We had such a great time in Grindelwald!!! We went up to Grindelwald first using the firstbahn to get to the top. Once there, we enjoyed a self service lunch and enjoyed the views at the first view vantage platform. After that, we hiked about 30 min down to Schreckfield to get in line for the mountain carts. The line took ~45 min. The carts were SO FUN!! You can't use your phone in the bikes, but I wish I could have because of how gorgeous the views were. After taking the carts down to Bort, we transitioned to the trottibikes and biked down the rest of the mountain, which was also super fun! Again, gorgeous views and a beautiful trail to follow. Once at the bottom, we got snacks and drinks at Basecamp while enjoying more of the views. We had such an incredible day in Grindelwald and highly recommend it. We hope to be back some day!

Just a stunning little town tucked away in the Swiss Alps. Great hotels, solid food, and amazing access to hiking, biking, etc. The Jungrau and Eiger are just up the road and the super quaint town of Murren is fun for a day trip.

Beautiful city! A must see. It appears to be a ski resort but we were there in the off season. A lot to see and do. Please add to your lists of places to visit when In Switzerland

Beautiful nice quaint village. Beautiful mountain backdrops with snow on the top. Nice train statio to commute between Interlaken. There are a lot of mountain activities here, so plan ahead of time to visit here early as some of the activities get closed around 6 pm. If you can stay here for a few days it's even better !!!

Great excursion/activity day in Grindelwald. I would recommend purchasing the unlimited gondola + 2 activity pass. Our favorite activity were the mountain carts down the mountain, be careful as they can reach some fast speeds! Be prepared for some lines while at the top, but ours moved relatively quickly. The cows at the top are also a Switzerland must see. You are able to walk freely with them which was pretty cool. They charge, so don't touch. Overall a great experience for family, friends or as a couple.

Stunning picturesque mountain town in the Jungfrau region. Plenty of hotels/accommodations to choose from. Easily accessible by rail or car. Several gondolas located right in town to take you to the best peaks in the area (Grindelwald First and Jungfrau Top of Europe. People around town are nice and helpful. Overall, a great base to stay at for your trip around the Jungfrau!

Yelp Review 2026 #114:…read more When you stay in Interlaken, you have two options: stay close to Interlaken Ost or stay close to Interlaken West. Both have pros and cons depending on what you value. If you want a quiet area and plan to go to Harder Kulm, Grindelwald, Jungfrau, and Lauterbrunnen - stay close to Interlaken Ost. If you like shopping, lots of restaurant options, nightlife and plan to take a cruise to Lake Thun a stay close to Interlaken West. If you're taking a train to Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald - be sure to pay attention to the labels on the floor. Everyone good on. The same train number but you don't want to hop on the wrong carriage. The train splits in Zweilütschinen. If you have 1st class ticket, you might want to slum it out in 2nd class on the right carriage or keep walking til you see a 1st class carriage and risk getting left behind! It's just one train ride, you'll live! On the way back to Interlaken Ost, there will be 1st vs 2nd class carriages. If you only paid for 2nd class tickets, do not hop on the 1st class carriage. Yes, there's a lot of people in 2nd class and you'll end up standing because there's no seat available but that doesn't give you the right to go to 1st class. There's always somebody checking your ticket. It made for good entertainment for me guessing who didn't have 1st class tickets but were in the 1st class carriage - I got 3/3 correct! It's always the ones who watch videos on speaker. This is where 1st class tickets become more obviously better. There's always seats in 1st class. It's quieter. There's no store, cafe, restaurant at the station per se. However, you'll find plenty around the station.

Great panoramic view....the scenery is superb. I would recommend anyone experiencing the follicular…read moreto reach the high peak

It makes a midway stop where you can enjoy the Jungfrau, Eiger, & Mönch Mountain Views. There is also a restaurant you can eat at while there. There is another train that goes all the way to the top after that halfway stop. Once you get into the mountain it makes one stop midway for a midpoint lookout in the mountain to take pictures then continues to the very top.

While many tourists will use the train year-round, it is also a form of daily efficient transportation for many between Grindelwald and Wengen. I visited the station on several occasions during a week of skiing. If you're planning to take the train to the Jungfrau, this stop is where you would switch. As a result, you'll see a variety of visitors in the train station area during the winter: locals, skiers, and non-skier tourists alike. If you are skiing, the station dumps you right next to the piste. A short walk will get you skiing (head towards the Coca Cola tipi). Whether you are skiing or not, there are several slopeside restaurants and bars that offer both indoor and outdoor dining/drinking options as well. One tip is if you are carrying skis across the tracks to start skiing, be careful not to drop your skis in the greasy part of the track as that grease may stick with you for a while (one of my friends mistakenly did this and had a mess on their coat later on). Whether you are skiing, hiking, or not, this really is a wonderful vista to take in and this train ride is memorable.
