I recently purchased a home where they had installed a furnace 4 years ago. The existing filter…read moresaid it was 14x20x1 so I purchased a couple of new furnace filters and attempted to replace the old on. I soon found out the standard size of 14x20x1 doesn't fit and is why I say attempted. The standard size is too big! It takes some odd size that I can't find anywhere locally, 13 1/2x19 1/2x7/8. I called them and the guy I spoke with said he didn't know anything about it. He said he needed to come by to look at it, so he would stop by the next day to take a look. He never came over and it's been at least a week and he never even bothered to call me back. I did a search on Amazon and it's the only place you can find them, and they're $53.88 for ten of them! I'm on a budget like everyone else and being forced to pay this much money upfront for a year's worth of filters isn't something I should have to do. Best advice: before purchasing any furnace or purchasing a home, do yourself a huge favor and make sure you can just buy a standard furnace filter off the shelf!
