Requested them take a look at some recently planted arborvitae that seemed to be struggling a bit…read more Gave some recommendations for remediation, came out and reworked the planting to help the trees survive through winter and beyond. Very knowledgeable and polite, fair pricing, quick and efficient. Plan is to use them again for additional work to (finally) complete my vision for the rear of the property (long neglected by the prior owner).

During a tree service at my home on 3/21/25, Dorshak crew knowingly operated a bucket truck with an…read moreactive hydraulic fluid leak. This is a dangerous petroleum product that causes immediate permanent asphalt damage, environmental damage, and is extremely dangerous to people and animals. This resulted in a chemical spill up and down my 280'x12' driveway, onto to the road in front of my house, as well as a constant drip from where the truck was housed to my home (statute below). This incident has left deep-set stains (permanent) and potholes that need to be professionally repaired. Initially I had it cleaned enough to keep the oil from tracking into my house and to protect people and animals. This oil will cause immediate burns if touched and can be fatal if ingested. I was on-site and called their office to report the truck was leaking oil onto my driveway. The foreman told me they put cardboard under the truck where parked to "contain the oil". They did not leave my property when reported but continued to work which increased the amount of oil spilled onto my driveway. I took pictures up and down my driveway and asked the foreman to do the same, which he did. Mr. Dorshak called me early the next morning to send a crew to "clean it up" admitting liability but failed to report the spill which by state statute is mandatory. I needed special equipment and handling or the asphalt could be totally destroyed. From the date of the incident to present, the stains and potholes are up the middle of my driveway where they had not been before, and at the time were puddled on the road which my neighbors witnessed. This is negligence/property damage and several code violations by statute. For the permanent stains and potholes to my driveway Dorshak is legally and financially obligated to return my driveway to its original condition including stains and potholes. Mr. Dorshak will admit no liability while admitting his truck was leaking hydraulic fluid on public and private land which puts him at 100% liability. To date he has not paid me for damages. He wants me to pay for the tree service in full so he can dismiss the claim. STATUTE 49CFR - In WI a leaking hydraulic truck on private property and public roads is prohibited under WI HAZARDOUS SPILLS LAW and FEDERAL MOTOR CARRIER LAW which mandates that leaking vehicles cannot be safely operated or transported. As such, I would not recommend using their service.

After the first round of April storms swept through Wisconsin last Monday evening, a 35-year-old,…read more40+ foot spruce in my backyard was left leaning at about a 30-degree angle. It was on the verge of falling--and worse, it was positioned to take out several younger, healthy spruce trees that would be extremely difficult to replace. With more severe weather (including actual tornadoes) forecast for Tuesday evening, I urgently began contacting tree services. A couple of companies came out quickly to assess the situation, but getting a crew on-site before the next storm hit that evening proved to be a major challenge. Most crews were already tied up with even more urgent jobs involving structural damage, which I completely understood. As Tuesday evening approached and I still didn't have a confirmed crew, I started bracing for the likelihood that I'd lose more trees. I followed up one more time with John from Man vs. Tree, hoping for a miracle--and he delivered. Despite an already packed schedule, he committed to coming out that same day, just as the storm was moving in. What I didn't realize at the time was that he wouldn't even have his full crew--just himself and one helper from the office. They arrived right as conditions deteriorated. With tornado sirens going off, strong winds picking up, lightning flashing, and eventually heavy rain pouring down, they got to work. They carefully anchored and stabilized the tree and, against the odds, brought it down safely--directly away from the surrounding trees, with zero damage. By the time they finished, it was nearly pitch dark due to the storm and time of day. It was an incredibly impressive display of skill and composure under pressure. A few days later, as promised, they returned to cut up the tree and haul everything away. They also recommended a great stump grinding service that took care of the remaining stump without issue. On extremely short notice and under truly difficult conditions, Man vs. Tree came through in a big way and likely saved several of my other trees. I can't thank John enough for his responsiveness, professionalism, and outstanding work. Bottom line: Man vs. Tree delivered when it really mattered to me. Fast response, great communication, and excellent work under pressure. Highly, highly recommended.
