If you want a quiet area and plan to go to Harder Kulm, Grindelwald, Jungfrau, and Lauterbrunnen - stay close to Interlaken Ost. If you like shopping, lots of restaurant options, nightlife and plan to take a cruise to Lake Thun a stay close to Interlaken West. If you're taking a train to Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald - be sure to pay attention to the labels on the floor. Everyone good on. The same train number but you don't want to hop on the wrong carriage. The train splits in Zweilütschinen. If you have 1st class ticket, you might want to slum it out in 2nd class on the right carriage or keep walking til you see a 1st class carriage and risk getting left behind! It's just one train ride, you'll live! On the way back to Interlaken Ost, there will be 1st vs 2nd class carriages. If you only paid for 2nd class tickets, do not hop on the 1st class carriage. Yes, there's a lot of people in 2nd class and you'll end up standing because there's no seat available but that doesn't give you the right to go to 1st class. There's always somebody checking your ticket. It made for good entertainment for me guessing who didn't have 1st class tickets but were in the 1st class carriage - I got 3/3 correct! It's always the ones who watch videos on speaker. This is where 1st class tickets become more obviously better. There's always seats in 1st class. It's quieter. There's no store, cafe, restaurant at the station per se. However, you'll find plenty around the station.

Yelp Review 2026 #124:…read more I was staying in Interlaken and had lots of free time. I finished walking around Thun after a few hours. So, I went to the other lake town, Brienz. I went to a lot of castles and caves. I still had free time after all that. I pulled out my map app and saw pictures of this pier - the views were spectacular so, I took 2 buses to get here. I got off the bus not exactly sure where the pier was - just head towards the water. But the whole place is by the water! It's a super quiet town in Iseltwald. I walked for a little bit and saw a crowd - that must be it. Apparently, this place was a filming location for a Netflix show "Crash Landing on You". I've heard of it but I've never seen it. So, I was baffled with the crowd that was there and why they were taking so long doing all sorts of poses and taking so many pictures. You have to pay 7CHF at the turnstile to get to the dock. You get a view of Lake Brienz with mountains in the background - some of which were snow-capped. Behind the pier is a hotel with a statue of an Alpine ibex. The whole time I was here, I didn't see a single boat dock at this pier. If you want to catch a ferry, there is a pier to the left of this one. The bus schedule said there's a bus every 30 minutes. I waited over an hour! I told myself I'll watch "Crash Landing On You" when I get home. I still have not...

MUST DO if you have not done this in Switzerland. You take multiple cable cars to the top of the…read moremountains covered in snow, even during the Summer! Although there will be significantly less snow in the Summer compared to the Winter! You can stop at each cable car stop and walk around the quaint neighborhood and just stop at the breath-taking views. There are a few small shops in the neighborhood, but no big supermarkets or anything like that. You keep taking cable cars higher and higher and you get the most beautiful views of all the famous mountaintops and lots of great picture moments with the amazing background. Towards the top of the cable car stops, they sell food, drinks, and merchandise. Don't forget to visit the James Bond tower where they did a lot of filming at the tower and the entire scene where they ski down the mountain! TIP: USE YOUR SWISS PASS FOR HUGE DISCOUNTS FOR THE CABLE CAR RIDES. If you don't show the swiss pass when buying tickets, you will be paying a huge premium, the same price everyone without a swiss pass is paying!

We based most of our Switzerland stay in Brienz and this was about 45 minute drive for us. The mountain roads leading up to the area are gorgeous. I guess because this is huge on TikTok you need to pre-book your tickets. Luckily I was able to book for a day out. I chose one of the earlier time slots so we could also spend some time at the top. Roundtrip price for adults is 36CHF and for kids 18CHF so this is not the cheapest activity but if you plan to spend some time at the top hiking and enjoying the scenery it's definitely worth it. Make sure to bring snacks or lunch because there is nothing at the top. If you plan to hike wear good shoes the paths are rocky. If you just want to walk around the lake and dam sneakers are fine. There is a bathroom and porta-potty at the top. Make sure to show up for your time slot early. You will need to park at the lot (free) and walk about 5 minutes uphill. If you miss your time slot you're walking. We found the staff friendly, helpful and spoke multiple languages.

My room was in the adjoining building, just past the dinner room. No elevators in this hotel. I was on the third floor, all those steps just mean a better view and that it was. I had a long balcony off the bathroom with the most inconvenient views of the snow covered mountains. Such fresh crisp air. My room was very big, queen sized bed, two chairs and a dresser with a tv... never turned it on lol. Huge bathroom with an old fashioned tub/ shower. Everything worked great. Hot shower and a comfy bed. We had a buffet breakfast each morning with everything you would need. We enjoyed an amazing homemade dinner. The best food in Switzerland. I had to go back for seconds. This place is located in a cute town that was easy to walk around. With to mini marts... great prices on snacks and alcohol. The train station is so easy to access, we took this to Jungfrau and to near by towns like Interlaken. Beautiful outside garden out back of hotel, along with a jacuzzi. Sign up at reception for a time. There's a small room with a bar in the hotel, great beer and cocktails. The entire town shuts down by 10 pm. People are very respectful of this . The staff here made us all feel so welcomed, for being here only a few days they become family. I will be back.

This is our home away home for two days in Switzerland…read more I heard that the owner and founder of travel tour agency (expat) we used for our Europe tour co -owns the hotel. He tends the garden himself whenever he visits the country as we were told. Part of our package was a stay and dinner/breakfast at this place. Our party of three got the top floor, three single beds in a room the end of the hall with a very nice view of the community and the mountain. The windows were wide enough to enjoy the view and felt the crisp air as we opened it up the moment we walked in. The room is spacious. We have our own bathroom/shower. The other room next to us has a balcony which I wish we had too. Our room doesn't need an air conditioning besides we do not see any system in reference to, the weather was cold during our visit. The weather here was gorgeous and smells clean. Welcoming lounges, big backyard garden, breakfast nook outside and a Jacuzzi are extras for the hotel. Nice innkeeper and staff welcomed us and serviced us during the stay. The breakfast and dinner meals included with our package were quite remarkable. The restaurant and the bar are modest in size. Having meal in a different country with the feel of being a local in terms of its food and the ambiance were something unique for an experience. The fondue and their schnitzel were good. I enjoyed most our host whom prepared some exciting thing while we were dining and dressed up with their traditional costume. Few hundreds steps away from the train station and the grocery stores were nearby. Quiet neighborhood and seemed very safe to be here. Well recommended place to stay especially if wanted to be near to the Interlaken area. No lift though is available but the staff is willing to carry your luggage's if happen to be assigned on the higher floor.

It felt like a private ride up to a resort, but it's just the normal public transport to the mountain. Only 8 people (or 1 cow) at a time can travel on this gondola. Yes, they actually do use it for cows when it's an emergency situation. Honestly, I was surprised that not many tourists visit this place. I'm assuming that's because large vehicles and buses can't navigate the very narrow & winding cliffside road that leads up to Isenfluh. Most people head to Jungfraujoch and totally miss this secluded gem. We were very fortunate that Chris (our tour guide) made this detour for a lovely hike & lunch up at Sulwald Stübli. The lift takes you right up to the restaurant. Depending on the season, there are monster scooters (with big wheels) and sleds (to sledge in the snow) for a rental fee. We took the hiking trails up to the viewing platform that has a magnificent view of the iconic Swiss mountains. The Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau are prominently seen from this point. We could even see Jungfraujoch's observatory in between the Mönch & Jungfrau. It was great to actually see where we had been prior to visiting Sulwald. What a gorgeous view! There were roosters along the way. I believe the cows had already been taken down the mountain in a previous parade. Although, they may have been on a different hiking path that we didn't take. The highlight for us was the lift ride, the view, and the restaurant. Simply AMAZING!! It's a farmer's life up there. It's most definitely worth the trip off the beaten path to get to it. We'll always remember this day!
