Requested them take a look at some recently planted arborvitae that seemed to be struggling a bit. Gave some recommendations for remediation, came out and reworked the planting to help the trees survive through winter and beyond. Very knowledgeable and polite, fair pricing, quick and efficient. During a tree service at my home on 3/21/25, Dorshak crew knowingly operated a bucket truck with an active hydraulic fluid leak. This is a dangerous petroleum product that causes immediate permanent asphalt damage, environmental damage, and is extremely dangerous to people and animals. This resulted in a chemical spill up and down my 280'x12' driveway, onto to the road in front of my house, as well as a constant drip from where the truck was housed to my home (statute below). This incident has left deep-set stains (permanent) and potholes that need to be professionally repaired. Initially I had it cleaned enough to keep the oil from tracking into my house and to protect people and animals. This oil will cause immediate burns if touched and can be fatal if ingested. I was on-site and called their office to report the truck was leaking oil onto my driveway. The foreman told me they put cardboard under the truck where parked to "contain the oil". They did not leave my property when reported but continued to work which increased the amount of oil spilled onto my driveway. I took pictures up and down my driveway and asked the foreman to do the same, which he did. Mr. Dorshak called me early the next morning to send a crew to "clean it up" admitting liability but failed to report the spill which by state statute is mandatory. I needed special equipment and handling or the asphalt could be totally destroyed. From the date of the incident to present, the stains and potholes are up the middle of my driveway where they had not been before, and at the time were puddled on the road which my neighbors witnessed. This is negligence/property damage and several code violations by statute. For the permanent stains and potholes to my driveway Dorshak is legally and financially obligated to return my driveway to its original condition including stains and potholes. Mr. Dorshak will admit no liability while admitting his truck was leaking hydraulic fluid on public and private land which puts him at 100% liability. To date he has not paid me for damages. He wants me to pay for the tree service in full so he can dismiss the claim. STATUTE 49CFR - In WI a leaking hydraulic truck on private property and public roads is prohibited under WI HAZARDOUS SPILLS LAW and FEDERAL MOTOR CARRIER LAW which mandates that leaking vehicles cannot be safely operated or transported. As such, I would not recommend using their service. read more

I have hired the Dorshak crew before a few years ago. They did excellent work then and nothing has changed. Most recently I had them take down a very large fir tree, trim three other trees, And remove a small arborvitae before it encroached on others. Their crew was professional, courteous, and fast. They left no trace of having been there except for the stump which they came back and ground down later. They also agreed to leave all the wood chips and grindings for me to spread around the lot. Dorshak Tree Service just removed a large, dead ash tree from our front yard in Whitefish Bay. We are very pleased. Great crew of guys who worked hard, finished quickly, and were meticulous about cleanup of the whole yard -- not only branches, but debris on the sidewalk from the wood chipper. Very knowledgeable, pleasant, and went the extra mile when we wanted to save a few logs for the fire pit. They cut up part of the trunk, hauled the logs to the backyard, and even stacked them. Big storm last night had a large pine tree leaning and slowly heading toward my garage when I woke this morning. Called Dorshak at 7:20am and they actually were there! My husband and I were very pleased with the service we received from Dorshak Tree Specialists. They took two of our trees down - one small crabapple and one large brown maple. They came to our house on time the day of removal, and promptly got to work. I was happy the man I spoke with on the phone gave me the warning that the machines were loud (I was home that day). It took a minute for them to take the smaller crabapple down, but the larger maple took a little more time. I was intrigued watching them work. They had that huge tree down in an hour and a half! They all worked as a well-oiled machine and there was no one, at any time, was just standing around. They also ground up the stumps for an additional fee. They came back two days later and finished the job. Overall we were very pleased with the service done by Dorshak and will probably used them again when the time comes. read more

I was extremely impressed with every aspect of my experience with Dorshak from start to finish. We had a large project (four trees removed, plus stump grinding, and five additional trees trimmed) and called several local companies to get quotes. Within two days of my call to Dorshak, Myron, the owner, came to my house to inspect the trees and give me a quote. He was polite, friendly, and patiently answered all my questions. Myron handed me a quote before leaving that day, and I was surprised to see that his price was significantly more affordable than those of the other companies I had contacted. The other thing I greatly appreciated was that Dorshak gave me several options within the quote: amounts were listed for if I chose to have stumps ground or not, if I chose to have the stump grindings hauled away or not, etc. The work itself was perfect. All four of the trees were removed without a trace. No branches or sticks were left in my yard, and it truly looked like the trees had just vanished while I was gone at work that day. The workers must have meticulously walked my yard and picked up the sticks. The trees that were trimmed were left looking healthy with no visible dead limbs. I worked with Dorshak during a very busy tree season when many people were having dead ash trees removed, so I was scheduled out a few months, but this schedule was clearly communicated to me ahead of time and throughout the process. The workers always showed up as promised and completed their work quickly. I would go with Dorshak again in a heartbeat, and if I ever have future work that needs to be done, I will be calling them without hesitation. This company took advantage of my situation to overcharge me. They gave me a phone estimate of $475 but then I figured while they were up in the tree they could take off a second branch and a few little branches that hung over my neighbors house. They charged me the emergency rate for a total of $1300! For just two limbs and a few branches! Get your estimate in writing or just don't use this company! read more

The crew - led by Dylan - showed up Friday (6/16/17) mid-afternoon and did a very thorough job on my beloved Green Ash - healthy now/and for the next several years. We had a huge tree trimmed . My neighbor wanted the wood , so the crew went out of their way to carry it and stack it where my neighbor wanted it. They even helped my husband do some trimming on another small tree ( which wasn't in the contract ) They left the place cleaner than they found it - they even fluffed up the grass where the tire marks were. We have used Dorshak for 7(!) years to service 4 of our mature trees. They are clearly struggling. When we asked about it last year they did give 3 trees a "free" fall fertilization. We had another service look at them recently and found they were severely under dosed over the 7 years. We will lose these 30/45 foot tall trees (20-45 year old trees) in a year or two to the exact diseases that we had Dorshak Tree Service treating them for. Dorshak Family Tree Service came out to remove the brush from about 18 mid size trees that I had taken down in my yard. They chipped the brush and grinded the stumps. Dorshak Family Tree Service did an unbelievable job today. They came out quicker than anyone else would, in fact 2 days before their own eta, and did a superb job. I would highly recommend Dorshak Tree Specialists. Jesse came over to do my estimate and within about two weeks the tree was trimmed beautifully. We have a fence in our backyard and they trimmed our large Ash tree with ropes and pulleys; very impressive work. Upon request, we collected the wood chips from our tree and used them as mulch around our house! What a good deal! We had two other estimates from other companies.
