Pat is a rare find. He personally came out to my home job-site and listened to everything I had to say with patience and without attitude like the first two contractors exhibited. After a clear understanding of what I wanted, Pat drew up a clear, detail-oriented contract that I understood and felt confident in, and it contained no predatory language that would allow him to charge more at his discretion alone and or walk away from a job in progress if I didn't agree with the company's opinion. Pat is a class-act! Now, the fun part. My wall is beautiful. It has allowed me to open up the backyard and the feeling of so much extra space is unbelievable! The wall runs 54' long and varies between 24" and 30" high made of new concrete block 10"x8"x18" resting upon a concrete footing. There are preliminary steps, the digging, the gravel beneath the footing compacted, the new concrete footing, the placement and cementing of the blocks and the pancake top. Behind the wall, drainage pipes, gravel backfill and finally, a dirt-grading on top to the edge of the wall. Did I mention all my field stones that were in the work area were removed along with vegetation that I cut to give clear access? When you are renovating your property and have unnecessary clutter like rocks in this case, having your contractor remove them is just one less headache since disposing of anything these days is probably regulated. This is the guy, and his crew, that you want working for you. I can't say enough and you will too if you hire him. Fair Price. Quality materials and workmanship. You've got to see my wall! When we moved in, I had an ammonia spill on our gorgeous countertop. I bought a diamond brush kit…read moreonline and got rid of the deep discoloration and went through 5 levels of hybrid sanders (300 to 3000) and yet was left with a large area of unpleasant deep scratches/grooves and the area was much harder to clean. I called 5 stone/marble companies and they consistently proved to be unreliable. Amazingly none of them showed up to their appointments nor called to reschedule, so I gave up. That was 3 years ago. I decided to retry this year and found one guy - Manny Guardiola (The Marble Guys). When he came by to take a look I could see how knowledgeable he was - he asked to see the sanding blocks I used and went on to explain how they are made, what they do to the stone, the type of "engineered" stone I had for my countertop and how the coating for the edges is processed to the underside where you can see a seam in the coating, etc.. He came the following week with an assistant and I forgot about the appointment and had just arrived in the city so I did the unthinkable, directed him to the garrage and gave him the code to open it and unarmed the alarm. The next two hours I traveled back to town I was contemplating my poor judgement and wondering what did I do? My wife and I had a terrible experience with contractors in the area including one defrauded us when we moved in and is still paying us through his criminal conviction so you can see why I felt idiotic... When I arrived (at around 11am) I saw a scene that was so impressive the I decide at that point already (before seeing the end result) that I would write this review...Take a look at the photo how he set up the work area protecting every single cabinet and the wood floors impeccably while working on the counter (two layers). They ended up working from 9am to 4pm (!) removing layers of scratches and blending into the large space of the counter. When I thought he was already done (it looked great), Manny told me he wasn't pleased with the way the new finish blends in with the sheen of the rest of the counter and went out to ACE to get a different polishing compound. He did not ask for overtime or change his original quote. The final result? Extremely well done, they cleaned up after the job and were just amazing! Highly recommended and fair pricing. What a disgraceful performance weeks later we noticed what they had done. The only place they didn't compromised was on the price. These are not honorable people I DO NO RECOMMEND THEM. One more thing I should say is that the slate roof was put on new only ten years prior by us.
