Front desk and doctors were very nice and caring! Switched offices from shoreline internal medicine and very happy with my decision!

Called up with a severe shoulder pain. Asked to see anyone. Was told I could only see my doctor, not anyone else in the group and the first appointment was a week from now. What's the point of a doctor if it takes a week to get seen for acute pain?!? Gonna have to find a new provider. read more

I usually see Lisa Woods here and she is wonderful. With that being said, I recently switched doctors offices not because of Lisa but because of a few bad experiences with another PA and one of the on call doctors. Both people I saw/spoke with completely wrote off the GI issues I was experiencing and made me feel like it was all in my head...it wasn't. Now, after leaving the practice they have decided to charge me for visits from 2 years ago (as well as a few from this year.) They also called to tell me that if I wanted my records sent to my new doctor there is a charge per sheet of paper (which I have never heard of but maybe this is normal) and that I had a balance that needed to be taken care of first. I just received the bill a few days ago. The office staff who called to tell me this was very unpleasant and really made this whole experience even worse than it already was. Very glad I switched practices. read more

I have to say that my visit to this practice is months ago now and IT STILL BOTHERS me. I really do feel that the PA was gaslighting me and the staff was horrendous. I am so relieved to have found a wonderful alternative, not near to my home but a much more caring atmosphere! Our entire family has transferred. I had a horrible experience here. Starting at the front desk and working my way back. The polar opposite of what one would anticipate in an office specializing in patient care. I would never recommend a friend, family member, or a loved one to this establishment. I had multiple unprofessional experiences with the front desk and manager regarding payment. They had misplaced a payment, and I had to follow up many times to show evidence of payment. It was corrected and I liked my Dr. enough to go back a second time. Unfortunately, I was greeted by the same shameful ineptitude at the front desk. When I arrived, I was told I had to pay a cancellation fee for a previous appointment rescheduled. I told her I had spoken to the manager, who was going to waive the fee. I asked to speak with the manager, who who was not in. I was asked to sit and wait (for 20 minutes) while she continued to check patients in and spoke to the manager twice on the phone. Twenty minutes later, the receptionist called me back up to the window to say that she would not waive the fee AND that I had now missed my appointment because I showed up late (which I did not) and would be charged another cancellation fee!! That is correct, I was turned away while coughing grotesquely in the waiting room because the receptionist wanted to make a point, rather than treat a patient. I was told the Dr. was unavailable for the rest of the day. Although I was the only person in the waiting room at this point. This really happened. Ultimately, the really shameful part is that this was a follow up visit because the doctor had asked for a chest X-ray at another facility. The results, which I never received from Guilford Internal Medicine, were indicative of a full blown infection that required treatment....that I was never administered. I was turned away before ever seeing the doctor. It is pretty horrific that the Doctor did not do the follow up on her own, and willingly or unknowingly allowed this experience to be my last. I will never know. It saddens me that this group is in the medical profession. Patient care and comfort is nonexistent. I blame mismanagement, and hope those who are qualified, skillful, and compassionate find a new group to work with. I assume that is why they got into the field in the first place. It's clear to me the front desk receptionist and manager are simply collecting paychecks, with little regard for the clientele. I would attribute my experience to bad day, if it had happened once. read more

Ana Rodriguez is one of the PAs in this practice. Somebody recommended her as a medical professional who actually listens and is not condescending. I had undiagnosed Celiac for over a decade. I can't tell you the things that certain doctors have found it appropriate to say to me when they gave up on finding answers for me. Then I finally rec'd a diagnosis at a different practice. Then in the last 5 yrs, new symptoms popped up. No one was able to help me. Then I found Anna she got me before the right specialist and I finally have the proper diagnosis. I had a secondary autoimmune disease. I love Ana for her thoroughness as well as her sass! When I went in to see her (which by the way was my fifth doctor) I have to admit that I was not very pleasant. I was sick and tired of being pushed aside and I was not the friendliest patient in the world. She gave me a little sass right back when I needed it...and I actually liked it! She does not mess around, she will not candy coat things, and she WILL get you a diagnosis. Thanks Ana for LISTENING! read more

I am giving this a three star review, as opposed to less, because my experience with the doctors was exceptional. I had the privilege to see Ana Rodriguez, who was extremely knowledgeable and thorough. She had an excellent grasp of my issues and took the time to walk me through all of it. I can't commend her enough. Previous to Ana Rodriguez I saw Lisa Woods who was also extremely knowledgeable and thoughtful in her care. I can't speak highly enough of these two, and would recommend either one to anyone vigorously. I received excellent care from both. The reason I am giving Guilford Internal Medicine Group an unfavorable rating is simply the managing front end of the business. Not to diminish the courteous nature of the staff that welcomes you to an appointment, because they have always been so, but rather the management of the group. I found it to be like pulling teeth to call in to get an appointment, even as a long standing patient. I found myself consistently having to contact the secretary of the person I was seeing to bypass what I deemed to be a deeply flawed handling of patient information and unacceptably poor insurance management. In addition I found my treatment as a patient by the management to be unnecessarily unprofessional at best, and upsetting at worst. read more

The two-stars I am rating this office has nothing to do with my doctor - she is wonderful. This office's downfall is the management. It's hard to put into words exactly how the front-end staff make you feel, but I'll try. When you walk in, you can't help but notice multiple signs advising you that you better have your insurance card, or else. God forbid your insurance has changed and you have to use your app to show them your card. I guess what I'm trying to say is they treat you like you're trying to "pull one over on them." I've never felt apprehensive about having to go to the doctor...and no one who is under the weather should have to deal with this. It would serve them well to relax their iron-clad rules and treat people like they actually care. read more

The doctor was great! The office assistants at the front desk put me on hold for ten minutes because they didn't feel like answering my questions about billing and appointments. When I finally got someone back on the phone they admitted they put me on hold because they thought they already answered my question and hoped I would hang up. Once I was frustrated from being talked down to and yelled at by one phone lady she screamed to stop laughing (which I do when I feel incredibly awkward). Their phone staff is verbally abusive and on some sort of power trip. read more

Just like the previous reviewer - loved the professional staff, driven away by heartless office manager. I drove through snow and ice to get turned away for lack of an insurance card. I had insurance, could provide the ID, but no card. They sent me home coughing and choking. When I secured a temporary card and called for a rescheduled appointment, same thing - they wanted a missed appointment fee. Been a patient for years, they just lost my business and that of everyone I know that will listen to my story. Good luck with those fees. read more

i have been to dr parmalee 2 times. i have found him to be a great dr. he listens, he asks questions and he respects your ideas. he is calm and patient and takes the time to answer your questions. i would say to anyone he is someone you can trust. read more
