My little mountain goats hiked around 5.8 (moderate difficulty-to us) miles to Rainbow Falls with some Black Bears and three timber rattlesnakes! This hike has a bit of an ascension, so be prepared to sweat in the first half of the out and back hike. I love the fish hatchery at the front of park and history around it. This place is absolutely breathtaking, both literally and figuratively!

However, the trail is all dirt and some mud,with tree roots and rocks sticking up along the trail. We had to bend down several times to get under tree branches and tripped a couple of times on the terrain. The trail narrows at several points, one of which my wife stepped on a snake that may have been a Copperhead!!!! I've seen other pictures of snakes on the trail of the venomous type. People we spoke to on the trail also talked about snakes being seen on the trail. I'm sure there are snakes on other trails as well, but this experience wasn't great.

The first thing you will notice downtown is the bears. They are all over the place and each is so unique. The bears are auctioned off each fall to provide money to charities. It is an easy downtown to walk around with plenty of crosswalks and benches to rest and watch your surroundings. Downtown has numerous restaurants; shops; museums; art galleries to keep you busy. Festivals appear to be held throughout the year as well. An antique show was occurring while I was downtown. I liked the setup that Main Street was closed but the side streets were still open to traffic.

Jerk. The third company, Mullinax and Mullinax, showed up when they were supposed to, and told me they'd email me the estimate. That's a red flag - if they're going to email you an estimate, they never do, and if you call them, they won't answer. But these guys! They showed up, gave me estimates with options, were really willing to work with me, came back when I found two more trees that needed to come down to adjust the estimate, and came out to do the work on a 99 degree day. Of the six trees, three were right up against the house, one was a multi-trunked monster, and also close to the house, one was just huge, and the last one threatened the power lines. None were exactly easy. And it was so hot! They went above and beyond, blew the leaves off the roof, cleaned up, did a great job. Was it expensive? In an absolute sense, yes, but they earned and deserved every penny. I am so grateful! They brought 2 loads of chips later in the summer. Then, last month a huge, healthy-looking 90' tall tree fell and I learned that 4 others were at risk of hitting buildings if they went down. There were also 2 junky cherry trees and a smaller crab apple to be taken out. Two crews (10 men) started at around 9 AM and finished at 6 PM. One man cleared a long area of brush to be covered with chips, which was my original plan before the tree fell. They ground all of the stumps, the huge root/dirt ball, spread all of the chips and cleaned up as they worked. I am very happy with their work, promptness and pleasantness.
