I've been meaning to do this review for some time... I started out with Dr. Lamichane as my first evaluation. I was nervous as heck because I admittedly hadn't been to the dentist in some time... She was so kind and patient during my initial meeting. Answered all of my questions with no judgement. I greatly appreciated it. Especially because I was all nerves. Then I had a bunch of appointments with Dr. Horan. He was awesome! He made sure I had zero pain and was comfortable during the process! Dr. Horan and Sindy (who assisted him) calmed my nerves, and were very caring. I have also had my teeth cleaned by Trish and Sharon with a consultation with Dr. Sonntag. All were great and very informative on how to care for my teeth. I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon Grove Dental! read more

I am a Vietnam war veteran with an additional Aetna Supplemental PPO Dental plan. I am in need of new dentures, contacted Grove Dental, made appt, had 1st impression made. Office staff verified (twice) at that 1st visit that they would accept Aetna's proposal of $1,602. Ten days later I return for another fitting Now they tell me they are NOT sure I have Zero co-pay for the dentures they have listed at $4,800. I leave asking them to clarify all this. NOW, they receive confirmation from Aetna, my agent and I do a conference call, the person At Grove Dental again confirms I am and will not be liable for any Co-pay PRESENT DAY JULY 27th 9:30am I arrive for my designated appt, again the office manager tells me they have not received the confirmation from Aetna, THIS is now the 5th incident where Grove Dental has no ides what they are doing when it comes to patient rapport. HOW, many times must I or any patient put up with such incompetence where the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing, do they not talk to each other at Grove Dental does one tech do something and not tell the others, does one office administrator do something and not write it down or tell any of the others working in the office? TODAY, the office manager wanted me to have a seat so she could go over my records, why, are yo hoping for a different result than what you already have after 5 times of quoting me and Aetna a price for your services. SORRY, you're inefficient and NOT professional when after all this time you still can't get your act together. lused to love Grove Dental and would tell everyone to go here. But now I tell everyone to never go to Grove. For the past couple of years I have had nothing but horrible experiences with Grove. They have double billed me, my parents, and I know friends of mine who were double and even triple billed. Every other dentist bills the insurance first and then you pay why they say you owe. But oh no not with Grove. You are paid in full at the time of your service you then receive a bill for double sometimes triple the amount you have already paid. Frankly it is borderline financial harassment. The doctors always seem rushed because of how many patients they have. The last time I got a filling the doctor didn't even wait until the novocain took affect and started drilling. I will no longer be a patient of Grove and will NEVER go back or recommend anyone here. Update from my original google review. I have since been to a new dentist who has told me that she doesn't see any reason as to why I have so many fillings. I now have permanent tooth pain because of the amount of fillings. I also have now have extreme anxiety going to the dentist because of the last experience I had at Grove. read more

I have been a customer of Dr. Dale Grove when he started his practice with Dr. Brown over 40 years ago & was completely satisfied. When Dale's son Jeff joined the practice, I continued with Grove but Jeff sold the practice & the current owner/mgmt co, Premier Care Dental, a NY mgmt co. has instituted a menu of Pricing that is twice to 4 times the cost of Berks County Dentists. ( I did my own mkt survey for implant cost on 5 local top 10 Berks county dentists) & Found a $2,000 to $4,000 higher cost for an implant. Premier states on their web site mission statement 'affordable', however that's NY & NJ high end pricing & not secondary markets. I explained this to the Asst. Mgr at Grove & the result of her inquiry was 'NY was not adjusting their menu of pricing for Berks County'. I was not going to pay double for an implant when locally I could get the same service for substantially less. In addition Grove now charges for work performed that day before any insurance coverage is researched. ( an estimate is calculated however mine was $1000 under estimated) so I paid the higher amount. Also, Grove now charges a 3% credit card fee, for medical work with their 'double cost fees. The work performed by Dr. Weber was excellent, however, he had little discretion on the fees directed by NY Head Office. I have found a local dentist to complete my implant at almost Half the Cost quoted by Grove Dental so I'm NOT continuing with Grove Dental after 40+ years there. Dale & Jeff would be Mortified that the 'successful business' they nurtured for years has become 'Corporate Larceny' in Berks County. My Money will Stay Local where we 'as customers' are treated Fairly. read more

My dentist who I was with for over 30 years retired so my family and I had to find a new dentist. So my wife and daughter and myself started at Grove. Well my wife and daughter only lasted less than a year because they were tired of feeling like they were being pressured to get things done that they didn't need. I unfortunately lasted 2 years but finally gave in when they wanted to do a deep cleaning and scaling and wanted $535.00. I came in for my 6 month cleaning and the girl at the desk told me that they wouldn't do the cleaning unless I agreed for the scaling. Well my wife and daughter enjoy there new dentist and mysteriously they don't keep getting told they need all these extra services. I visited this place once! as soon as I arrived they put on a chair and started taking Xrays. this was before they knew what I need to be done! than a dentist came in and asked what I need to be done. then he said it will be around $10,000 l said I need to think about it. when I was leaving they stoped me and gave me a bill for X-ra which was $259 and they asked to pay right away. Grove Dental Group is the first dentist I've been to on my own in my life. Growing up, my parents were pretty much absent from my life due to their addictions, so I never had dental plans or doctor's visits. I've never had any insurance. Now that I'm 23, I'm trying to take health into my own hands and be better. So, my workplace benefits in-hand, I scheduled my much-needed dental care with Grove Dental Group. They were the only place in the area that didn't have me waiting for months for an appointment, so I was excited. I asked them constantly, both the dental techs and administration alike, what my costs would be before and after each visit; each time, I was told my benefits would "cover fillings 100%." Wow! This insurance stuff is awesome. Fast forward to after I completed a sum-total of 14 fillings and on my way out I'm hit with essentially a $3,000 bill. I've never been in a situation like this before, but best believe this place has only reaffirmed my strict avoidance of dental and healthcare in my own life, which is sad but I can't see any other way forward without crushing myself with debt. 2 stars and not 1 because the work they did seems to be an improvement. DON'T GO HERE! Ever since this practice became "Grove Dental Group" it has gone completely downhill. All they want to do is sell you additional treatments, services, etc. This place is EXTREMELY expensive too! The girls that work at the front desk are unfriendly and unknowledgeable. For example, I lost my insurance and didn't want X-rays on my last visit. When they called to confirm my appointment, the caller said, "OK, no problem, just a cleaning then." When I got there, I was told they "LEGALLY" have to give me X-rays. Legally? What law is that? They just want to maximize the dollars they can shake out of each patient. This place is loaded with LIARS and run by greedy money grubbers! Once in a while you get a nice hygienist, they're usually pretty decent. I hope they lose all of their patients to other, more ethical dental practices. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! And if you are a hygienist looking to work here, DON'T! Below is the message the office manager left on our home phone. This was the FIRST and ONLY time Grove dental contacted us for our appointment we scheduled months ago. My husband and I adjusted our work schedule around dental appointments. We have NEVER missed any appointments with any doctor. Contacted Grove and was told they Cancelled our appointments and scheduled someone else within 20 minutes from Keisha's message she left for us at home. This is a HOME PHONE, you cannot, nor did she ever, text us. We have been with Grove dental for decades. They were bold enough to cancel our appointments since she said she could not reach us. This was the first and only time they called. I always Confirm our appointments via my work email, as I did in October. We scheduled our 6 month dental cleanings Months ago, only to have Grove Dental Cancel them based on Keisha's (their office manager) not reaching us on the One message she left. It is a holiday week, they were Closed and we Could Not even reach them to confirm. This is how they treat patients whom have never missed any appointments. "Good afternoon this is Keisha the office manager from Grove dental. Just giving you a call in pertaining to your appointment when Tuesday the second. We sent our final text messages we do need a response or we will have to remove those appointment out of the schedule." Below is my confirmation email from a hospital email: So, where is their policy written that dictates they will Cancel based on one phone call? I went there for years. Billing was horrific, and the turnover was very high. It seems I get a new dentist every year and never the same hygienist. Something happened and it looks like all the hygienists walked out. One office is closed, and they are now closed Friday's and it looks like hours are cut. This is a review I didn't want to write because my dentist is amazing. However, Grove Dental's billing department is a mess. I say this because they don't communicate with each other so when you call one person will tell you one thing and the next will tell you another. For example: I had a bill they were requesting to be paid early February for $152.00. I was trying to make an appointment and they wouldn't let me because I "owed" money. I asked for an itemized bill and received said item. My husband who also goes to Grove but has different insurance than me had an appointment soon after the phone call I made. After his appointment he spoke with the front desk, and they told him they saw the problem and why I was getting a bill when I shouldn't have and that they would take care of it. The next day my son had an appointment that I couldn't take him to so his father took him (his father is not my husband). I will call him Steve. So Steve took his son for his cleaning and after said cleaning, THEY MADE STEVE PAY THE BILL FOR $152.00. Steve isn't even connected to my plan in anyway and he also doesn't even go to grove dental. He was just there to take his son for a cleaning. So after he told me he paid the $152.00 I was livid because this situation was supposed to be "HANDLED". I called the office and connected to the billing department and told them they need to refund the payment Steve made. I explained that he isn't on our plan and should have never been asked to pay in the first place. The lady said she could see that insurance has sent a check out and they were waiting on it in the mail. So she said she was going to email her manager and ask for said return. They just needed Steve to call and verify. So we hang up and not even 5 mins later I get a call back from the same person saying it looks like the $152 dollars posted to my account and asked if I just wanted to keep it there. I told her no this isnt my money it is Steves and he NEEDS to be refunded she ok'd and then we hung up. So Steve calls and asks for the refund and then they tell him I need to speak with them after he was done. I call back and Colleen was telling me they can't refund him because I needed to replace the payment. I informed her that isn't what I was told before and that there was a check sent in the mail by my insurance. She says something along the lines of she wasn't aware of said convo and would talk to her billing manager to see if they can issue a refund. I then asked to speak to the billing manager because I felt like they were jerking me around. I was told the billing manager wasn't in and I would have to wait. I said ok and made sure she knew I wanted this situation handled today. I hang up get on the phone with my insurance and get dates checks were sent and for how much they were for, who they were sent to and also The check number. The check was cashed by Grove on the 7th of this month. I call Colleen back and inform her I have the check number on hand and the dates they were sent, received and cashed. Then she informs me she got in touch with her Billing Manager (who just 5 mins ago "wasn't in") and they figured out the issue and would issue Steve the refund. I ask why all of a sudden it was ok they tell me the $152.00 was not my account but my husband. When just a couple of days ago it was a bill, I owed on my account. She says is there anything else I tell her I would like a call from her billing manager. I don't understand what the office is doing but they are definitely sketchy and can't be trusted. read more

The staff is friendly and it is easy to make appointments. They do a good job educating you on your overall dental health. Grove Dental has hit an all time low. They sent me a threatening text to report me to credit agencies if I didn't pay their outstanding bill. I never received invoices in the mail and I told them that when I called to find out why they never invoiced me. I got called a liar. Love my care staff but the billing staff should really check to make sure their invoices left their post office. Or maybe just send a non-threatening text mentioning the invoices might have not reached you and you might want to know this might happen if you don't call us in the next few days. My entire family has been customers of this dental office since 2006; impressed by Dr Jeff skills, I have to say that many times I avoided his father but today was my last visit to this practice; after his departure, there is nothing good to say; getting worse with each visit. Completely irritated with this dentist. I have dental insurance and pay my fees at EVERY dental appointment. They NEVER send me a first notice, every bill I get in the mail is ALWAYS considered a 2nd notice, and then they send you to collections without informing you that your appointment will be cancelled because they sent you to collections a first time. This place has POOR communication skills. They text me saying I need to schedule my annual visit which was already scheduled. I called, and that's when they told me I was cancelled due to owing them ONE bill !! I requested to speak to the billing department left a message and received NO CALL BACK. So I will call and give them a SECOND NOTICE like they do me that I am calling to discuss this matter. I was out of work with covid for 1 month not receiving income, and this office never tries to work with you. My husband and I each went to Grove twice for cleanings. Overall, the staff were nice and the place is very clean. My concerns are as follows: 1. I was told I had 2 cavities. I am in my mid thirties and had never had a cavity until I came here. I allowed them to fill the cavities (in retrospect, I should have gotten a second opinion). They told me it would cost $40-ish. I was later sent a bill for almost $300. I called to ask about it and they said it was a mistake and they would send me the correct bill (for $20-40). They could not explain the $300 bill. 2. They tried to sell both me and my husband Invisalign. We both had braces as teenagers. Our teeth are close to perfect. We don't need Invisalign. I think this is an ok practice. Dentists don't practice evidence based medicine - this is a well known fact. This is mostly because they aren't subject to the same scrutiny as real medical doctors. So, no matter where tho go, you need to be your own advocate. If you go here, be sure to check your bill and be aware that they will DEFINITELY try to sell you something. When I go to the dentist, I just want my teeth cleaned. I don't want to be sold things. We'll be trying a different dentist next time. read more

I'd like to start out by saying that the quality of work done by both the hygienists and the dentists is top notch. They also use the latest technologies and the office is very clean and comfortable. My hygienist Jenna is phenomenal - smart, thorough, personable. She's one of the main reasons that I keep coming back despite living in the Philly area now. In terms of the quality of dental work - you can't beat it here. I'm giving four instead of five stars, however, because I also had a billing issue last year that ultimately cost me almost double what their original outlined cost was. I paid a fairly hefty amount out of pocket for a crown as my insurance didn't cover it all, and I paid that amount outright the day the procedure was performed. Months go by and I suddenly receive another considerable bill in the mail. Assuming it was a mistake, I called and the billing employee informed me that the insurance wasn't paying as much as they originally quoted and it was due to the fact that Grove dental made a mistake, as the verbiage/info around this is apparently usually on the insurance company's homepage, but in my insurance's case it wasn't as immediately explicit on the homepage of their site and Grove dental overlooked it. I found this very frustrating particularly because customers like myself rely on our dentist/ their billing department to handle the insurance end and present customers with accurate costs. Despite the fact that their billing department made the mistake, I ended up paying the price for it. Outside of the one poor billing experience I explained above, I've otherwise always had an excellent experience with Grove Dental and have been a customer with Wyomissing/Grove Dental since I was a kid. If I could give a zero I would. To say I am disgusted is a bit of an understatement. I am a transplant patient that got turned away because I "owed" a bill. Mind you I'm always getting a random bill that I "owe" months later from these people. They're SO money hungry it is disgusting. I was in the hospital for an entire year due to covid and a transplant. Due to my transplant it is very vital that I get my teeth checked every six months. I started with Grove in 2004 when it was just Dr. Dale and Dr. Jeff. I had the same hygienist each visit and knew who the doctor was that would be seeing me. I felt like a valued patient. Unfortunately, as the practice has grown and become more flashy, the quality has deteriorated. The visits felt impersonal, increasingly rushed, and I felt that they were constantly "upselling" me on products and services. I rarely had the same hygienist and doctor, so there wasn't much of a connection or trust in their advice, recommendations or anything else. The final straw was reckless billing practices. I saw them refuse to treat a woman whose husband - who had a totally separate account and his own separate insurance coverage - had a $150 balance on his account. Not long after seeing that, I caught a billing error where they charged me for their mistake in filing a claim for an out of network doctor, and they had also submitted claims to insurance for a provider that left the practice 2 years ago. I had to call several times before any action was taken and I was awaiting a detailed accounting of what they were saying I owed. They refused to clean my husband's teeth (an insured and fully covered service) while I worked to resolve the erroneous billing on my account, and they then claimed to not be able to provide me with an itemized accounting of the balance they say I owed. In fairness, after I called and raised h***, they erased the balance, but it took months. When I asked to speak with Dr. Jeff in the hopes of letting him know about my experience as a long-time patient, I was told he is no longer affiliated with the practice, lives in Colorado, and the office manager is the only person in charge (i.e. not a doctor). It never should have happened and should have been corrected as soon as I notified them of the clear error. I decided to take my family elsewhere. It shouldn't be so complicated. read more

They are money hungry and on several occasions have attempted to intimidate my teenagers 18 and 20 with added treatment expenses. Most recently they threatened my son to pay $25 for an appointment my daughter could not go to due to her medical disability. They told him they would not see him for his cleaning until he paid her $25 bill. I had to call multiple times to get in touch with the billing supervisor to address this and get them to reimburse my sons $25 dollars. I don't trust the billing dept and I'm strongly considering moving my kids elsewhere due to their aggressive attempts to add on expenses at every visit. I also requested to speak to the CEO and they said that wasn't allowed. After I got the billing dept. to reimburse my sons $25 a week ago I now received another $25 bill in the mail it is unclear for what. I'm sure they ate looking for every and any reason to try to charge me an extra $25. I don't recommend Grove Dental to anyone. Also, they break the HIPPA laws by sharing billing info with any adult living in the household. read more

On January 3, 2023, I went into the office for a teeth cleaning. I was given a list of procedures that was not covered by the insurance (from a treatment pan). The amount was $682.63, I reluctantly agreed to and paid the amount. Then month later I was sent an additional bill for $582.87. I called the office and ask to speak to the billing clerk, the clerk said that wasn't covered by insurance, the clerk told me "read the fine print". Fine print says your responsible for what not covered, I stated I was told it was covered. She re-stated read fine print (even if your mislead by the office), basically "BUYER BEWARE". I went in for a cleaning and came out owing $1265.50 and they didn't even perform the cleaning (the reason I went in for). They performed a procedure similar to cleaning (scaling and root planing, not to mention other procedures performed). Which I thought was the cleaning, after they completed, they told me I had to come back in for the cleaning. Then a month later they send me an additional bill for $582.87. This organization practices deceptive business procedures prying on senior citizens that are on a fixed income with no concern for the hardships their deceptive procedures put on customers by their "business case" for creating more revenue for the business. read more

Was highly reccomemded by my wife who went there several times for cleanings until they stopped accepting our insurance. So I had high hopes myself when I went after my front tooth was damaged from a medical procedure when doctors yanked out an emdoscopic tube too rough and chipped my tooth and damaged it and my gum. The receptionist were nice and gave you a tour. The dental assistant was nice and asked me what brought me in and what happened to my tooth. She really took the time to listen to me and my concerns She then took and x-ray and told me the dentist would be in. A few minutes later the dentist came in and things turned sour quickly. He was arrogant and seemed like he wanted to rush through and brush me off as quickly as possible. Told me he saw nothing wrong with the tooth even though everyone I know has said it looks shifted and chipped. Told me the x-rays were fine. Had to ask him to actually look in my mouth and point to him where the tooth looked damaged. Told me he didnt see anything and that i should come back and get a deep cleaning as if that would somehow make my damaged tooth all better. He looked and acted like he just got out of dental school. I normally don't care what a person or doctor looks like but from his rushed disinterested attitude I couldn't look past his skinny purple jeans and non doctor appearance. I didnt know if perhaps i was being punked and this guy was really auditioning to play The Joker instead of being an actual dentist. So after I got my free grab bag and disinterested Joker evaluation I was told to go up front and schedule that deep cleaning and I guses I was suppose to completely ignore the fact the edge of my tooth was black, my gum brought red and my overall tooth looking chipped. I walked out and left without scheduling any deep cleaning and never went back. Went to another dentist who took x-rays and low and behold the tooth that they completely dismissed was in fact fractured in 3 different spots. If you like fancy looking places that cater to hipsters and millenials and want deep cleanings and invisilign and all that cosmetic dentistry then I suppose Grove is perfect for you. But if you have legit dental issues like fractured teeth run as fast you can. Their bread and butter is telling you you need deep cleaning at 300.00 a pop. Just ignore the fact your tooth is black around the edge and fractured. The Joker is laughing all the way to the bank. read more

I recently took my three year old son here after it was highly recommended by the other ER nurses that I work with at Reading ER. The receptionist was fantastic, the dental hygienist was amazing and great with my little guy, and gave me tips on how to better help my son. But the dentist treated me horribly, and made me feel like the worst parent on the planet. Went to my first appt and they told me I had to get a set of 18 xrays of my teeth which they stated is their "protocol"; not to mention when I called to schedule my first appt I told them NO XRAYS and they agreed; however when I got to my appt they said I basically couldn't be seen until I got all of the xrays done. Of course after it was all said and done, nothing wrong with my teeth. All I wanted was a cleaning. What ever happened to the autonomy of patients? Money making scam!! read more

Staff is wonderful!!! Massage chairs, coffee/tea station, and even a nice blanket gift for new patients. Unfortunately their services are twice the cost as other local providers so had to switch to a smaller practice to complete my dental implant (Sinking Spring Dental). Would've loved to make this place work. read more

I like Grove Dental! I am never looking forward to anything even remotely doctor related and I truly feel quite comfortable here. Primarily it is because everyone I have encountered is extremely friendly and that helps greatly for anyone with dentist anxiety! Their facilities are basically brand new, so it's very comfortable and for the two fillings I've had done, I felt as though the doctors were very transparent and informative regarding what they were doing in my mouth and the cost. I would (and have) recommend Grove to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and friendly dentist visit. read more

Had been going to Dr Brown and Dr Grove for over 35 years. Now that Dr Grove's son has taken over, this place has gone downhill. Different hygentist and dentists everytime. Always try to sell you something when you come. Dr Grove not even available anymore as he just runs the business part. Just another corporation now.
