We have stayed here for seven years. Normally, we go in August, but this year, we stayed in July. The mosquitos and deer flies are definitely worse in July. There is a store next to the park that rents canoes, and they can deliver to your campsite. The lakes are great for canoeing. The fishing is pretty good, mostly small fish, but there are larger fish in some of the lakes. There are bears, but if you store your food and cooking equipment properly, you will be fine. There are raccoons, but they are easily scared off. There are three hiking trails, all shorter than four kilometers. The Beaver Dam trail has a lot of flies and mosquitos, but the others are fairly bug-free. This year, there was a forest fire nearby, so a fire ban was in place and it was pretty smoky. On the first night, we were looking at stars and pointing out constellations with a laser pointer. From the next campsite over, someone loudly asks their friends, " Am I tripping out man?" The staff were friendly, and they were thorough when we were evacuated (because of the fire). read more
