call started and the funeral home had the gall to offer me a "free cremation". I could not even believe they thought this was adequate. First of all I met with Brittany for my father's cremation paperwork. She saw me in person. I am 33 years old! Also I live 7 hours away. I told her she couldn't be serious... not only would I not use this funeral home again even if it was for my dead goldfish, I would hope I have about 50-60 years left and also I live in another STATE. This was an unacceptable response given the scenario it was not even remotely reasonable. This wasn't some messed up fast food order they could just give me a coupon code for... I then told her no, absolutely not, and I felt a full refund at this point was the bare minimum given the gravity of the situation. She advised since it was more than $700 they had to contact corporate and she would be back in touch with me in a day or so. I never heard from her again. I called and emailed to which I was ghosted. I have since hired an attorney to proceed accordingly. I will be also contacting the state board to report them. The absolute grave negligence and emotional distress this place put me through is disgusting and I hope no one else ever has to go through this while grieving their parent. Our family's experience with Griffin Funeral Services left us deeply disappointed. For brevity, I'm going to focus just on some of the bigger issues. First, when we arrived and met with Pete Brady, my mom and aunt asked to view my dad's body. Pete told us, "We've got a lot of bodies back there," and went to see what state my dad was in. He returned and told us my dad had already been sent to autopsy. We are completely understanding of timelines and what has to be done, but not taking a few minutes before our scheduled meeting to ensure he had an update was unacceptable and made a terrible situation worse. Pete showed no sympathy or compassion during our meeting or during these blunders. My aunt and Pete briefly discussed her viewing after autopsy, so Pete called me to check in when the body returned. He told me, "He looks HORRIBLE, I mean HORRIBLE." While I understand him wanting to discourage my aunt from viewing, there are certainly more tactful ways to do that. When I went to pick up my dad's ashes, I watched as the woman at the front desk struggled to put them in a branded tote bag. She threw in about 10 promotional pens. Then, instead of taking one minute to walk around from the office to hand me my dad's ashes, she handed them to me through a window. Watching the ashes being handled alongside promotional items and delivered through a service window was disheartening and felt profoundly impersonal. It pains me to say that our experience with Griffin was marked by a fundamental lack of empathy and consideration. For those seeking a funeral service that provides genuine compassion and respect during such a delicate time, I would advise looking elsewhere. read more

I never thought I would write a review for a funeral home but Kristyn & the others at Griffin Funeral Home deserve recognition for their exceptional customer service. They were nothing but professional & comforting through the loss of my mother in law. Kristyn would answer any calls or texts with urgency & took care of the needs we had with the utmost empathy & sensitivity. We never felt rushed through any of our decisions or that it was "business as usual" for them at any time through this difficult process. Kristyn took time to explain all the details, offered comforting suggestions & listened to each one of the family to ensure everyone was included. Their faculties were very clean, organized & had nice spaces for their services...Though no one ever wants to have to use a funeral home, it's inevitable & I highly suggest you use this one. 5 stars no doubt! read more

Griffin funeral home dod a wonderful job on my mother's service ! I couldn't have asked for a more caring compassionate group of people .

We attended a funeral at Griffin Funeral Home on Saturday, June 8, 2019. We were friends of the deceased. During the memorial, the pastor failed to acknowledge the surviving mother of the deceased. We left the memorial during an intermission and spoke with the funeral home staff about the mishap. We were patrons of the business on that day, and shocked how we were treated as customers. Regrettably, the staff gave some lousy excuse there was nothing they could do and did not know if there was any animosity in the family. What a joke! We asked if we could write the mother's name down for them to hand to the pastor inconspicuously. They declined the offer, and opted to ignore acknowledging the deceased mother. Quite frankly, Griffin Funeral Home has a golden opportunity to fix the problem and chose to ignore it. You would be better off finding another funeral home to honor your loved ones. Find a funeral home who is thorough in their research and interviews of family members, and one who ethically honor all of the survivors who are present during the sermon. read more
