I have worked with hundreds of different people in many different settings and I am here to tell…read moreyou that I have never had an employment experience like I had at Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg Kansas. For a very short time, I was a staff member of this facility. Out of ALL the facilities I have EVER worked for, this place was the most unfit healthcare entity I have ever witnessed. I have never dreaded going to work so bad until I worked here. The issues identified by the community 5 years ago continue to pervade the hospital and do not appear like they will change for the better anytime soon, which was a HUGE factor in my job dissatisfaction here. As an outsider and non-complacent "visitor" to this entity, I identified some problems that contribute to the culture of the place and the designation of substandard care. I will outline them below: Staff Turnover-I was in orientation with I believe 4 new employees, 3 nursing and 1 EVS. Two of those nursing staff did not make it through the 90 day orientation period before leaving their post, me included. From what I understand, this is not fairly uncommon. Agency Staffing-On most occasions, night shift operated with more agency staff than regular staff. No Staff Retention Efforts Poor Orientation Abusive Providers-Not all, but a few, were verbally and mentally abusive to the nurses. I sense a good chunk of providers are experiencing low job satisfaction rates as well. Toxic Work Environment-There was a large amount of nurse incivility/bullying from every directionThe negative culture was allowed to flourish and no one ever put a stop to it either. I never had one shift in the almost 3 months I worked there where I didn't hear nurses berating, scolding, yelling, gossipping or being intentionally condescending to each other or assistive personnel. I have been blocked from their Facebook page and all of my reviews have been deleted on multiple platforms.
