Everything from the brick walls to the decor and seats all say "sports" without being too intimidating, even for non-sports fans like myself. I just love the clean and polished look and feel of the place. I've tried several of their barbers and most of them are consistently good. You can really tell they're experienced with men's haircut, and they're all very courteous. I especially enjoy the complimentary back, face, and head massage they give after every haircut. They have recently increased their haircut rate from P250 to P280. So instead of giving a P50 tip to my barber, I just give P20 so I don't go over-budget my allotted P300 for a haircut. They also sell different hair products like pomades, wax, gels, and many more. They come a bit expensive, but they seem good quality for the price. Would still go back here for my next haircut.

Cutting kids' hair is very challenging, especially when the kid is either hyper-active, not used to strangers or both, which is the case with my daughter. Robots and Dolls have the big guns when it comes to distracting little children from what is happening; toys, mini cars doubling as barber's chairs, a big TV blasting Hi-5, and iPads full of kids' apps. That somehow restrained my daughter from moving too much, along with me and our helper teaming up to make her sit still. But Ariel, the barber was so patient. He took his time cutting my little one's hair, careful not invade her circle of trust which was me and her nanny. He was even able to style her hair with bangs, which I thought would be impossible. The session lasted for over 30 minutes. Grown-ups can get groomed there too, but Robots and Dolls designed their shop especially for kids. I would love to come back there with my daughter soon and have her try the "pedicute." I asked the staff what that was about, she said it was just cleaning kids' feet, trimming their nails and if the parents approve, apply kid-friendly nail polish to their little toenails.

There are a handful of barber shops near the place I call home, and the one that I went to most recently is known as Oragon barber shop. This place is definitely 'pang masa' as it is inside a lot that has several eateries outside. Everyday people eat at the compound, from taxi and tricycle drivers to mothers waiting for their kids at the nearby school to the workers of the nearby establishments like a supermarket, wet market and fruit stall. There are only two barbers at Oragon, which has a steady stream of customers all day. The place has a TV and is air-conditioned, and a basic haircut goes for P70. A shave also goes for the same amount. The reason I am sure to go back there for my monthly haircut is because my barber not only trimmed my mustache and sideburns, he also shaved my several weeks' beard (or what passes for one) for free. I gave him P100 and he was most thankful because the other barber had just gotten a P10 tip from his customer. There is nothing classy about Oragon, but I find it the ideal neighbourhood barber shop where everybody knows everybody. Sure there are parlors that offer P39.95 haircuts, but Oragon's barbers give the classic cut which starts with scissors, moves to electric shavers, and ends with a newly-sharpened razor. With a name like Paquito's, though, it deserves some sort of recognition. Very classic 50s Filipino, if you like that kind of novelty. But I do remember a barbershop in this particular area. I think this is where my brother used to have his hair cut when he was a little 6year-old. He used to cry when my momma would suggest having his hair cut in a salon or a parlor with your typical ate/kuya. I believe it had something to do with solidifying his sexual orientation. He would vehemently refuse at such an atrocious suggestion. Paquito's would be his next best thing to ice cream sundaes and milkshakes.
