Terrible experience with GTM Payroll Services. I paid GTM to handle payroll for my nanny, and I ended up owing far too much money to the State due to GTM not having the necessary Tax IDs. I have seen at least one other review citing this same issue. Yes, GTM did send me two very inconspicuous emails regarding the missing tax IDs. However, GTM sent me dozens if not hundreds of emails over the same period, so I did not even notice the relevant emails. When someone finally did contact me personally by email (note that nobody ever called me) they were not able to resolve my issue. In retrospect, working with GTM was a waste of money - I do not recommend their services. read more

Disappointed. We processed payroll through them, and when we terminated our nanny's employment, they failed to finalize the paperwork. As a result, we now owe money to the state that we were unaware of, and they refuse to rectify the situation. read more

I had an awful experience using GTM Payroll & HR as a payroll provider. And unfortunately this seems to be typical upon reading others' reviews. GTM did not enter the employer state ID number on employee's W-2 and only entered 000s which resulted in the employee being contacted by the state tax board and told they did not pay state taxes even though GTM had taken them from the employee's pay each pay period. This is threatening to employee and employer! Had to consult with private accountants to have the issue resolved which cost a noticeable amount in time and money. They also missed employee payments. And they also unexpectedly changed employee's fed and state tax withholding amounts without being authorized to do so. It seems this company needs to either hire some people who are skilled at performing payroll duties and who double check their work, which is key to accounting..... or just face the fact that this type of business is not in their wheelhouse and that GTM in it's current state should be permanently shuttered. I recommend you *do not use this company* - too many costly and nerve-wracking mistakes are made. read more

It keeps getting worse.. second time they deposited the wrong amounts on my bank account and then proceeded to reverse de deposits twice without any notification... because of this I cancelled my checking account of 25 years.. way to go.. can't wait to be done with this company.. not surprised about the reviews. read more

Stay away. One of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. I cancelled my agreement with them, and they continued to charge me for services, and claimed that they had actually credited my account with a refund for some of the charges when in fact it had been debited, despite me showing them proof of my bank statements. Getting them to refund the amounts was like pulling teeth. There always seemed to be something that they "mistakenly" forgot to refund. I ended up switching to a new payroll company, who said they got FIVE former GTM clients that very week to switch over. Given the other terrible reviews, there's something inherently wrong with they way this business operates. They processed ONE week of payroll for me and somehow, even with refunds, it ended up costing me about $150. Just unconscionable in light of their horrible service. read more

My pay check is always on time I am always paid after midnight on Fridays. Everytime I call cause of a problem they solve it right away

Honestly, Absolutely the worst payroll system. It's beyond slow and things rarely if not barely loads. I'm trying to update my tax form and I'm unable to do so because that section has been down for 2 weeks. And no one is ever available to actually help and seems to be lacking of knowledge. Matt was the very first person who picked up the phone when I contacted GTM, and he has guided my through every step of our very complicated, frankly unfortunate experience with a nanny. From taking a look and reviewing our contract in detail, to troubleshooting difficulties we were having with our nanny, to walking me through the complexities of the CARES Act as it applies to household employers, to explaining how we could let our nanny go, Matt was a trusted advisor who was willing to spend hours on the phone with me, patiently answering every question I had. Matt is the best at what he does, and I am so grateful for all his help. read more

Enrolling with GTM has been a truly disappointing, regrettable, and frustrating decision. GTM was recommended by our staffing agency, Aunt Ann's In-House Staffing. We were pleased with our initial conversation with Matt Owen, who was knowledgeable and assured us that GTM's expertise in nanny payroll, personal contact, and outstanding service set them apart from other payroll services. That was the last positive experience we had with GTM. We signed up, we paid, and the service has been HORRIBLE. Out of the gates, GTM paid our employee the wrong amount. After several communications, we were told that we should write the correct amount by personal check OURSELVES rather than their correcting it. We were also told that due to the timing of their error, there would be tax issues, and that we would hear back regarding these. This loop was never closed. We also signed up for a QSE-HRA through them. Nearly a month later, our employee still hasn't seen her health care stipend in her paycheck, and GTM is now literally ignoring our question of when this stipend will begin being deposited. They have told us we will hear from their insurance department in ANOTHER FEW WEEKS. Save yourself. Payroll companies are notoriously challenged, but it is difficult to imagine service worse than GTM. Sign up elsewhere, literally, ANYWHERE ELSE. read more

GTM agreed to provide me with all the necessary support to take care of my nanny taxes. GTM failed to file my quarterly reports on time, failed to change the frequency of such filing and failed to follow up with DC DOES on a possible waiver of the penalties. Due to their lack of professionality, I ended up paying over $1,000 of penalties to the DC authority. Horrible horrible service. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. We were forced to go with GTM after they purchased our previous provider in January 2022. In my opinion they lack very basic procedures to get things done properly. Did not fund or transfer money to our simple IRA for over two months. Even after alerting them still made continuous mistakes with the IRA. Once sent our weekly payroll to another company. But I guess that is ok because they credited our account $11.60 for the shipping charge that week. Then after my frustration level could not get any higher and I was sending aggressive emails they cancelled my account with a six days' notice. I tried to reach out to the owner Guy early to tell him of the problems. I could not even get an email for him. Zero human interaction. I think i received one call back after leaving dozens of voice mails. I can not recall a worse vendor experience in 34 years of business. They are pretty awful. I hired them because we employed a nanny for a period of 2.5 months. We lived and worked in one state, and she lived across the border in a second state. So there were two states to deal with. It's been 1.75 years later, and GTM still has not filed all the forms for employer taxes and to close out the accounts. So I STILL (1.75 years later) receive requests for reporting income withheld for the nanny in the state in which she lives. Not only that, the state in which she lives fined me $950 because GTM filed the 2016 Employer tax return (which we paid them to file) a year late in 2018 though it was due in 2017. With all of these problems (I haven't even mentioned the problems with my own state), they have refused to issue a discount or refund of their services. I will never use them again and will let others know. read more

I am a nanny. I had to deal with this payroll company to find a good sum of money missing. First they omitted one number on routing. Second, said that they would deposit the money in my account and should see it in two days. (never happened), kept blaming the bank and had over 3 hours back n forth wasted calling GTM and bank. They said they would call back and never followed through. Got ahold of them again and then told me they'd take it to the accounting department. When $ has been missing for 3 months why are you now taking it to the accounting department. Then they call me to tell me they screwed up and putting the account number of one bank onto another bank with that banks routing number. No apologies for numerous screw ups. Seriously, they cannot give any explanation for such poor performance. Do yourself and household staff a favor and find another payroll service. read more

This company has been a complete hassle to deal with. I had to set it up for a nanny I hired (it didn't work work, which I appreciate was not their fault, but every interaction I had with them made an already frustrating situation much worse). It took multiple calls and emails to get things set up initially, and they didn't honor discount codes for the setup fee. I called multiple times to get the setup fee discount processed and got a different answer every time. Then, I went ahead and canceled the service. That also took multiple outreaches and I got a rather threatening voicemail about how canceling could get me audited by the IRS. And at the end of the day, in spite of numerous promises for a call back on the set up fee, it was never refunded. I would not recommend using this service. read more
