Many snack bars were closed, but that was not a bad thing. Still, there were no long lines. There is hardly any good/healthy food. The themes are randomly thrown together and the park has no guideline (more). It seems like they have lost their concept. The theme was Oktoberfest and it was poorly executed. The employees who drove around in cheap costumes in a kind of rickshaw and played (Romanian) music, rather made fun of the other nationality (German). Apart from the fact that this is not ethical and discriminatory, it was in bad taste.

I have wanted to visit Syon Park's Enchanted Woodland feature for years and was quick enough to…read moregrab a Groupon discount on two adult tickets for the opening weekend this year. I went with my boyfriend on Sunday evening and, despite the trek to get to Syon Lane train station from East London, we weren't disappointed. The weather that day was miserable due to a deluge of rain, so we were optimistic that it would clear up by the time we arrived. Mercifully, the weather cleared up and this likely deterred massive crowds on the evening as an added benefit! Getting to Syon Park from Syon Lane station isn't too tricky- you simply have to follow the crowd. There are also detailed instructions on the website to find the pedestrian gates. We unfortunately had trouble getting back to the station as the gate we came through was locked at 17:30 and we had to take a massive detour around the parking lot. The trains only seem to run every 40 minutes back to Waterloo, so we had to catch a bus back to Hammersmith and get on the tube from there. Aside from the difficulties getting home, the Enchanted Woodland is a wonderful attraction that is worth such inconveniences. We arrived around 17:30 and spent over an hour wandering through the park and admiring the view- the trees are lit up in an array of blues, reds, greens and purples and hidden smoke machines fill the air with an ominous layer of fog. There are hidden mythical creatures and animals in the landscape and a few laser shows that seemed to entertain children in particular. You follow a meandering trail through the park, then come across an illuminated stately home and a picturesque conservatory, which hosts some impressive cacti. There is a café at the end of the trail that sells a great selection of hot and cold food, espresso coffees, hot chocolate and a delectable selection of mince pies, cakes and squares. There is also a food market set up outside that offered hamburgers and hot food from the grill. There were plenty of families and pushchairs on the night we were there, but we were able to space ourselves out adequately and it didn't feel too cramped. Due to the weather earlier on, there was some mud and puddles along the path, so I would advise wellies if you visit on a wet day. I would admittedly have liked to attend an 'adult-only' night of the Enchanted Woodland, as the echoes of screaming children were ubiquitous and it was difficult to see some of the sights due to large families clustering and fussing, but there were plenty of couples there as well. I strongly recommend visiting the Enchanted Woodland if you get the chance- it's only open over a few weekends every year (late November/ early December) and is the perfect activity in the lead up to Christmas. We will definitely try to visit again next year and mark it as an annual tradition.

The London Dungeon isn't something I would have seen on my own, but I'm thoroughly pleased I brought my son to see it today. He absolutely loved it, and might have even learned some history along the way. Admission was expensive, but I felt we definitely got our money's worth. Timed tickets worked like a breeze. I bought our tickets for a 2:45 time slot on my phone just ten minutes prior, and when we arrived we walked right in. No line at all. I have a lot of experience in the theater, both acting in and seeing live shows, and I was very impressed by the dedication and talent of all of the actors, as well as all of the sound, lighting and various special effects. The scene with the witch in the cage was particularly excellent. The tour ends with a short "execution" ride, and then out into the macabre gift shop and small pub with a full bar. Would probably be a fun place to stay for a drink after the show. Had a great time and would definitely do it again!

Let's face it Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, whilst glorious in its own way, is far too often…read moreovercrowded and overrated. In this respect, Winterville offers a welcome alternative. The biggest downside to Winterville is its distance from any public underground or train station. Based in Victoria Park in East London, Winterville is a 15-20min walk or a bus-ride (277 / 425) from Mile End underground station. Nevertheless, accessibility via public transport aside, Winterville provides a good range of entertainment, befitting of the festive season.  Upon entering you are offered a handy map of the venue for free, if you should need a cash machine there is one but unfortunately it charges a fee for use, the public toilets are probably the most respectable portable toilets I've ever seen (- like walking into a caravan of toilets), plus there is an impressive range of good food in the food hall as well as from stalls dotted around the place. There is an alternative market hosted by circus folk, selling unconventional, artistic items, accompanied with their own stage for live music. There is a childrens' play area where you can drop off your beloved little ones when they are being particularly annoying or to reward them for being good - take your pick ;). Meanwhile there are fair rides and prize-winning activities as well as an ice-rink and circus shows to give yourself a memorable time.  I don't want to put a damper on things but just to add a bit of honest critique: the ice rink is quite small and when it rains they don't seem to clear out the puddles, the family-friendly circus show is enjoyable enough to watch with a decent variety of acts but does not quite reach incredible heights, and the bumper car ride lasts about 4min for £4 and only allows you to move in one direction which makes it harder to 'bump' someone, hence defeating the purpose somewhat. However all-in-all Winterville is indeed worth visiting for some festive fun, with good grub and mulled cider up for grabs as well as the option of treating yourself to a spot of ice-skating, crazy golf or watching a circus show or film at their very own cinema. Good fun all round.

I've known about Winterville for a while and just never ventured there but this week was the week and what a great time we had. Alex literally had no idea Winterville existed which was brilliant! We headed in and went straight to the cinema taking in the sites, smells (oh the smells) and sounds around us! There's a circus, crazy golf, an ice rink, rides, mulled wine stalls on every corner and some great local food stalls! We got to the cinema and were given our tickets - no queues, woo! We were then guided round the corner to a wooden wardrobe door. What's inside the door I hear you cry... Narnia of course! No I joke. But it is a Narnia esq closet filled with winter coats and a small gap which you cautiously step into. And then you're in there - the enchanted forest! It's honestly a magical mini experience as you wind your way into the cinema area which is decorated beautifully and truly makes you feel very merry indeed. We grabbed a couple of drinks, some popcorn and 2 tubs of £1 ice cream - yes £1!!! I had the salted caramel and it was delicious and obviously gone in 20 seconds. They have comfy sofas with blankets or bean bags available. Sure it's kind of pricey at £16 a ticket but who cares - it's Christmas, it's romantic and we were watching Bugsy Malone which is just a great film! Once the film had finished we grabbed a bratwurst each and watched people ice skate. Sadly we were a bit low on funds so didn't partake in all that was up for offer but we had a lovely walk around the village and really enjoyed ourselves and our bratwursts! For me Winterville is a more relaxed, quieter, and enjoyable version of Winter Wonderland. Perfect for those living east and wanting to stay away from the tourist crowds. We loved it and will no doubt return next year with a few more pennies to spend!

It's an exact replica of the layout of…read moreKingda Ka, currently the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, to be found in Six Flags Great Adventure, New Jersey, USA. Unlike most coasters which are gravity driven (the car is lifted to the top of the first hill and gravity takes it round), Stealth is one of the few cable launched coasters (like the catapult on an aircraft carrier) in the country - it wasn't the first; that honour belongs to RITA:Queen of Speed in Alton Towers. Stealth is however the fastest coaster in the UK. You are launched from 0 to 80mph in under 2 seconds along a straight track. Then the car goes up vertically 205 feet, back down 205 feet, then over little bunny hill before coming to an abrupt stop. After what can be a long wait, the ride is over in around 10 seconds but let me assure you that 10 seconds is an amazing compressed adrenaline rush. The feeling of acceleration along the track is like having a wind powered face lift. In the vertical phase, you feel like you're in the space shuttle as it is launched. The drop sensation on the downward section is surprisingly muted and the abrupt stop brings hysterical laughter to a lot of riders, the sign of a good ride. It's one of the few rides I prefer to ride at the front but it's worthwile having that unobstructed view of the launch and rising phases. Also a top tip - use the single rider queue!! I'm not sure why they call it Stealth - the superstructure is visible from all around the park and the launch is nothing short of sensational!

Me and my friends were so scared to go on stealth the first time even though I have been on it before. We ended up going on it 6 times in one day. It was really nice when we could go in the pitch dark which was really scary as you couldn't see where you were going but then when you got to the top the whole park was lit up and the line of 20 minutes was totally worth the wait. Stealth will satisfy any thrill seeker and if you are scared of rollercoaster this is a great one to get rid of your fear of them as it does not go upside down!

The two tickets I paid for included marshmallows and music; for the ticket amount, a drink should have been included. Rather drinks are an additional £7-8. Greek food (only grilled cheese for vegetarians) is additional money and cash only. Would've been smart if the organizers had bothered to let us know via email beforehand. It turns out anyone could have walked up to the roof to roast marshmallows; no one was checking wristbands there. The music was held in the freezing ass cold tunnel so after just a few minutes there, and bundled in puffer jackets, we couldn't feel our toes. I was told no heaters could be brought in because of soot in the atmosphere; fair enough but then choose another venue for this! There was mass confusion about a token system, with people asking each other about it whilst standing in queues and even a ticket person saying he didn't understand why someone upstairs was talking about tokens. The museum itself is mildly interesting. Never again.

The Midnight Apothecary: This summer as well as the museum, on Saturdays nights there is a cocktail bar set up in the beautiful herb garden on the roof of the Thames tunnel. The 'cocktail gardener,' Lottie Muir, uses herbs (and other ingredients) from the garden to make beautiful (and strong) cocktails each Saturday night during the summer. We tried the gin and lavender fizz, and the strawberry and mint martini...they were both lovely. I honestly can't think of a more pleasant spot to watch the sunset. * Cash only! Each cocktail is £5...so remember to stock up on paper money! * The garden is quite small, so you might need to get there early if you have a large group. * If cocktails aren't enough, there are also underground tours of the museum/tunnel starting at 7:30pm. I think this costs £5. The website says it will keep going through September, so there are a few more weeks left to try it. If you live in the area - get over there!!

It is tiny and itamate, and although I am slightly biased as I used to work for the youth theatre here, they do a great variety of stuff. From dance, to new writing, to comedians trying out material beefore going to the Edinbugh festival, there is something for everyone, and its definately worth having a look on thier website for whats on and coming up. Also if you have kids thier youth theatre on a Saturday is first class.!!

Nearest tube station is Oval - it's a brisk 10 minute walk. The theatre had a difficult transition period when AD Jasmine Cullingford left in 2013 after 7 years in the role, but co-ADs Niamh de Valera and Jo Sadler-Lovett have since found their own way and started programming some fantastic shows. Some of the best productions at BET are new writing, with a focus on plays rather than musicals. There are also quite often pure dance shows, which is a genre not all fringe theatres support. BET does a lot of admirable work in the local community (i.e. Borough of Southwark), running free acting workshops for children and other educational projects to encourage inclusion. Concessions are available for senior citizens, students, unemployed, disabled and locals. (Whilst it doesn't look wheelchair friendly, there's more than one way into the theatre and they can and will sort access if you need it. This little elephant doesn't leave anyone behind.) The bar upstairs is generally open pre and post show and often has a free art exhibition in place. Always worth having a look. Drinks are cheap and you can take them into the show in plastic. The staff and volunteers are absolutely lovely - you will feel thoroughly welcomed at this venue. Allow a bit of time to find BET the first time, but soon you'll be a regular and know the quickest way there without thinking!
