No direct deposit necessary. No minimum balance. Basically the only way you are going to get hit up with surcharges is if you are delinquent with your account. There is no bank that I know of that can offer the total package that First Bank of the Palm Beaches can. My only complaint is I have to wait 90 days to utilize electronic check deposits (not sure why) and I was unable to sign up for their online banking right away. It can take up to 48 hours to be approved. If you can deal with those 2 small nuances. Give them a try. I am not a fan of banks in general, but this one feels like home

As an investor, the term "certificate of deposit laddering" is meant to benefit the customer while allowing the bank access to client funds based on terms. A customer should be able to lock money into certificates of deposits on a monthly basis without a penalty. If I want to create certificates of deposits on the 1st of Every Month, for any duration, then the customer is authorized to do this. The customer should receive the advertised rate of 3.4%. However, Chase tries to tie all the certificates of deposit into a ladder system to reduce the interest rate and not benefit the customer any more. The customer is forced into a 0.02% interest rate. This is bad practice and penalizes the customer. Now, my nonprofit must debate closing their account after years to find a smarter way to manage its finances which benefit the 501.3(c)17. This banking location (even the banking institution) is robbing customers of ways to maximize their returns; a perfect example of corporate greed.

I did not get the run abound and when transferred to the proper department I was not forced to repeat the problem over and over again. For the past month someone has been using my account. Since I don't really check my account I was unaware. The person who committed the fraud to my account must have known all my information. I have a pretty good idea who did this and can't believe he would. The bank was also able to help me file a police report. This was devastating and I was very nervous that the bank would not be able to help me recover such a large amount of money. The person using my account must have known my weekly pay. As soon as I called this bank, they helped me right away. I tried calling the 1-800 # first but kept getting transferred so I called the bank near my work since I was still on shift. My weekly pay of $4700 for the past 3 weeks was completely returned to me and an investigation started right way. This was a total of almost 15k, that Chase was able to return, a blessing. This is truly the best bank and I am so grateful to all those who helped me. Wouldn't bank anywhere else. Thank you.

Generally, I'm a big fan or credit unions. My checking is with a credit union in Virginia and I have accounts in Florida with three credit unions. Guardians Is Scorn Worthy! They should be castigated by all. I recently had occasion to purchase cashiers checks from them. They screwed up the spelling not once, not twice, but three times. This triggered fraud alerts freezing my accounts, stopping a real estate closing and costing me three additional nights in a hotel. They couldn't have cared less. Arrogance & Incompetence never are a winning combo and that's all Guardians could provide. They also charged me five dollars each time they failed to type correctly. And although they promised to credit my account. They haven't! They do not tell the truth and will tell any clumsy lie to justify their incompetence. If you have an account here -- close it! If you're considering opening an account -- DON'T!! Also their wait times are very long. It's not because they're under staffed. It's because they have a poorly trained, criminally incompetent staff. With so many great credit union choices in south Florida, avoid Guardians Federal Credit Union. Response from Shannon is a TOTAL LIE! She proves my point about them being clumsy liars. My account was never on any kind of restriction. And more importantly, my promised refund on fees for their teller's gross ineptitude was never refunded. At least they eventually (four days later) took back their check although even on that one, they had misspelled my name. Four checks and not one all correct. They cannot even copy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This has to be one of the worst Credit unions I have ever dealt with, very poor customer service and a loan agent that lies even when we had proof.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Myself and a member who is also law enforcement paid off his loan on July 7th via Bank pay from Chase, Chase showed the funds had cleared the account and Guardian stated it was sent by check, that's a lie, it was a bank transfer and it was done instantly, ppl don't send checks anymore its all electronic. The loan showed closed on July 9th and again the agent at extension 1141 lied, the deputy who had the load with Guardian also felt she was slowing the process because she could, I reached out and she finally released the title on 7/20/26, I called on several occasions and she kept lying and she knew this was for a law enforcement customer. So I have had the vehicle for 2 weeks and could not drive it, Title it or get a temp plate because she was to lazy to do her job, again I understand the old days when it wasn't electronic but now a day there is NO reason for it to take 2 weeks to process. The moral of the story is she held up a vehicle sale for 2 weeks, the car just sat after spending good money for it and all because she was lazy and didn't want to work. So to law enforcement resources in Palm Beach, take your business elsewhere because they do not respect you and all that you do. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On another note there is no number you can call and talk to a person, I asked to speak to a Manager and she would not let me or give me their contact info, go ahead look them up there is no number to call that you can get a person a branch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I see a trend in the reviews, there are a lot of very poor reviews and Management should be ashamed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] read more

I agree with the other "low rating" reviewers. Guardians is the worst. We applied on line for an auto loan on 6/17 as we found a truck we wanted. Over a week later, my son went into the branch WPB to check the status. He was told he couldn't speak to anyone as it was a virtual branch concern because we applied onlne. He called the number he was given, mind you, this lady is in the building! Juliett gave him the "I have your application right in front of me". In the meantime, the truck was sold. It was the last 2018 in the area that had the options he wanted. He still wants to buy a truck so 2-3 days later, he called again to see the status. We have yet to hear from her. He left the VM that he wanted to buy the truck the weekend of 6/30 so he didn't miss the rebates. Crickets. I spoke with the supervisor, Marlene, today. She had excuses and said they were missing information. When were the going to tell us or were we supposed to guess that they needed more. We got a loan from another credit union, not even in our county. Competitive rates, no excuses! BTW, I have been a member for 34 years. Customer service has steadily gone downhill. Not only sub par customer service but their delay cost us an extra $5,000, the difference between a 2018 and 2019. read more

I wanted to share my experience as a 17 year member of the Credit Union. I had an awful experience with a 'call center' representative that upset me so much, I considered closing my accounts and moving to a Bank for the first time in years. After the awful exchange, I asked the rep to have an actual GCU specialist call me. God would have it that Rosie was the one who called me back. She made a tremendous first impression and righted every wrong I had experienced that day. I no longer intend to move my accounts! I have a new appreciation for the tailored and personal service I received from such a compassionate, empathetic and professional woman. Thank you for the damage control, Rose. My wife and I recently joined Guardians Credit Union and our first two experiences have been EXCELLENT!!! We have been assisted both times by the one and only Danielle Villanueva. Our first experience was setting up our account along with applying and getting approved for a personal loan. Our second experience was applying and getting approved for a car loan for my wife. She made both experiences enjoyable, fun, stress free and worked quickly and efficiently and took the time to explain every detail and answer any of our questions. Long wait but exceptional service!! The Taylor Road Montgomery Branch is always packed. What can I say, it's right in the middle of a busy part of the area, learning patience is a good thing! Once I made it to the window I was thankful I chose to pick up my check for my new car loan at this branch. Eleanor and Chris made the process easy and were super helpful!! Do not bank here. They are intercepting IRS Coronavirus stimulus direct deposits into customer's accounts. They take almost the whole direct deposit and apply it to loan balances and overdraft fees. We are in the middle of a global pandemic and they should not be doing this now. They then send you a Guardians check with very little left after they have grabbed the funds from your government funded Coronavirus check. People were out of work, have children to feed and do not know when they will see another paycheck and this is what they do. Do not bank here. It is awful! read more

Met with service advisor Sonel Elisma. He was professional, friendly, plus confident in the wire transfer process. I gave him a document which had all the information he needed to process the transfer from my account to the receiving one. Everything went smoothly. Mr. Elisma asked me to verify the sending document prior to the transfer. I confirmed the information was correct on both sides. At that time, he asked me to sign my name on the transfer document. He then processed the wire transfer. He then gave me copy of the document that I had sign. It was my pleasure working with Mr. Elisma and would use him again if need arises.
