The food is really great! A tad pricey with not so great service, but the taste is good.
The service, though! I'd booked online and mentioned I wanted to use a special promotion (free beer with every burger). My friends and I arrived and we're seated, only to immediately be asked to move to a table upstairs as a second reservation for the same time and count had a wheelchair. Not an issue at all (we're not monsters), but it singaled what was to come.
In the back, we were seated next a father and son who tried and failed to grab the waitress' attention. While we looked over the menu, the same waitress began to rearrange tables while seemingly ignoring the pair. When she finished some minutes later, she disappeared. Around ten minutes later the same waitress came to take their order, only for the Father to announce they were leaving as they couldn't wait another hour for the food to come.
The waitress, looking distressed, turned to our table and to take our orders. Oddly, she couldn't seem to settle on using English or German and often had to ask up to repeat as her device wasn't ready. After this, our drink orders came slightly later than acceptable, but there was good company and the atmosphere was nice so all is good. Unfortunately, we could never grab the waitress' attention to order another round.
Around forty minutes later our food arrived, piping hot, smelling amazing and obviously freshly made. This was great, but a little warning about the backlog in the kitchen wouldn't have been amissed. Unfortunately, one of the orders was incorrect (with us baffled as to how as the names were nowhere close) and the waitress suggested we take the burger with offer made to comp or discount the unwanted burger if my friend took it. He refused and the waitress claimed it would take another 20 minutes until the new burger could be made. At the response of, "that's fine," she looked confused, then angry, and finally took the burger away.
Positively, the new burger arrived within ten minutes or so, and we all enjoyed what were very, very tasty burgers and fries. I had the Truffel Heaven Burger with the special dry-aged beed with Parmesean Truffel Fries and chipotle mayo and I truly was in Truffel Heaven. It is one of the best burgers I've had in Berlin. The plates were cleared in a good amount of time and when we flagged to pay the waitress appeared promptly. But, it is only at this point we were informed the special promotion was for weekdays only. As we'd failed to confirm this when we took our order, we don't push the subject and leave. Later, when we reviewed the e-mail we saw no mention of the weekend clause in it.
Basically, the food is good and the place looks great. But, the service is at best so-so and makes it not worth it. read more
