I have to give a lot of props to Payne Marine - they helped us out of a major jam and were friendly and professional. Can't ask for much more at a marina. My group and I ended up pulling into this place on our boating trip through Georgian Bay, and were welcomed in with open arms. This is the first marina I'd visited in the area, and the site itself is nicely laid-out. We all had a chance to visit the main office/store, which has a surprising amount of amenities available including an internet cafe and its own gas station. There are also a number of maps and guides you can buy for the local area. I knew I was in unfamiliar territory when I watched a boater sail up, have an attendant fill the boat's gas tank up, then tell her to charge it to his account without ever once leaving the dock. There's definitely a different vibe and culture to this place, which we experienced first-hand. We ended up getting into a boating accident after a member of my group (who had no boating experience whatsoever) accelerated out of the dock and ended up getting us lodged onto the dock via an errant wave. The boat nearly sank, but the staff were quick to run out and help us. They went above and beyond for us, lending us a motorized pump to get all the water out. Special shout-out to the employee who worked there, Alyssa, who was friendly and helped us out through the whole process. She even posed for pictures with my friend, LOL. The staff at Payne Marine were a great help and turned a momentarily-precarious situation into a fond memory. Will definitely be back if I'm out in Georgian Bay again. Worth a visit.

When I asked that he have consideration and respect for canoeists and small watercraft, I was told to "get the f*** out of my store", "we don't need shmucks like you around here", "get off my property and don't come back", and a whole lot more. The problem is that their boats (large aluminum Stanely barge type boats with front drop gate to load heavy equipment, jet powered - 35mph) cause a massive wake that can do lots of damage. See a pic of their barge here: http://bit.ly/qxQxrY One day someone is going to get knocked out of their boat or canoe and hit their head on the rocks, or drown, or get pinned between their boat and the rocks and be crushed... not to mention that many people bring their children on camping trips and they swim in the channel with the boat flying by 50 ft from shore. If you ever visit their business (please don't) please ask them to drive slowly and with care through the various channels in the park.
