Breakfast on day one was a terrific baked frittata with homemade preserves and a chili/chutney, maple smoked bacon, fresh squeezed orange juice, hot strong coffee. Day two was lemon ricotta pancakes with local sausage - fabulous! Owners have great knowledge of the area and shared a bunch of stuff with us. The other room is downstairs and the bathroom is shared, but has the walk out and lake view. The hosts are great and super friendly and they were more than happy to accommodate the dietary restrictions, just as gluten-free and vegetarian. Breakfast was wonderful and having it in a beautiful setting with a pretty amazing waterfront view, just really adds to the feel and mood of a quick weekend getaway. The pricing was extremely reasonable, and while Avanti isn't in the heart of the action, the location was still within driving distance to most of the major attractions in Bloomfield and Picton. Avanti will probably be my Bed and Breakfast pick for when I come to PEC for a weekend getaway.

When booking our PEC trip, we had hoped to stay closer to town, but the other B&Bs we looked at were already booked. In the end, we were glad that we booked at The Miller's House, as we had a very peaceful stay. Our room and the communal parts of the B&B were charmingly decorated, and there are several nice outdoor seating areas, though we didn't take advantage of them. We had let Bob, the owner, know about our dietary restrictions ahead of time (I'm a vegetarian, and my husband is allergic to nuts), and we were served lovely breakfasts both mornings, savory one morning, and sweet the next, with homemade biscuits, bread and jam, and vegetables he said were from a friend's garden. We were the only guests staying at the house at the time, and he sat down with us during breakfast to chat and was enormously helpful with activity suggestions. We had done some research before our trip, but we didn't know about quite a few of the places he suggested, and were happy with the recommendations we followed. Bob even provided recommendations for the next stop on our roadtrip, Kingston, and packed us some biscuits and bread for the road on the morning we left. The wifi can be rather slow. While I shouldn't squander vacation time glued to my screen, my husband and I couldn't be on the Internet at the same time to check email, upload photos, and look up restaurants and attractions, without our devices seriously slowing down. A note to guests booking to Expedia: Bob prefers payment via e-Transfer or cash, rather than charging the credit card you used to book via Expedia, since they charge him 4 percent, which he would add to your lodging costs. Since we were coming from the US, we couldn't do e-Transfer (which I think is a Canadian-only thing?), so I would suggest American guests who booked via Expedia to bring enough cash with them for the bill.

Our first night, we mentioned that my husband is "gluten-free", as I forgot to indicate his requirements in advance. The next morning, we were served excellent coffee, along with a magnificent breakfast of locally grown and harvested food, complete with Gluten-Free biscuits, freshly prepared by our host Bob. The presentation of the meal followed that of a top restaurant or hotel. Far beyond our expectations. After breakfast, Bob proceeded to map out our trip for the day, included the best wineries (including Top Dog, Exultet & Light Hall), cheese (Fifth Town) and restaurants, including Blumen. We followed all of his suggestions and had a superb time. One of our very best vacations. A wonderful rest, charming host, delicious, gourmet breakfast and dog friendly! Wow - a definite highlight of our summer. We look forward to returning!

The home is truly a century house and it is beautifully maintained. The owners, Sandra and Ken, were lovely. The breakfast in the morning was beautiful and delicious. Our room and bathroom were so lovely. It was a terrific stay. They had a little fridge that guests could use which was really helpful as we were making day trips and needed somewhere to keep our drinks cold. It is in a convenient location close to shopping and a short drive to the beach. We were in the area again and stopped by to say hello. We were greeted by Sandra. We would love to come again and bring our friends because we loved it so much!

The check-in is at a small building in the middle of the property and a little tricky to find, but the front desk was very nice. The room itself was quite nice inside, with a little sitting area and fireplace, and the restaurant is within walking distance. All that said, the bed itself was not very comfortable, and the toilet paper in the bathroom was the equivalent of sandpaper. Wish I could have given them a higher rating overall.
