Any Chapagne house that is officially partnered with the Relais-Chateaux organization has to be putting out some good product but dont believe that hype taste it for yourself. The 2002 Laurent Perrier Millesime. Yellowish green to the eyes, ripe fruity nose, stone fruit but dry on the taste buds. I could get used to liking stuff like this...not a cheap wine but definitely a good bang for the buck mid range Champagne.

Such an amazing property, Laurent-Perrier; & the stories alone could take hours to hear, but we had champagne to drink & a lot to learn. Until you're up close & personal do you get an appreciation for what goes into making a masterpiece like Laurent-Perrier. But the end product is worth everything. So I'll if you're ever in Champagne, France , stop in & ask for Nicole or call ahead of time. You'll be glad you did!

If I remember correctly, costs were something around €7-€10 per person and there were 4 varietals These champagnes are to be considered more of a food-pairing wine over an aperitif ( in my opinion ) and they were very buttery / oakey. it was interesting to even consider a champagne to consume with a main course but this region was the perfect education for our novice palettes There was a couple just finishing up as we entered and they were known to the neighbor as they were not charged for the tasting - it is all who you know...... And perhaps we would have better appreciated our experience if we better understood their harvesting & bottling process but given the host, we were only asked what flavor notes we picked up as we tasted each varietal. Amazing!!! All I can…read moresay. That's it! Well not quite but that about sums it up. Arranged for a visit and a tasting over the internet. Drove up a few minutes late but ok. One of the owners Phillippe have met us at the door and stated pouring from there most basic every day champagnes to the Grand Crus to the special productions of 4 Nuits, which if I have to classify it is actually Red rather than Rose, but still amazing. The Champagnes unlike other producer Roger Brun indicates the grape breakdown in the champagne so if you are like me and acidity of Chardonnay is actually not a good fit you can select productions with no Chardonnay (like Blanc de Noir) or with less Chardonnay, so you taste more fruity/flowery notes of Pinot Meunier or Pinot Noir. Overall amazing experience just don't forget to eat something before the visit because the tasting will give you a health helping of various champagnes!

They're the first fully certified organic champagne house (since the 70's?) and recently they've been dropping bottles in the ocean currents vs manual rack riddling. I'm serious.
