MARGARINE-In this world and in this dairy community who uses plastic spread? Shrimp seemed to be heavily doused in "smoke" flavor, again no grill marks. For this price point I had much higher expectations. Was excited for a steak in Declo, but won't be going back or recommending.

We came to Idaho from Arizona for Christmas; to spend time with family, friends and go snowboarding at Pomerelle since we have house in Albion. I am not a huge steak eater but I have been eyeing this restaurant for over a year and couldn't wait to try it after everyone I spoke to raved about it. We passed this restaurant everyday driving from Albion to Burley and finally had a chance to try it. I came with my bf and my daughter and this place is so massively huge on the inside and everyone is super nice. The one thing I wanted to eat were the rocky mountain oysters mainly because I haven't had it in years and ALSO so I can persuade my 12 year old to try it without being told exactly what is was. Yes, I am that mother. She isn't an adventurous eater so I thought I would try anyway- unfortunately they ran out of rocky mountain oysters but that was the only downer of the night. I can honestly say, I cant wait to make the 12 hour drive back to Declo just to eat at this place again. After we ate and went home, all we talked about on the drive back to Albion was how delicious dinner was and how we cant wait to come back. I was so surprised at how good everything was I asked for the next 4 days to come back just to order the same thing. We ordered: $10.99 Fried pickles: 5/5- perfectly battered pickles and very delicious $25.99 Dude (med rare) with fries: 5/5- meat was cooked to perfection $43.99 (2 orders) Filet mignon (1 med rare and 1 med) with one baked potato and one loaded baked potato: 5/5: Flavor from the wood was absolutely INCREDIBLE! I haven't had a steak like this in so long it blew my mind. The baked and loaded potatoes were also amazing! Drinks: $7 (2) Chardonnay- 5/5 $3.50 Dr. Pepper 5/5 $13- Double jack and coke 5/5 Total bill 166.91- Overall: Absolute steal in my opinion! I would have paid double that for the amazing meal we had. Cant wait to come back and eat everything!

Keep in mind, this place doubles as the RV park office so be patient. We were warmly greeted, grabbed some laminated menus and sat ourselves. It was easy to choose dinner out of the options since everything sounds delicious. Once you decide, it's time to pop back up to order at the counter. Service is beyond friendly and despite only two people working the counter, food comes out quickly and everyone seems to be well taken care of. My husband and I honestly had low expectations...I mean, this is an RV park restaurant. We were so wrong. We both ordered the pulled pork sandwich and fries for a side. Fries were wonderfully crispy with pillowy potato goodness inside...scrumptious. Fry sauce was a perfect compliment. The pork was smoked and tender, lightly kissed with BBQ sauce and slathered with coleslaw. The bun was butter toasted, yet soft. I would suggest some pepper to the slaw and though we turned down extra BBQ sauce, it would have made the sandwich even better.

I enjoyed the fall off the bone wings- so good! My husband had an amazing shaved rib eye hand held- I usually don't order sandwiches because there is too much bread- I plan to order this tomorrow- yes we are going back! Please stop in and enjoy a meal- you will not be disappointed.

Stopped in after a morning of hiking and exploring. We arrived to a fairly empty room, but by the…read moretime we left, there were 5 other tables being served. Service is friendly, a majority of the patrons were known on a first name basis, and the place is clean. The only slight issue is the soda machine is a bit loud for the space, but it wasn't anything terrible. Nothing I'd actually make a complaint about. I'm pretty picky about BBQ, and Ben's is great! The meats were done well, not dry or old. The brisket was the perfect level of fall apart tender and pairs really well with the "sweet and spicy" sauce. The ribs. Man. The ribs. We'll be getting a full order next time, we've already decided. They are amazing with the "hot" sauce. (Sorry, forgot what they named it). The bread slices are good sized and very flavorful. The brussels sprouts are seasoned well, and actually like I make them at home. They were cooked perfectly, not too crisp and bitter, notnto soft and soggy. They were just right with a perfect level of seasoning and the bacon tossed in really made it pop. In the end, we couldn't decide on dessert, but I knew we had to try it. So, I told Ben to pick. He recommended the peanut butter pie and I'm so glad he did. Full of flavor, rich and creamy. Totally hit the after BBQ spot. We'll definitely be back... with friends.

On 8/14/20, KM and I visited Ben Cenarussa's restaurant in Hagerman. There is actually another…read morerestaurant in Hagerman that I've been wanting to try for some time because they have alligator on the menu, but we chose to Ben's place because we both love barbecue and Ben is a new member of Southern Idaho Foodies. It was a good decision. Our experience far exceeded our expectations. Ben Cenarrusa is the nephew of Pete Cennarusa, one of Idaho's most beloved and distinguished citizens. He served continuously for over half a century in elective office, first as a member of the Idaho Legislature and then as Secretary of State. Ben shared that many members of his family have been involved in the restaurant business over the years. As a result, cooking is second nature to him. His mother makes all of the bread, pastries and desserts for his restaurant. Ben is a single dad, who will be the first to tell you that this restaurant belongs to his sons, Zane and Zander, which is the reason for the unique spelling of the restaurants name with the double Z's. KM and I ordered The Bull Sampler ($16), which is a full pound of meat that includes smoked sausage, pulled pork, brisket and tri-tip. It comes with a choice of two sides and Basque bread. For the sausage, we chose the smoked jalapeño cheddar. For our sides, we chose the coleslaw and mac & cheese. We also purchased additional sides of potato salad, baked beans and bacon fried cabbage. For the extra sides, all were regular ($3) except for the potato salad which was large ($5.50). The platter comes with one choice of barbecue sauce but we wanted to try them all, so we paid $.50 each for the four additional flavors. We loved all of the meats. KM loves brisket. It isn't my favorite but I thought Ben's was excellent. I loved the tri-tip and pulled pork. The Smoked Jalapeño Cheddar sausage was the best version I have ever had, and one of my favorite spicy sausages ever. I love that Ben didn't dial down the heat and that when you cut into the sausage, you can actually see generous green pieces of jalapeño and melting cheddar. We enjoyed all five of the sauces: Sweet & Spicy, Smokey, Tangy, Honey Bourbon and Bullspit ( extra spicy.) The coleslaw was a simple version but outstanding in its freshness and great flavor. The potato salad contains noticeable amounts of onion and dill, but they were worked well with the other ingredients. Next time, I would like to try the french fries which Ben puts a homemade seasoning/rub on. The mac & cheese was a very simple, child-friendly version. The baked beans were excellent. I liked that they were not overly sweet. The bacon fried cabbage was phenomenal! Imagine the best collard greens you ever ate, full of chunks of smoked bacon. The Garlic Basque bread that accompanied the meal was delicious. So much so, that we both bought a loaf. It makes great garlic bread and French toast. Ben graciously offered us a sample of his smoked Gouda mac & cheese, which he serves on Friday and Saturday nights with his smoked prime rib. He kindly gave us a sample of his smoked prime rib too. Both were outstanding! KM and I also bought one of each of the three flavors of turnovers to share: Apple, Cherry and Caramel Apple. The latter had just come fresh out of the oven. Each was excellent! In addition to the items listed on the menu, Ben offers an appetizer of smoked fried wings for 1$ each. He also has a Thursday night special of Smoked Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes & gravy, coleslaw and a dinner roll for $13.50. The restaurant is also open for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. On Saturday mornings, it's just Ben and his younger son Zander. Menu items include chicken fried steak, shoulder bacon, smoked applewood bacon smoked sausage, smoked jalapeño cheddar sausage and Basque Chorizo, all of which come with eggs, hashbrowns and toast. There are also Biscuits and Gravy and French Toast. Like and follow Bullzz-Eye BBQ on FB to keep updated on specials such as Ben's Birria tacos. He uses the same recipe for his Birria as the famous Teddy's Red Tacos in California. Ben's food is so good that it is worth traveling for. For me, a perfect day would be getting to Hagerman early enough for breakfast at Bullzz-Eye BBQ, exploring the surrounding area including Twin Falls and heading back to Hagerman to have dinner at Bullzz-Eye BBQ, before returning to Boise. Ben recently bought a state of the art food truck and is considering shutting down his brick and mortar restaurant in the next 6 to 8 months and driving to the Boise/Nampa area to offer his menu, which will allow him to spend more time with his boys.
