I have not written a review like this before, but felt it necessary in this case. I called this company to find out whether or not they took on "small" jobs as I just needed the caulking done around my bathtub. A person named Richard got back to me in a very short period of time, leaving me two messages-one from a landline and one from a cell. Great. Very responsive. I called the next day and started to explain my situation to which Richard said, "Text me your address with a picture of the tub, the wall, the bathroom floor, etc." I then mentioned that I didn't need all of that work, just the tub, and as I started to explain, Richard interrupted saying, "You know what? You don't need me. Do it yourself," and he hung up on me. I had called one other agency who explained to me that they didn't do small jobs like mine, which is fine, but this guy Richard was incredibly rude for no reason whatsoever. I cannot recommend this company based upon this bad customer service experience alone. read more

I have never written a negative review about a service provider before. I wish I would've been warned about doing business with Grout Rescue CT. I made the mistake of only reading what was on their website. I contracted them to clean the grout/silicone in my shower. The estimate was very high ($1400) but Richard led me to believe that as a local business their work/services were better. I like doing business locally and frankly didn't do my research. His technician arrived an hour and a half late and stayed less than three hours. Within six weeks I was getting mildew on several areas of my ceiling. When I contacted Richard to ask for followup, he was very dismissive and frankly insulting. He basically accused me of not being aware of how to take care of my shower (which I've done for 20 years). I feel so foolish for having contracted with Mr. Fogel. I am a very dissatisfied customer. read more

Miracle workers. I had no idea big a transformation grout work was going to turn out to be. I got an immediate estimate on 3 projects and they accomodated my need for a fast turnaround. Regrouted a tub wall that had loose tiles and cleaned the rest of the grout, cleaned grout and tiles in another shower and perfectly caulked a tight squeeze sink. John did excellent work. I called to get info on grout cleaning, Richard the owner said to send him pictures, so I did. He immediately responded with a price. We spoke on the phone and he was going to be in the area the next day which worked out absolutely perfect. His crew of two came and we stopped in to see how they were doing and they were very friendly and the grout was getting very cleaned. Richard of Grout Rescue is very pleasant to deal with and provided me with many options to clean/repair my bathrooms and kitchen. I have tried everything to repair my tubs myself, but to no avail. I'll give Richard the 1 star for fitting us in this week on short notice. From there it was a terrible experience. I booked the job by phone with Richard, telling him I needed the joint where the bathtub meets the wall tiles, re-grouted. He gave me a price of $400 which is high but I needed the work done quickly so I accepted this price. I live out of state and left my assistant to meet the guys and then pay them when they were done. My mistake was not insisting she watch them like a hawk. Instead of re-grouting, the simply caulked!! 2 hours of work, and not even the work we agreed upon, for $400. I called Richard as soon as I found out what had happened (within a couple of hours of the guys finishing), and he insisted I had asked for caulk and refused to accept that he got the instructions wrong. Since the work was done, and there was no fixing it now, I asked for the price to be adjusted because I would have never paid $400 for a bathtub to be recaulked. He then hung up on me. I called back and got voicemail. I left him a message, and have not heard back. This guy is rude, arrogant, and represents the archetype of the A-hole new yorker that's only in it for himself. I am sitting here in shock that a local businessman refuses to make something right for a customer. So much for supporting local businesses! Rip-off artist, BUYER BEWARE! read more

Work done was as expected from initial consultation, was exactly as explained to us, and was within the original estimated price. I was just about ready to throw in the towel, so to speak, and subject myself to the horrible mess and expense of tearing out the existing tile and grout (vintage 1989) when I thankfully came up with the idea that maybe, just maybe the grout could be cleaned/restored/refreshed/repaired. I was absolutely delighted when Richard Fogel quickly got back to me with an honest and reasonable scope of work and cost estimate. I called Richard at Grout Rescue to ask about a tile floor in our kitchen that had not been professionally cleaned in years. I wasn't sure if the whole floor might have to be regrouted. Richard came the same day to look at the floor and immediately said that he would be able to fix it by cleaning the grout. He worked on a sample area to show what it could look like.
