If your in search for a farmers market that is reasonably priced for NYC. Look no further than GSA Tomato in Brooklyn. It's convenient because it's located next door to ShopRite. You can definitely score some good seasonal fruits and veggies when they've got them. Love that I can find fresh papaya, mango, and other Caribbean fruits. The prices are better than Manhattan, but not as good as Jersey. The checkout lines move sloooow when it's crowded, and don't expect the same selection every time you come. I am so happy I found this store . The quality of the fruit and vegetables are the best in brooklyn. The staff is great and the prices are the same as Shoprite but Shoprite fruits and vegetables are disgusting. Shop here for everything fruits and vegetables. They also have milk meat and middle eastern foods. I love there basil and they are open 24 hours 7 days a week. I will never shop in Shoprite again read more

The store has signs posted everywhere that customers must wear masks and gloves, which is completely correct in the middle of the pandemic. However, NOT A SINGLE floor worker (and there were about 5 of them sorting produce on the evening I went) were wearing masks, let alone gloves. Moreover, they don't even make an effort to step aside when you're getting something from the section where they are working, standing less than a foot from you. When confronted in a polite manner about this, they just burst out laughing at you, and another one has the nerve to say "if you don't like it, then you don't like it" (exact quote). The only workers that wear masks are the cashiers. This is completely inappropriate and highly hypocritical, and if you are in any way worried about getting sick with COVID, avoid this place. read more

Similar to many other local veggie stands - with produce outside and an assortment of dry goods inside. What sets this place apart is the size. It's pretty damn big, and so is the variety. No you're not going to be finding ultra rate items (it seems), but as an example, today they had the big ass Italian eggplants, the long skinny Asian kinds, and the small round Indian variety. It's also right under an F train stop, so if you live along the line in Brooklyn, you might want to check it out - especially because it's 24hrs*. * Sometimes at 1 a.m., you simply want to play with a couple of melons. Their prices are really good and the quality of their fruits is usually very good. I bought a number of different fruits and veggies. The grapes were a little brown but otherwise ok They are open 24hours.. not bad. Parking is very difficult to find here. read more

The staff is so nice and sweet with my crazy 89 yr old grandpa. They always remember him and always listen to him as much as he wants to talk and they laugh at all his jokes. THANK YOU KING TOMATO! you are the KING! ...oh and of course, great deals on fresh produce (I don't think they have organic but seriously who cares in this neighborhood? I was just in this store a short time ago and I am totally disgusted as to what happened. First let me start by saying that there was very long line with only 1 cashier at checkout. But the worst part was that the cashier had a child with her and that child had His mask down below his nose and kept caughing constantly. This child should not have been in the store if he was coughing nor should he have had his mask down. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be told to mind my own business which I know would have happened. But I can assure you that I will be contacting the Department of Health to make them aware of this and can assure you that I will tell everyone I know about this!!! DISGUSTING STORE!!!!! read more

I like the fact that they offer different ranges of prices for different qualities of fruits and vegetables. They have a good selection of Best Health's sodas and seltzers, Israeli Prigat juices, pickles, Jewish salads like baba ganoush, Flaum's lox, cheeses, Marzipan rugelach from Israel, and many other items. Fresh challah on Thursday and Friday for shabbat, and cleaning items, too, from St. Moritz and other brands. This store has decent prices and is very convenient. read more

I can never set foot in King Tomato again. I have to buy a few pounds of spinach a week and the last several times I've bought it at King Tomato it's been practically unusable - every single package is at least 1/4 rotten and clearly very old. I asked an employee and they said "we can't put out new spinach until people buy all the old spinach" meaning they'll basically never just have fresh spinach for customers? Even the Shoprite next door has substantially fresher spinach and they have a famously lackluster produce department. read more
