This is the place to stay in Amana. It is not a Fancy "High End" Motel, but it is Clean, Quiet and very convenient to the town. It has plenty of parking within a few feet of your room. Now the pièce de résistance is a gentleman named Mani. A manager is supposed to attend to the customer, but Mani goes that EXTRA MILE to accommodate you in every way. I stopped in the office for coffee in the morning, and having to carry 3 cups of Coffee it would have been very difficult. Without hesitation, Mani picked up two of the Coffees and carried them to our room. THAT is Service. Whenever we return to Amana, you can bet your bottom dollar we will stay at the Guest House Motel. Thank You Mani, for exemplifying what Excellent Service Means. Tommi & Skip

Good clean motel at a reasonable price. Only coffee in AM, but for the price a good deal

We ended up deciding to stay an extra night because of the weather going outlr direction. We did not try the restaurant here though, so that I can not speak of. The place was an old textile mill back in the day, so the industrial atmosphere is still evident. In more pleasant weather, it's close enough to walk up to shops or other restaurants. The lobby is warm and inviting. It was a nice place to go out and sit in front of the fireplace and relax. We will definitely be back!!! We love this place.

At 3pm, still no room.......we had four rooms, but the party had pretty much the entire hotel. At 4pm, still no room....but someone walked in the door at 4:05 and they received a room. At 4:15 again, I went to the front desk. Up to this point "Dave" was helping us. He was busy and an older taller lady with long dark & gray hair "helped" us. This is where it got ugly. The lady was the rudest hotel person I have ever met. I asked for answers to why and when. All she did was give me a nasty smirk and I actually told her to remove that smirk. I asked for the Manager, she said the Manager could not do anything about it. I asked again, within 15 minutes we had the Manager. We explain the guarantee we received when booking the Wedding and that we had a pre-wedding party to get to an an hour. She said they were having staffing issues and our four rooms have not been released yet. I informed her, I went to our rooms and the doors were open. The rooms were clean. She explained they have been inspected as complete yet. I explained to her that people have walked in and received rooms. I explained to her she needs to swap out rooms for people standing in the lobby vs. people who have not arrived. 15 minutes later we had three rooms. While standing with the manager as she clicked on her computer, I heard another guest ask the tall long haired lady, "What is going on?, Why aren't rooms ready" The same rude lady behind the counter which smirked at me...........Told the other guest, "It's none of your business." Wow. I thought her husband was going to jump over the counter at Ms. Tall & Rude. The next day I caught a room cleaner in the hallway and said they did not have to do a complete clean on our room. Just give us towels and coffee. We received NOTHING. Hotel Millwright way over promised and way under delivered. I'm shocked at the lady behind the counter. Dave (behind the counter) was nice.. The Manager did not have her arms around the operation. She made people stand in the lobby for an hour and a half while rooms were available, just not reassigned. Regarding the reception.......the facility was nice. However, certain food items ran out before all guests were fed. The bar was understaffed and the lines were long. Hope this review finds many people and saves you from the Millwright.

Our breakfast was really delicious and plentiful. They even had our favorite mango juice. Marc and June were lovely hosts. The decor fit the theme of the place and was attractive and well-placed. We enjoyed coming around a corner and finding a wooden cradle tended by near-life-sized dolls, for example, and stopping to check out all the old photos hung on most of the walls. We started to get a better sense of local history just by walking through our B&B! Pretty cool. The room was cozy and attractive, complete with "amana blue" walls and a lovely quilt on the bed. The bed was very comfortable, and the room included a writing table, which I always notice and appreciate. I like having a place to set up my laptop, even if I never end up actually USING the thing! Also, I'm a sucker for looking through all the local brochures and maps, and it's nice to have a surface for that. The room had a coffee maker and they supplied coffee, along with sugar and everything else you'd need for a decent cup or two (but seriously, don't miss the coffee served at breakfast. It was AWESOME, and I keep kicking myself for not asking exactly what it was!). I liked the shampoo and soap provided, which was great -- usually I'm not a big fan of what most hotels/B&Bs carry, but these smelled great and didn't bother my (annoyingly sensitive) skin. Makeup remover and towels specifically for makeup removal were also provided, which was a nice touch. There was a wall-mounted TV in the room -- being up high, it didn't take up much space or take away from the charm of the room, but made it possible to lounge on the bed and watch a movie. Lots of channels available. Joy and Ron were super nice. Joy gave us a map of the area and suggestions about possible places to check out. She spent most of breakfast in the kitchen (and wow, the breakfast was fantastic!), while Ron chatted with us and other guests out in the dining room. They were both great to talk to, and I'm pretty sure we're taking Ron's advice on how to buy our next car! Haha. I LOVED the dining room, by the way -- so pretty, lots of wood work and warm colors, just a great place to sit and enjoy coffee or tea and some amazing breakfast. There's a picture of the room on here, so be sure to check that out. Last but certainly not least, everything was clean -- clean bedroom, bathroom, dining area, hallways. The cleaning staff's on top of their game. If you're heading to the Amanas, I highly recommend staying at this B&B. We had a great time!

My parents stayed in room #3, The Whitetail, and it was perfect for my parents because they did not have to walk up any stairs and it was close to the door. The room was very large and my dad enjoyed the comfortable recliner because it reminded him of his at home. My husband and I stayed in room #8, The Walnut Grove, which was also a lovely room. It was nicely decorated and very large and has a great soaking tub. We all agreed that the hotel and rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. The breakfast each morning was good and my parents enjoyed the coffee being available early in the morning. The location is only a few miles away from the Amana Colonies and in a nice neighborhood. Before we went, I booked a really pricey room, expecting it to be a one-of-a-kind stay. It was a one-of-a-kind stay and a once-in-a-lifetime experience because it was the worst on my trip and I'll never go there again. In all the reservations made, theirs was the only non-refundable one, and I think I know why--most people would get there and turn around and leave. I went in early in the afternoon to inquire as to check-in time and where they recommended for dinner. The woman, without any warmth at all, started to answer my questions, but then turned away to answer her cell phone. When I finally checked into the room (The Red Carpet Room), the first thing I noticed walking in was a smell of dampness--more than just a drying shower--something like previously damp carpet. The room was beautiful to behold, and the bed was comfy. They said it was their most popular room. I can see why--it is beautiful when you see it online which is what compels you to book it. Breakfast was okay, if you don't mind casserole-type dishes. The front desk person, and the kitchen/dining room helper were both very friendly, but unfortunately, those first impressions put me off of everything.
