They will answer your email quickly if you have any questions when booking your reservation, as well as send you a confirmation email a few days before you arrive. We came here for the 2017 AIMS Summer Music course in Eastbourne College and loved the convenience of having the Birley Centre directly across from the hotel and the rest of the classrooms one or two blocks away. The cleaning staff were friendly and helpful, although a little absent minded at times (they forgot to refill our toilet paper a few times during our one week stay). On the main floor, there is an electronic piano that saved my life on a few occasions when the practice rooms in the Birley Centre were locked. Overall, I would definitely return on my next trip to Eastbourne!

Large car drivers need to be aware of the limited car park entrance size as it is somewhat narrow with a height of 1.9m. Front door fob key entry was a plus ! Good Wi-Fi. In a nutshell the property in question is in need of some T.L.C. Location is good, close to centre and seafront. Breakfast was good.The two staff I spoke with were pleasant enough. Eastbourne itself is what you expect from an ageing town.The sea front is flat which was ideal for our wheelchair. Toilets available as you meander along, free at the moment, but there are barriers installed for high season use I guess. There is a choice of theatres, depending on your choice. This review should be taken as constructive criticism.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and the hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. It is spotlessly clean and the rooms are all bright and very comfortable, decorated in neutral colours enlivened by attractive modern artwork. There are specious lounge areas for those who wish to meet with friends, take advantage of the free WiFi, or read in quiet, comfortable surroundings - but most of the bedrooms also have easy chairs and satellite TV. Onsite parking is provided for all guests, which is a real bonus in this part of Eastbourne. And the breakfast... well that is superb - and very generous! The sea, the shops and the theatres are all just short stroll away so, although you won't have a sea view at The Sheldon, the location is close to perfect. It will be a regular bolt hole for me in future.

Attention to cleanliness throughout the house is excellent. Room is welcoming, well furnished with a stylish, homely feel. Bathroom is a little dark being decorated in a mix of fawn and black slate tiles, but clean and functional all the same. Lovely finishing touches with welcome chocs on pillows, scented handwash in the en-suite (not too highly fragranced so boyfriend is happy to use too!) and hyacinth in a glass vase on the shelf above the sink (silk, but all the same, nice attention to detail). Breakfast in the morning will report back on quality there too. Big thumbs-up thus far!

Great rooms, great breakfast and helpfull owners. The common room downstairs was great to stay when we put the kids to bed, our baby monitors reached all the way there.

There are only 3 rooms in the house and all of them are decorated beautifully, as is the rest of the house. The breakfast (prepared by Wendy) is fabulous. There's a nice selection of fruit, cereals, tea & coffee, juice, and a warm breakfast including fantastic crispy bacon and fried mushrooms which are to die for. The breakfast is completed with home-made bread and jam, and most importantly, brilliant conversation at the breakfast table. The whole place is delightful, and if you're looking for a quiet romantic getaway on the south coast, I don't think you'll get better than this. Ocklynge Manor deserves far better than 5 stars. I'd give them 6 out of 5!

I was a solo traveller and stayed at the Gyves House for 1 night. I arrived on the last evening of the Airbourne tatoo and despite having been flat out that week, the owners were still cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was very nice too. I will definitely check the Gyves House first for availability when I next pay a visit to Eastbourne and recommend it to anyone who wants a more personal stay in Eastbourne.
