That place in Atlanta we went to had mostly chinese patrons who said that they're known for "real" Chinese food and flavors. THAT is what I tasted at Man Wah! Soooooo good! And the service from the staff did not disappoint! We even had a friendly conversation with a gentlemen who seemed like he as a manager or an owner. It was mid day during the week and it was not busy at all. We sat at a table with a lazy suzy which is great for groups so everyone can share. The food was good and it was authentic. The only thing I sent back was the mushroom tea (what??). I asked if they could just please bring regular old tea. Now, here's the kicker: the bill can to 125€, which isn't bad for six people. They didn't accept cards, but that wasn't an issue either since I had plenty of cash. I handed the lady 150€, and she wouldn't take it because it wasn't enough tip!!! Are you kidding?? She was super aggressive about it. My cousin, who speaks German, started asking "what?" and soon they were arguing! I pulled the150€ back and have her exact change. NO tip! Because of this, I won't be going back since she'd probably serve me spicy crispy lung (yes, it on the menu!)

A group of us who were in town for a conference, all highly educated scientists, from all over the world, who also happened to be brown and non-German speaking, visited this restaurant on July 11th, Thursday around 7-7:30 PM. The head waiter was super rude. He could not communicate in English, but our French friend tried to speak with him in German. Throughout service, he was rude and impatient with us and kept telling us to hurry up with ordering when we were asking questions. The food was mediocre, all the people saying on here that this was authentic Chinese food and very good, have never eaten authentic and good Chinese food. I'm from the US, and we have excellent restaurants here with amazing food and great, courteous service. We were so disgusted by his treatment of us, especially as he forcibly added a 10% tip without our permission. When I discovered what he was doing, he insisted it's mandatory in Hamburg to add 10% tip automatically. That is not true, tips are reserved for good service and are up to the discretion of the customer. Normally, I always add tip, but I have never encountered such rude, horrible service anywhere in the world!!!! Afterwards, our friend who understands a bit of German overheard him bitching about us to another customer and he even made a rude gesture to us, when we were leaving! Can you believe the audacity?! Frasers sells loads of designer stuff and I like to browse through the Gucci bags even if I cannot afford to buy one. Great shoe section from everyday brands to all the top designers.

There are separate rooms for functions and private groups. Prices are high, but so are portion sizes: if you want a varied sampling of their cooking, either go for a set menu (unfortunately minimum 2 people) or come with a large group so you can assemble enough dishes: It is Chinese cooking, so if you order a starter of cold pork belly, it will be just that, slices of cold pork belly. so an "OK" rating, with some cave-ats - I did prefer the sister original restaurant Ni Hao in Wandsbek.

Unfortunately, they don't speak English and most of us couldn't speak German (but it's on us!). The food is tasty and the dishes are well presented. A lot of flavors. It is quite expensive but the food proportions are big. I'd recommend that they let some rice on the table so we can serve ourselves when we need instead of getting up and asking them several times. They misunderstood some of our orders and the main dishes took more than an hour to arrive, but I think that it's perhaps because they're new to the business. Got there around 7pm on a Monday and it was really packed. I was eating my myself and asked the hostess where to sit- she said I could sit at smallish table with two other German lads. At first, I thought, how can I do that? Wouldn't they mind? But then I had remembered that communal style seating is quite common in Germany, so it was quite alright. It also was quite rainy, but that didn't stop people from coming in and queuing up to eat. My German was quite rusty, so I didn't know what half the things were on the menu (German only). So I opted for the Fischmix which a lot of people seemed to have ordered and enjoyed both on Yelp and TripAdvisor. The Fischmix, which comes with 5 different types of fish including tilapia and salmon, was really good and tasty (also a little salty- as expected as mentioned by previous reviewers), but I enjoyed the flavors and the dipping sauces to add to the fish. The Fischmix comes with a side of sautéed vegetables, which I ate with each bite of fish with some of the dipping sauce. Also, each fish entree comes with a salad, bread that's topped with pesto, and potatoes (which I chose the "chips" option). Definitely a hearty meal and well worth the €11.90 for my Fischmix entree. I'd definitely want to come back here again sometime on another trip to Hamburg and try all the other fish dishes. Hopefully next time I'll have more time and pop by Karofisch again soon!
