Wir hatten im letzten Jahr zum Hochzeitstag zwei Gutscheine für ein Frühstück geschenkt bekommen…read more Diese haben wir in der letzten Woche einlösen können, obwohl schon die Terminfindung seitens des Frühstücksbistros schwierig war (Urlaubszeit, ausgebucht etc.). Nach dem Frühstück wurden wir darauf hingewiesen, dass wir durch eine Preisanpassung zum 1.Januar 2023 pro Person noch einmal 7,50 € zuzahlen müssten. Auf dem Gutschein war kein Preis angegeben, so dass eine Nachzahlung eigentlich nicht zulässig ist (siehe auch den Bericht https://www.ndr.de/ratgeber/verbraucher/Gutscheine-als-Geschenk-Was-gilt-beim-Kauf-und-Einloesen,gutscheine138.html) Somit kostet jetzt ein Frühstück pro Person 32,- €, was meines Erachtens zu teuer ist. Qualität war in Ordnung, aber es gab nichts über das hinaus, was ich von einem 4 Sterne Hotel erwarte.

It is that this portion of the menu is small. As well, personal taste: I do believe the addition of the hotel / convention center destroys the original restaurant and halls. This place is absolutely phenomenal! If you're a foodie, you have to check it out. If you're not a foodie, you should still check it out. The reviews are super impressive and very well deserved, and popular with the locals it is. Always a great sign, right? Ok, so here's the deal: you enter the space down a few stairs from the street level. You order your dish and a drink at the counter. The place is made up of a pretty cramped connection of tiny rooms with only a few tall tables around. Some with stools. Most without. But in pleasant weather, the great majority of folks are outside on the open sidewalk umbrella-covered tables that are pretty much full of people either enjoying their food or waiting for their food. When they have a bunch of dishes ready, they put them out on the counter and ring a bell. What? No, I'm not kidding. Then a bunch of customers just swoop right in and grab their dishes. Apparently everyone is a regular and already knows the drill, but I still have no idea how people know who gets what or when that bell ring is for them or not. Just bizarre, but it certainly seems to work. These are very happy diners, for sure. Luckily for me, the counter-lady was really sweet and clued in this rather clueless American when my dish was included in which bell ringing round. I had ordered the seafood lasagna w/carpaccio. Sounded amazing, and it certainly was. OMG. Happy me! Delic!! Lovely fresh pasta and veggies in a somewhat deconstructed lasagna style with a lot of yummy broth. Somewhat soupy. Just fantastic. The other dish available that day was a swordfish with potatoes on a bed of greens. Looked amazing and appeared to be the most popular. The Chef creates the menu each day of only 1 or 2 dishes, based on the freshest ingredients available in the markets that day. Brilliant! Simple concept. Simple food. Nothing fancy. Just fantastically prepared super fresh big plates of homey food. Everyone brings out their own flatware/napkin/drink to their tables, picks up their own dish from the counter when ready, and self-busses and drops off their dirty plates when they're done.
