I have been a customer of H&R forever. I chose them because they were the largest, and most…read morereputable company I knew of way back when I first started doing my taxes. It was with great reluctance that I made the decision to part company, after multiple frustrations they have caused me. This year I decided to shop around between tax preparation services for two reasons. First, years ago they discovered that they had been over depreciating my house by mistake for a number of years. They advised me it would be fine to simply adjust that when I decide to sell my house. I am told by other preparers that if they were aware of a mistake, the only legal option is to go back and amend those returns. So H&R gave me illegal advice in this case. Last year, H&R charged me $421 to do my 2012 taxes. I complained to their corporate offices, but never received any communication back from them. No courtesy call. No apology. No coupon for future returns. Nothing. So this year I had Liberty Tax do my return. They charged me $200, because they honored one of their online coupons for a 30% discount. Even without the discount, their fee would have been $121 LESS than H&R. Liberty was not the only alternative I considered, but I chose them for their professionalism and helpful attitude. They have won me as a customer. Goodbye, overpriced and innacurate H&R! Good luck finding more suckers to replace me.
