The Ingenius counselors are mostly part-timers, very busy with other things. One counselor was an…read moreundergraduate student with one (!) college internship to her credit and some activist interests, just needed an easy part-time job. We were told that these were seasoned individuals with experience. Only after prodding, we received background info. Frequent short-notice schedule changes. One counselor cancelled an appointment, sending a message he was just getting on a plane to visit his parents, he forgot about the appointment. Superficial counselling keeping students busy and then not giving productive feedback. I blame Ingenius for the many rejections my high-performing high schooler received. From schools she should have gotten into or at least waitlisted. Ingenius provided wrong and lazy advice. We hired them thinking they could provide expertise we thought we didn't have ourselves. We were wrong. We would have been better off navigating the college prep and application process ourselves. Likely with better results. Very disappointing. Avoid Ingenius at all costs. Parents, trust your own process. We are figuring out legal action, to get our money back.

The lounge and the dining hall are relaxing spots to hang out in, and Friday happy hours come with free! alcohol and greasy, repetitive but free! food. In fact, the law school is a fantastic resource for the hungry and cheap. (Caveat: cover for 3 years will set you back something to the tune of oh...$132,000.) If you hang around at 1:00 PM or after 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday, it takes very little diligence to scrounge free Thai, Indian, pizza, and if you're lucky, something else (but you have to be quite lucky). The courtyard is perfect for hanging out in warmer months, but it may as well be closed for business during the winter. If you need to unwind indoors, the couches in the lounge and the four armchairs on the main floor of the library make for prime nappy time, and no one judges you for drooling. One complaint I have about Yale Law School is that the lunchtime crowd in the dining hall is terribly and visibly young. The library is also a total undergraduate hotspot. I think YLS would be much improved if it poached the bouncer from Anchor and made all the underaged children take their biology textbooks and study at Toad's.

I recently took my driving test and unfortunately failed because of unclear and unsafe instructions…read morefrom the instructor. During the test, I was in the left-hand lane when he told me to "go right." I asked for clarification since that instruction didn't match where I was on the road, but he repeated "go right" several times. So I followed his direction exactly as stated, even though I knew it wasn't correct, because he insisted multiplee times! Afterward, instead of acknowledging the confusion, he made comments about my disabilities and told me to "stop making excuses" and "you have a lot of diseases all of a sudden" when literally all I said was that I have dyslexia & Autism and need his instructions to be clearer... I wouldn't be as upset about failing if it were because of my OWN mistake, but in this case, the error happened because of unclear and inconsistent instructions from the instructor. So Long story short, he told me to cut across lanes and cars to make a right turn instead of letting me take the left and correct it. When I asked for clarification multiple times, he got irritated and repeated "go right," so I did, and then he failed me for following his OWN instructions.

My new driver was able to relax and laugh before the test, allowing for an easy transition into the test. I would recommend everyone use Next Street for their driving lessons and test!
